I just love that he knew the contempt that many a darker complexion women suffer, no doubt he experienced seeing his mother and sisters or other women were treated and wanted his girls to know from a child that they were beautiful, intellectually inferior to no one and I am sure they were happy to have a dad that was there for them. So many young ladies grow up without dad there reaffirming their attributes.

My guess is these people haven't lost a parent. They have no idea what it's like to grieve and yet find the strength to deliver such powerful eulogies in honor of their late father. You've said it perfectly; regardless of their views of his time in office... common decency and empathy would demand these people show some respect, for the pain and loss these ladies are feeling.
@Tee Gee it's been 7 months and almost 7 days (to the hour) that I lost my dad. I couldn't help but choke up listening to all the eulogies for Rep. Cummings. I think there's no getting over the feeling of loss, and indebtedness we feel towards our parents; but I do hope it gets easier time.

As the daughter of a man with 5 daughters, I am grateful that we all have an exceptional relationship with our father. He was always there for us and always told us how beautiful we are. We are all strong women and we owe a lot of that to our father. We need more dads who tell their girls they are beautiful and show them real love.

Dear God please bless this family, hold them in the palm of your hand and give them the much needed comfort that only you can give at this trying time.
