@@gamerbanger6593 When shooting video your shutter-speed is fixed at 1/50th. You use your f-stop not to manage exposure but to select the depth of field you want. Only then do you use your variable ND-filter to manage your exposure. If without the ND-filter your exposure is still to dark, use the ISO to set exposure, otherwise keep it at 100 ISO.
I bought ND filters yesterday, you know how everyone is always looking for that “cinematic” look it’s the nd filters it’s literally the nd filters things look so gorgeous with it
Such great points. I’ve been chasing this dream for the last five years and only in the last year have I really appreciated this wisdom. ND filters are not optional, and lickd sounds earth shatteringly useful.
Lizzie, that was super useful. Especially the bit about not shooting at the widest aperture all the time. I'd be very interested in a video where you elaborate on this 👍
Great video, Lizzie - thank you! Something I can share is a change I just made yesterday to bin names in Premiere Pro. Before, I’d name them according to camera, like R5 stills, R5 video, GoPro, GO2, R6, etc. Yesterday, I named my bins according to the scenes, like leaving home, arriving on location, to camera on location, location b-roll, audio, leaving location, etc. Then, I dropped the relevant footage from all relevant devices into my scene-specific bins! So much easier! Thx again, love. I really enjoyed this one, and have finally subscribed. Dunno what took me so long. 😉🦘🇦🇺
I'd say shooting in 60 fps is actually ok, but slowing everything down is not. What I mean is, a 60 FPS footage can always be used in normal speed interpreted as a 24 fps footage, but 24fps footage cannot be slowed down, and sometimes (especially in run and gun scenarios) you don't have the luxury to switch between both modes.
These are all great tips, and I'm guilty of not following many of these, but it's usually because not enough time while getting the shot, etc... It's hard to get all these things right all the time, especially as a beginner. Just film more, tell a great story, and all of these things will become natural and easier with practice.
What about shooting everything in 60fps 1/125 then editing in a 24fps timeline? i have the option to slow down or leave it as is and the footage looks pretty much the same as if i shot 24p 1/50
I love this! I had a hard drive go down and it was a tragically epic kick in the metaphorical pants. I made a video about it, and it actually helped to show me how to keep moving forward….but I still kinda wish I hadn’t dragged my feet with the whole backup thing 😆
I think nd filters are in fact optional. Its not really optional in terms of having them in your overall gear, but using them is a creative desicion linked to your shutter and aperture settings...🤔
@Lickd Music for TH-cam sounds great. Are you guys the first company to do it like this? I was just never aware of it, unless it's in the film industry, where it's much more expensive to buy rights and stuff
Very helpful indeed, thank you. The LIKD thing is a revelation to me and a fab concept. They need access to my google account to sign up. I have never had this before so is this normal? Thank :)
@@Marlonorellana definitely looked at PMs, but currently $250 filter on my cheap camera doesn't make a lot of sense for me 🤔 especially as I will need multiple. IF I can get the Sony a7IV in January then it would make more sense for sure.😁

I'm trying to save for the Sony IV which after lens and battery kit etc will set me back about £4000, in that scenario I will just go ahead and buy the $250 filter 🤣 just not for my current £500 camera 😜
Most pleased to not guilty of mistakes 1 to 3. However in the later ones I am a serial offender! What's wrong with fixed multiplier grey filter? For content not require adaption.
Biggest mistake today is acting like being a content creator and posting halfass mediocre content as portfolio, while never actually having produced any authentic content. Just faking to be like other succesful creators without repecting the fact that it takes years to be like her and actually understanding the depth of patience.
there is no such "level". youtubers are "creatives", people who make content for others to consume and enjoy, the videographers practice their skills here and make amazing video's to watch. plenty are also working professionally as filmmakers and even photographers on youtube are shooting professionally. you might not be able to recognize them, that doesn't mean they aren't here.

ND filters are not optional.
I bought one listening to ur previous vids Lizzie
But idk where n when to use
@@gamerbanger6593 use when there is a harsh light
ND filters are mandatory
Yup, had that in mind. Now always have my matte box with the VND filters around me, even at night just in case + lights.

I’ve been making it a habit to choose the music for my films and TH-cam content beforehand so I have a ‘palette’ to go by when filming
This is the way!
That attention to detail is what I needed to hear. As photographer aa well. Thank you for this video 🙏🏾🙏🏾
The first 15 seconds made me subscribe! Keep up the good work Liz!
