- Hi everyone. There were a few things that we forgot to bring up or didn't fit in the first video that we wanted to mention, however we could not make a full video about it. Because Janus represents self preservation, I think that he will confront Orange and tell him that he went to far if Thomas starts to act on blind rage.
That's a really good theory.
All that we know that Janus kept Remus and the others a secret for a long time until he let Remus out.
I can actually see this happening if things get away too far.

That is honestly all I want at this point.
Also, it seems weird introducing an entirely new character after everything. Bringing in a new side after what seems like the beginning of a Roman arc would seem weird and out of place. I’m definitely interested in the idea of a new character but it just doesn’t seem likely. Roman and Logan are already ignored and bringing in a new character would shift the attention onto the orange side not their problems. It just seems weird

Orange will take Logan's corner and have some resemblance to Logan. All of the opposing sides have at least one part of their costumes are similar. Ex. Patton and Janus both have an outer covering - cloak and cardigan, and Roman and Remus both have regal attire. Maybe Logan and Orange will have Ties
That's a good observation. I haven't noticed that before. Maybe it'll be something with his neck like a tie or scarf
Opening this up a little farther- wouldn't that leave the opportunity for there to be another side with some resemblance to Virgil? Like them both having eyeshadow, both having a cool looking Christmas sweater/sweater in general? :')

So I have a theory about Roman. In the past few/several episodes, Roman has been not so subtly hinting at the fact he feels he’s not needed or appreciated.
Now in parts 1+2 of Accepting Anxiety, Virgil said that he ducked out because he didn’t fell needed by the other sides.
So what if, if Nico does cheat on Thomas or for whatever reason their relationship doesn’t work, Roman might feel like he got Thomas’s hopes too high and hurt him in the process. Leading to the final straw and causing Roman to duck out.
I think that the way Roman has been acting lately could point to this. Maybe the reason he hasn’t ducked out yet was because he felt he had an obligation to stick around after seeing what happened when Viril ducked out.
I've also noticed how Roman keeps joking about his insecurities, and I think that the completion of Roman's arc might tie in to the reveal of the orange side, because those are both major plot points. Additionally, Roman said in Flirting with Social Anxiety how he really wanted to pursue a relationship with Nico (and I quote, "I so, so badly want this. I'm desperate for it." I've obsessively watched this video enough times to be able to quote it off the top of my head, lmao) and when Thomas (and Virgil) did, he was so happy. So if the relationship doesn't work out for whatever reason (or if they have arguments or misunderstandings) Roman will probably take that really hard, and maybe think it's his fault for getting Thomas's hopes up so high just to have them come crashing down. Just my thoughts! And if the orange side's reveal doesn't connect with Roman's arc, the reveal will most likely coincide with Logan's arc.
Geez Louis I hope Nico doesn’t cheat on Thomas or something! But I do agree with you guys that he probably play some part in the Orange Side appearing. (Also, you guys at the end with the little eyepatches is so cute!)
Maybe the cheating isn‘t really happening, but Thomas (for example) sees Nico with another guy and circumstances make him believe he‘s cheated on? Could fit in with being blinded by rage.

That, I would say, is more likely than Nico ACTUALLY cheating. So far he doesn't seem like the type. A misunderstanding would make sense though.
I had a little theory that the next episode would be revealing Roman’s room - like how they went to Virgil’s to get him to come back, he got so mad that they listened to Janus that he left in a huff

Oh I definitely belive thats what the next episode's going to be. Especially since thomas confirmed that the next SSides episode will be a 2 parter, and how his arc has been building up for it ever since Crofters the Musical to the last few minutes of SVS2. I already have my theory of what the 2 parter would be about and how it may pan out, cause that's how excited I am for it.

Theory: I've seen theories about Roman's room being in the next episode. And maybe when they head there the orange side uses their power to make Roman lash out at everybody. Of course Logan noticed that the orange side is nearby because, obviously I doubt you're eyes would turn white when in a fit of rage. Unless the orange side is using their power. I'll recap the other powers quickly,
Logan probably has photographic memory, or knows everything and might forget but can remember it. Patton probably has emotional manipulation, along with transforming into a frog but I think all sides have some sort. Roman has the ability to create anything. Remus has the same as Roman but can transform into an Octopus. I probably assume Virgil can make any side anxious at any time, not going to cover the animal thing. Janus can transform into any side. Along with can transform into a snake. Orange side possibly can make anyone express repressed rage. Makes sense that you can tell, because the only time where Janus hasn't messed up a costume was in You vs Yourself where Logan wasn't physically there but through technology so they couldn't even see him. When the orange sode is revealed they probably would stop using their power. I think a cool side effect of the power, would be that it exhausts the side its used on. Because it makes them act on rage that has probably been bottled up for a while, and they never would express. Kind of taking entire control over them, like having a power similar to Patton but a personality opposite using their power for harm.
When I think about it the dark sides kinda have a fantasy type of theme:
Janus = detective
Remus = duke (or some form of royalty)
Orange = since you say the one eye is blind in one eye so maybe a *pirate* ?
Every time I watch a video of, and/or hear a new theory about, or just anytime orange is brought up, I get more impatient for his introduction, we’ve been waiting so long for his introduction, and he’s the only side we are being teased about and are expecting, Janus and Remus came seemingly out of nowhere until we saw the signs eluding to them afterwards, the only time we were straight up told about a dark side before this was when Janus was introduced and the others told Thomas there was more, but that was it, this is the first time we are anticipating it, and I don’t know about you guys but it’s killing me

Regarding the See/Speak/Hear No Evil theory about how Virgil could fit in there as a former "dark" side, it's not very well know but there is actually a fourth that is, "Do No Evil", which I think Virgil could easily slot in to.
Yeah, we did bring that up in passing but it didn't make it into the final script. That seems to be a good fit for Virgil if you think about it. I think the fact that its not well known further fits into Virgil's lack of belonging to either group of sides. I'm kinda sad thinking about it :(

[SPOILERS AHEAD]
Thomas has a date with Nico
Logans eyes turned orange once
it was when he was frustrated with Remus
AND Remus replied with “now you’re speaking my language.. but who do you _really_ want to scream that at”
And a theory for the next video:
It’s gonna be the date
Virgil and Roman are gonna be there (again, obvious)
Patton may be there but idk
Remus may be in the background, making Virgil really anxious
If patton’s there he’ll try to keep virge as calm as he can be
If not then we’ll hear virgil’s echoy voice a lot
Logan is gonna get mostly ignored during the date but he’ll try to stay calm, especially since we just went over that Thomas has been catastrophizing (hence Remus in the background) and doesn’t need more to worry about
Despite this, he’ll burst eventually at Thomas and/or the other sides after the date
And then the orange side will appear
Yeah I really like that theory. I was thinking the orange side would take over Logan in some way as he's more vulnerable to it as seen in the newest Aside
You talked about the fact that the orange side would be “see no evil” but that also correlates with the “blinding rage” selection from POF but sounds plausible that’s for sure.
Especially with all of the talk about sight/blindness in recent episodes (Patton’s reaction to Thomas saying “I made a decision with a blindfold on,” “hindsight’s 20/20) I totally agree with the “see no evil” theory. I never saw that image in the background- jeez that’s creepy.
Oh and I’ve had a thought- didn’t you theorize that the orange side would be related to crows? Odin is one-eyed and has two ravens, which is kind of close to crows. Other than that I haven’t researched Odin enough to know if that’s even relevant.
Idk if anyone's pointed this out, but I think that Patton's eye flashing around 2:55 is actually a result of the style. That particular part of the visuals is styled after the Phoenix Wright series, which is inspired very heavily by anime. They do that eye flashing thing all the time in anime, so I think it doesn't really mean anything. Regardless, this is an amazing theory and I loved every second of it 🧡
Something I just noticed is on the poster, we can see something below the jack-o'-lantern's eye that is probably just his mouth, but it starts out as a straight line & curves under in the same art style as Nico's glasses. The orange side may wear glasses

Also, many people say that every light side is antagonized by a dark side so remus is the anti-roman, janus is the dark side of logic... virgil could be patton's dark side but we've already established that he's a special side, he's isn't bad nor good, he's in between 🤷🏻♂️! So the dark side of patton...will definitely be anger. The orange side is the repressed emotions which he will express with anger.... omg... This is totally it omggg Oo
The “see no evil” for the Orange side is honestly great because of the theory that he is Rage. So he is essentially making the sides act out in a BLIND rage. I love that

Has anyone else notice this is kinda like inside out? The elephant guy had a flower with the colors that represent each emotion but for some reason *orange* was on the flower even tho there wasn't an orange emotion

The fact that the patch of an eye patch being used as well as the fact of having Nico be a catalyst for the appearance Orange is insane. Keep up the good work
I love this theory and when thinking about anger and rage I can't really place specifically which side would handle that so this theory makes a lot of sense on that front. The blind imagery and "blinded by rage" thing about his powers is a very cool idea and one I hope we get to see more of.
I also think that the orange side could have some burns on his skin.

@@PickYourPoison Yeah im excited though to have a real threat for Thomas to face but no so much for Nico to break his heart. I think cheating would be a really touchy one so it will either be that or maybe Nico used Thomas for fame clout.

Orange just casually walking in eating like a candy bar or somefin like “What, you wanted a big entrance? F off, just be glad I decided to even show up.” Then proceeds to be passive aggressive but otherwise very calm and very bored during the episode since I’d imagine as much as seeing rage is fun, they can’t unleash their pure raw emotions without it hurting Thomas and that like one thing Orange doesn’t want to do. (yet.)
Edit: Also was reading comments and just wanted to say how cool it’d be if Virgil confronted them because he’s all about protecting Thomas but Anxiety and Rage get along waaaay too well and there’s a moment of hesitation in Virgil when Orange is like “We’ve done this before and nothing bad has happened. You and your new friends made sure of that, Virgil.”
I’m always here for Virgil angst - love the idea of him standing up to Orange especially since Orange is probably going to be the most frightening and we know Virgil was scared of Remus so he must be even more scared of Orange.

The only problem that I see (no pun intended) with this theory is that... I cannot see (again, no pun intended) Nico cheating on Thomas. I just... can't. He seems way too nice for something like that. And yes, I know that not all cheaters are big jerks who never loved their partners to begin with, but still.
I'm not saying it can't have anything to do with Nico! I just don't think it'll be Nico cheating on Thomas. Maybe some sort of misunderstanding or something instead?

Orange side yes can blind people! He chooses roman and since logan dosent pop up he stands in his spot. Literally everyone concerned for roman and mystery man, they forget about logan. @@Monotoneandmonoalone well the way I see it, virgil is basically the one who is in the middle. He is a light side and a dark side. One way is due to his name and how it isnt like the darkside where it ends with "us"(Remus Janus) while the light sides have names ending in "on"(Roman Patton Logan) so virgil being secretive about his own name but dosent have an opposite. Also I would also like to clarify that logan is the only one without a dark side and virgil isnt it. Thomas has revealed there will be another dark side and based on the colors he included for each side, the next dark side will be orange. So virgil is basically a bridge between the lights and darks. Perhaps he will be the one to unite the others.

And if I might add, Virgil could be the only one who is able to sort out the mess, because Logan and Mr. Mystery will be opposing, so will Roman and Remus, and Patton and Janus, and Virgil will be the only one without an "opposite" to make him lose sight of what's important, and this will be why he is able to remain rational(ish).

I think we've started to see hints of Orange starting from the second Intrusive Thoughts video Thomas made sometime after Flirting with Anxiety and I'm gonna go into spoiler territory unless everyone has seen the second Intrusive Thoughts video, so to anyone who hasn't seen it, don't view the comment, ok so there's this moment during the scene in the bedroom where Thomas has left the room after dancing to a song Logan plays to keep Thomas from thinking Intrusive Thoughts, Logan then turns to Remus trying to explain something to the point Remus intentionally begins to ignore Logan for a considerable amount of time which Logan in vain struggles to get through to him but it doesn't go well, it goes so bad that Logan snaps and when he does, his eyes turn orange which gets Remus intrigued until Nico ends up sending a a voice call, so from that point on, i believe whoever Orange is, he'll likely be a twin of Logan or he'll be like Janus in that he can appear as anyone or he can be a totally different entity that gives off anger but I'd like to think it'll be a twin to Logan like how Remus is a twin of Roman but hey I could be wrong with that and Thomas can give us whoever Orange is though I'm still sticking with Orange being somewhat related to Logan for now until we see a video where Orange appears in front of Thomas and every one of the sides
I know this is probably out there, and doesn’t make much sense (it might not even be an original theory), but going off of the idea that orange will be rage, I have my own theory. During one of the sides’ rants, Virgil interrupts in an attempt to get said side to calm down. In the heat of the moment, the side says something they may not entirely mean, or that was only a briefly passing thought. “Shut up Virgil, you’re barely even a real side! What are you? You’re certainly not a light side, but you also claim you’re not a dark side!”. Since theory’s started coming up about there being another dark side, I realised that would make the sides uneven (4 light, 3 dark). But then I had the thought that Virgil might still be ‘transitioning’ between light and dark. This would possibly be quite a sore spot for him. And if this was brought up, he might go into hiding, or even back to the dark sides if it was one of the lights that said it. Idek, but this has just been something on my mind. Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense.
no, it does. Thomas said in a livestream he wants to have three dark sides, three light sides, and one neutral side. Virgil doesn’t have an opposite and has been both dark and light, so it only makes sense for him to be the neutral side. we discussed this in our opposites video a little while ago if you want to check it out in more detail!
That pumpkin could have been representing Virgil in some way as he didn’t say he was a dark side until later and that he’s anxiety. He hides behind because you know, _anxiety_ , but also because he doesn’t wanna be seen with the rest of them.
Your idea on how the episode with orange starts reminds me of an ending I came up with a long time ago.
It would be happening in an end credits scene inside of Logan’s room. Logan is doing something and suddenly he stops, because he heard someone’s voice. Logan turns around and we see a shadowy figure, that has an orange hue. Orange says something and Logan freaks out. (As well as the audience)

This was great! The drawings really add to your explanation. I love hearing about people's orange side theories and the pumpkin one is not something I'd even noticed!
Edit: I just remembered in POF at 36:11 with one of the game sequences, 'blinding rage' is an option for the character to pick!!!
I also have something to kinda back up this theory, and it’s that isn’t it a weird coincidence that the asides video before this talked about Thomas ex (I believe). Now he just happens to find a new boyfriend in the next aside episode. 👀

If I'm being honest, I would love this, it gives me chills thinking of the side's not having eyeballs or making there eyes look all white, Also maybe Remus and Janus, the reason why they are "so evil" is cause of this side controlling them to be evil, if they even go out of character for 1 second, boom this side shows up and control's them back to evil
There are four little things I noticed all kinda long, but maybe they would help towards any theories being built!
Theory/Just a thing I noticed:
All of the dark sides have a good quality to them, Janus has Self-Preservation along Deceit Remus has Creativity on his side although it's darker than Roman's, he may also get another positive trait in the future! Virgil, Pre switching to neutral (He always was in some way hence the name difference but pre realization) Virgil has the filter of all fears not just irrational Anxiety. Therefore Orange may also have a redeeming quality!
NAMES (Theory):
Like Patton pointed out in Excepting Anxiety Part Two during the name reveal, Virgil's name stood out by not ending in an/on (Logan, Roman, Patton) With the two reviled Dark Sides the ending is "us" Remus and Janus so it makes sense for orange to have another us name or something like as to go with Patton having on rather than an. This pretty much confirms Virgil as the Neutral side based on his name.
ANOTHER THOUGHT:
Ever notice how all the dark sides seem spiteful towards Vigil? They are all spooky and snapy to the Light Sides but are just mean to Virgil often bringing up his fear to telling the others his name earlier on (Theorized to be about when Virgil left the dark sides and switched to fulfill his Neutral Side role/become friendlier with the light sides) Then Virgil also shows how he doesn't put up with the dark sides, being scared of them and when he said "Hey, Hi! What are you doing here?!" To Janus (forget which episode) as a result of him thinking he should be better at handling them!
Finally:
Ever notice how Virgil never refers to the dark sides as the Dark Sides? Rather only ever as "The Others" in I believe Intrusive Thoughts at the end When Virgil is talking about how he should have a better handle on them and Thomas says "You mean the dark sides?" And Virgil corrects him to the others, Only the true light sides have referred to them that way!
I haven't built these into self contained theories about the series, but they are important things I noticed and may be helpful to people making a theory!

@@PickYourPoison I also wanted to say, (and I just remembered this) Thomas made a new version of the series; Sanders Asides this probably means that two separate but connected stories will show up, that's why I think Nico will not result in the Orange Side Reveal but instead a whole new plot to follow! Obviously these are happening at the same time, so information will leak and the way the sides act towards each other will leak, but not be the main focus over on Asides. I'm also not sure we know what Thomas typed on his laptop in the first Sanders Asides video about healthy Distractions!

Virgils left eye also turned grey for some unknown reason after the courtroom scene, a lot of people were trying to figure out if Thomas was wearing a contact or is the lights cause or his bangs or somethin
yeah, i don’t know if we ever said it in a video but his right eye turns lavender (like his puppet) in moving on part 2 at 5:02 and in SvS at 38:24 for the duration of Virgil’s frame.
we’re pretty sure it’s a contact since it’s happened to the same eye more than once in the same exact lighting AND it matches his puppet. Seems too coincidental to be a coincidence at all

Something I thought of that gives more merit to the theory is how blindness and anger have been a bit of a plot point in a sanders side’s episode being the puppet episode Roman says “less you both end up blind” just a thought home you guys see this and if so what do you think
yeah, I definitely agree with that. Both blindness and rage seem to be recurring themes, which is strange since we haven't seen either very directly or for that long. That's totally another example of that.

I have a theory for you! It kind of goes with your name video, but I realized that the light sides have romAN, pattON, and logAN. The dark sides are janUS and remUS. Virgil is like a go-between side so he is unique, but what if the orange side has their name end with US or IS so it has the same sound ending.
yeah, that's definitely what we're thinking. Most people are saying -us or -il but -il doesn't make much sense if Virgil is in fact the neutral side, and I'm not sure anyone else could be neutral.
I agree fully, I don’t think -il makes sense either. Virgil fits the “one leg in one side and one leg in the other” type and it would make sense to have 3 light sides and 3 dark sides and Virgil to connect them all together.

Orange could be fully blind too though. the one exemple i have right now is justice from helltaker. sunglasses hiding blind eyes. confidence hiding the fact he is just blind with rage.

I like this theory however I think that Logan would be the side that rage affects. Remus is the opposite of Roman and Janus is the opposite to Patton. When Janus was first introduced he impersonated Patton and when Remus was first introduced he knocked out Roman. The dark sides when they’re first introduced does something to their corresponding light side. So if Logan is the corresponding light side to rage then if the pattern continues Logan would be the one he affects whether he blinds him with rage or something else like that. Like he could try to reason with Thomas about Nico but Romans and Pattons emotions overpower his reasoning. Logan finally has enough with them and their emotions and lash out after not being heard countless times and emotions always overpowering logic in some way. Thomas has been described as sensitive many times by his friends and himself and we all know that Logan hates emotions.
So I love your theory for the introduction of orange, except for one thing. I don't think Nico would cheat on Thomas. Personally (and it's cool if you disagree) I think it would be more impactful if it were a tiny inconvenience that was repeated. Like forgetting his keys/wallet or smacking his gum, cracking his knuckles, tapping or humming off key, y'know? And it builds up, hence- repressed rage. And Roman being blinded and yelling would be the perfect example of expressed rage.
I mean any number of things could bring about Orange - especially if he is rage. We just thought the idea of Nico cheating would be somewhat a direct cause of Thomas snapping but I do love the concept of a build up! We also think Nico cheating/doing something that Thomas is angered by is a possible because Nico has been set up to play a bigger role than just a one time appearance. If not Nico, I could also see Thomas unknowingly releasing the orange side because of the rage he repressed in the events of SVS / the redux!

Just a thought - during Moving On when Thomas get that phone call he hangs up because Virgil tells him to using his echo-voice. When Virgil uses his power, Thomas does what he says, potentially supporting the Do No Evil idea.

Going on the theory that the dark sides names all end in us. I think the orange sides name will be like Lucius which is Latin for grief or it will be impetus which is Latin for fury.
I also think he will pop up in Virgil’s corner and have something similar to vigils outfit.

Remus and Orange will team up.
Thomas gets off the phone and Roman pops up along with Patton. Roman is obviously angry but trying to repress the feelings. Patton is trying to calm him down and asks Logan and Virgil for help. Logan doesn’t appear and Virgil is panicking and saying “what did I do wrong. How are we going to get over this” in his echo-y voice. That’s when Roman starts to break down and tears starts to fall. Virgil and Patton realize what’s going on and their faces change to panic. Then, Roman starts to laugh and we see a familiar face pop up on the screen, it’s Remus. Remus starts to look at Logan’s spot and we hear a voice saying, “Hello there” it sounds so much like Logan but it’s distorted. It pans to Logan’s spot and we See Orange.
Orange has finally shown up and makes his introduction. He has made Thomas so angry that he has teamed up with Remus. Why? So he could think intrusive thoughts about Nico. Meanwhile, Janus is in the far bottom left corner when it pans to Patton saying, “it’s going to be alright”.
This episode is going to be a mother load of sides! Then, once everything is “calmed down” (aka Orange has taken over) Logan pops up and makes everything better and gets Roman back with the help of Virgil and his breathing exercises, makes Janus appear and confronts him. And Roman is so sad still that he ducks out like Virgil did and the next episode is getting him back.
The fact that the orange side can effect the other sides in some form is a great though. Since we already have hade two instences with this happening (as I can remember from the top of my mind). wich are, in Virgil's room and with Janus. If you are in Virgils room for to long you get effected and it is show with his eyes shadow. and with Janus by covering their ability to speak.
Toghter with that it is pawsible (I know what I did) when we meet oragne we will learn about inner and outer rage. Since it fits with the seires to teach us about mential health since how we show anger can effect us mentily in a negetive way.
