I’ve always tolerated infusion as another ride to do at the park , especially when it’s quiet, but this summer was the last time. It just isn’t enjoyable for me whatsoever. Rattling my bones on Grand National is at least fun!
I got one ride on that torture device Infusion when we came over to Blackpool PB from Ireland in 2022. My ears and head were hammered the whole way around, it was shocking. Then I did Mayan this June hoping for better but , it sucked big time. So that's it for me, never riding an SLC again beyond one ride for the credit. Come one, come all to Emerald Park for our beautiful STC, now that is what a Vekoma coaster SHOULD be!!! ❤🎉🎉

They’re placed between 8-15 minutes apart at selected points of a 51 minute video (like you’d find with watching a TV programme). Funding the cameras, the filming space, the electric to use the equipment all costs money, as does the internet that’s required to upload the videos. The cost of the laptop, the editing software… The list goes on. It’s free to watch.
Excellent first podcast. I liked how you broke it up in to chapters for each subject. Where did you film the podcast from, it looks like a home cinema room. Also, because I'm not on any social media platforms like Facebook I couldn't ask a question. This would be my question to you Scott - "How would you encourage people who are scared to ride rollercoasters to get on one for the first time?" The tip I was given was to look ahead in to the distance so you know what's coming up. It worked for me because I've been riding coasters since 1984. Fanriffic.
Thank you 🙏 It’s difficult because I’m trying to find the best way to encourage my son to do everything he’s tall enough to do, but every one has their own fear level with rides. For me I just got confident one day and did most of the BPB coasters in a short space of time over 2 visits, and once I’d done the same at Towers I was ready to try any coaster 🎢
@@yourexperienceguide My first coaster was the Grand National in 1984. I went on it not knowing what it was. A baptism of fire. That was me hooked on rollercoasters after that. My next coaster was Big Dipper followed by Rollercoaster (now Nicky Streak). When I was getting my mate to go on his first coaster (Nickelodeon Streak) I got him to watch POVs so he knew what to expect beforehand. On the day, as we approached the first drop, I just told him to look straight ahead to the next hill and don't look straight down the drop. He was fine after that. I think every beginner should start on Nicky Streak when in Blackpool. If you enjoy fairground rides, you'll love rollercoasters. Why should everyone else enjoy the fun, be brave and join them. 🎢
The question I have about the non-rider season pass is what happens if someone with a non-rider pass visits the park say with their grandkids that are regular season pass but then wants to just do a single ride or two whist they are there? For me it seems pretty essential to have some kind of pay per ride system in place if you are going to have non-rider passes and tickets, or at the least allow non-rider ticket holders to go on some basic things like the PB Express, maybe the Gallopers or Derby Racers, etc.
It’s not just the lack of thrill coasters that have been made in the UK, it’s the rate new stuff is built! It’s painful waiting years for a new ride and then seeing things like they might retheme/retrack Galactica… if it was in the US it would’ve been ripped down and replaced
There was also the ride, mandrill mayhem at chessington in the jumanji area but thats probably aimed towards families too. Hopefully BPB have something big for thrill seekers planned for the space where Grand prix is

The issue with trialing the day pass at £50 is that people still won’t see the value in it. They need to introduce a £15 one-off day pass which they would sell by the truck load. My guess is that most people don’t visit multiple times a year so seeing a non rider pass at £50 is going to make people whine that it’s too expensive, which to be fair it probably is for a one-shot walk around pass. Also, Big One - keep the structure but they somehow need to bring it into the 2020s. I love it and they should keep it, but they need to do something to make the headlines again. Although maybe they have something new coming that will do that ….
Thomas land and PPworld changed the UK themepark model. Both extremely popular and successful. Thrill seekers are being overlooked currently, Thorpe park the exception.
I can’t see beyond Thorpe for the next Thrill ride even with Hyperia, unless Paultons do something surprising but it seems silly if they do level up thrills to have a big jump. BPB I’ve given up on, Flamingo land feels like Sik is their big ride, then what else is there

One could say the likes of Nemesis and the big one are actually seen as family coasters... expectations across all ages are higher thanks to the technology and hardware availability and the simple fact that over the last 10 years plus travelling to overseas destinations to experience other parks latest investments in rides and attractions has become accessible to all budgets... Once upon a time UK theme parks had no competition from overseas and Joe Public could only really dream about visiting overseas parks.. .... Park owners need to future proof themselves against ride trends by investing in tech that allows mods to rollercoastes without removing them completely when they go out of fashion... Every coaster has a 'use by / best before date' and unfortunately tough decisions have to be made... Nostalgic and iconic rides need to make way for new thills in my opinion... Hanging on to such rides as Rita is actually hurting any potential opportunities to crete world class attractions that folk from all over globe to come experience.
The competition from parks abroad has been there for 30+ years, especially Disney (Paris & Orlando), and PortAventura, all of which heavily advertised in the early 90s. Disney still do.
There's no doubt that the merger of Six Flags & Cedar Fair is going to result in less choice for thrill seekers as they seek to maximise profits. Park closures & reduced overall maintenance budgets are definitely in the pipeline.
Yup, commented before you mentioned Hyperia, so apologies on that. For Nemmy, Towers pushed it as if it were a new ride, and the retheme definitely adds to the concept.
You’ve got to have a good balance of family, coasters and thrill coasters, I don’t think it’s realistic for any park or at the very least most to just rely on one demographic alone, you’ve got to cater for two or three demographics. At least they have a bigger and wider customer base.

Much more cost effective to completely refurbish coasters that still draw the crowds rather than buy & build a new coaster with today's material inflation & high borrowing costs.
I come from Germany and here the population is becoming more conservative and fearful on average. Many parks with thrill coasters are increasingly being criticized for their thrill coasters. For many people, amusement parks are for children. In their opinion, adults only go there because of their children, and do not use the attractions for their own enjoyment. After all, as an adult you have to be sensible and serious. At least that is what society wants. This is precisely why many thrill coasters are criticized for their size or age restrictions. Parents do not understand why their 8-year-old is not allowed to ride a coaster because in their opinion everything should be designed for children. But there are also cases in which children are allowed to ride the coaster and the parents who ride with them complain about the intensity. They feel forced to ride something they are afraid of and do not like. This is why there are more and more calls for parks to slow down coasters or otherwise make them more family-friendly. Just look at the POV videos of Gobbi Express in Taunus Wunderland. It's a Mack powered coaster, so basically a family roller coaster. But even then there was massive criticism, so the coaster was slowed down and now it goes around at a ridiculous speed.
I mean asking the question "where are all the new UK thrill coasters" in the selfsame year the tallest ride in the country opened looks a certain way. Nevertheless, you're not wrong. That doesn't seem like a big difference... until you realize that the UK has over four times the population size of the Netherlands. By rights you should have got at least 20 thrill coasters in a decade.
