@@steevie9423 i mean yes, but it's evident That this Edelgard is basically very good at both even if she happens to not meet every criteria of her weapon feels like she can go tie to tie with Bedel as a save character
This has to be one of my best (And worst) years in FEH of all times. Since L!Shez, they've released one of my favorites in practically every month (And I'm talking about Top 3 in their respective games). Alfred, A!Elincia, L!Yuri, Felix, Fallen Byleth, Summer Shez, Citrinne, L!Elincia, and now a new Edelgard to end the year.
Man. What a good (And bad) year. IS almost never gave me a break while I was completing my projects.
Anyways. At least this time I'm more prepared to pull for this. At least until the spark.

Don't get me wrong, the units look amazing, and the artists did an amazing job on their sprites. But.. I'm kinda disappointed with the units they chose. As quite a few people have pointed out on Twitter, this banner is pretty unoriginal, since it's just the house leaders and Byleth (and Yunaka too, who I don't mind), and it's honestly getting a little tiring. Especially with Claude; I know he's the TT unit, but still, he only received an alt like what, three months or so back? Like when people complained about Attuned Nino, when "she already had an alt this year".
I got excited by thinking the Claude silhouette was Balthus, and I know this is a little bit of an odd choice, but I was hoping it would be Duo Balthus (+Yuri). Ranting aside, I may try and go for Dimitri, just because he's probably the one I like the most on this banner.
That's fair! I personally am just such a three houses simp, especially for Dimitri, that I can't help but be very happy with this banner. I think people complained about nino because most players haven't even played her game so most people only know her from this game.
@@stormshadowoffire To be completely honest, I like 3H too; I was pretty salty when I commented this morning, and it all just sorta came out haha, but yeah I just think it'd be nice to get some other 3H characters for a change, specifically ones who only have like one alt such as Petra or Leonie. I don't really mind the banner as much now (I get salty so easily-), but it would have been nice for another game to be represented, or have some characters from a variety of titles, like last year's banner. Ah well, I wonder who the NY banner will include? :0
I 100% don't like how often characters are getting alts. Even if they are my faves. I ranted about it with some other fehtubers
I had been saying power creep narratives were badly exaggerated for most of this year (And outside of Wind Claude, I would stand by that). But… This banner is beyond a mistake. I don’t think people understand how deeply this banner is going to damage core, fundamental mechanics of FEH.

It's not going to b damage core mechanics it's just going to change the "format".
Not saying I approve, but this is basically the same b thing that TCGs do when they soft- rotate a format via power creep.

Would armored blaze be good for rearmed robin? I have like 55 def on her and could go a higher with a s seal. I looked up the percentages and they are rlly low like 20% low, but I’m also bad at mathing.

Wouldn’t say that cuz this year got pretty good ones already since the start by Ny next Khadein, feb with staff users now with skill trigger in battle, blazing childs, brides (Tiki still is pretty good) , summer with duo Ymir, hallloween with Anna & Anna, Attuned Nino and Ginniugagap, Future and past legendary banner (lovely that only with 10 summons got both and Robin)
And the New Years banner will be units that turn off all this insanity…
Downplaying Dimitri super hard here bro has vantage, special proc every combat, DR piercing, true damage, stat buffs, cav movement, lots of DR himself, etc. You could even change him to be a far or near save with a DR special using brave soren. Edelgard is insane but I feel like they're pretty equal this time around which is nice.
Kind of surprised how much [Divine Vein (Flame)] there is in a Winter banner. All of the units are looking extremely busted with DR, DR pierce, and True Dmg. And the arts are beautiful
Raging Tempest actually makes me unreasonably pissed off. Its literally everything I wanted for L Edelgard and L Edelgard got none of it. Its like they KNEW L Edelgard's movement was complete crap but instead of fixing it they just repackaged L Edelgard but better in literally EVERY aspect.

They did the same shit to LDimitri’s remix. Atrocity II looks positively budget next to Barbarity, and Areadbhar giving only +9 is a joke.
Yeah Dimitri got completely hosed, Barbarity is exactly what I wanted from Atrocity II.

As a mega fan of all of the 3H lords, this banner makes me both happy and sad. I’m glad I’ll be able to merge up Claude easily, but I’m a bit annoyed that we got another Dimitri axe cav, because this new alt basically just makes his summer alt redundant (especially considering that cavs have a much smaller pool of skills to make them unique!). And with Edelgard, even though she now has a different colour, idk… I just feel like every new alt just does the same kind of thing but better? I have all of my Edelgards (except fallen) at +10, and I want to be able to use them in diff situations but they’re all so similar, you know. Especially Legendary, Summer and now Winter…
I also just wish they had given l!Edelgard assault troop in her refine like this lmao

Thing is the banner is good, but at the same point even with power creep you have choose your Legends and probably a hero Rises coming up so it's sort of feels like they're trying to set up something for that. Making it so that you will want to pull on whatever is coming up.

Don’t replace it. 80%DR goes hard when scowl effects are taken into account. Losing the chance of a follow-up is meaningless when most of the units he’ll face will die in one hit or have NFU anyways.
@@xchan99 I don't know. Most premier nukes these days have NFU and/or damage piercing (or at least, DR halving). It kind of means that skill does nothing against many nukes
@@random__idiot Most DR piercing is tied to specials going off, which means most of the time Byleth will not have to worry about that, as he has super Scowl.
And the omnipresence of NFU kinda helps the skill honestly, as it means the 80% DR will be active against them.
There are some few units that have none special based DR piercing, and against those no other B skill will be helpful except Hardy Fighter, which means giving up his own prf Special.
Maybe in the future we get better Fighter skills for him, but right now, his own is his best in slot IMHO.

Can we stop giving every range units NFU and Tempo for FREE and go back to putting it in skills and with hone or drive effects...
That's just invalidating the whole point of unit building and team building when they do this.
Wow I never thought about this. Cavs desperately need these effects but only the premium seasonal units get it for free on their weapon.

The 3 last ranged cavs are literally only stacking damage and stats in their A/B/C with Catch/Flared sparrow/Strike/Lull/Incite.
I'm going to predict if Dimitris special isn't a perf that it's only melee Cavs non beast and dragons but it be kinda cool if beast got it
It'll have a huge impact if infantry (read: omni tanks) can get it. Kvasir's reign of terror lasted a good week if so

Since 2021, Christmas banners are sparkable for both F2P and Feh Pass users.
This Byleth is stupid strong. But people said the same about summer fjorm. I am not going crazy over any of these besides their potential fodder
Tbh this isnt even fun anymore for me. I used to enjoy this game because i could use my favorite units with wacky, fun, and weird builds. But it feels like i cant do that anymore. Like i literally need certain skills just to kill certain units. Powercreep has really gotten to this game, to the point where i almost quit FEH.. also dont even get me started on summoner duels.
this banner kinda makes me mad... we get the exact same unit playstyles we had but 10x better. instead of reimagining the units to make different/more creative things to breach apart from their counterparts, they do the same but better than the units we had. IS: "hey you like the summer 3 houses guys and girls from last year?? well check this winter alts of those same units!!!" they do the same yet better!!! idk dude, as much as I love and have invested into this game It just feels like a JENGA tower... they add and add stuff on top of stuff till it will eventually collapse.
on another hand we have a great red hero rises banner in: a!Triandra, Duo byleths, Ninja Sanaki, Kavazeir.
Weaving Fighter is good on Byleth cause he's already stopping people from procing their specials that pierces DR. It won't be as good with armors that don't have the same special preventions.
Ya, I'm just worried about trying to use a wary fighter effect in today's meta. Everyone has offensive NFU, so typically you're just removing your ability to double for DR
Recent nukes like gullveig and kvasir also have full nfu so it's not like preventing your follow up with 15 speed is a huge price to pay for dr and healing

Zelgius plays a different role than her. Not a galeforcer plus having a dual ranged beacon/blaze in lightless Luna. Plus is a MUCH better savior. Edeldgard gets punished hard by not getting most of her kit if she isn't solo
@DanDaDnaMan You're right. I was poking fun at Zelgius's role being a little ambiguous at launch where as Edelgard can be a galeforcer, raid boss and even a save tank; albeit at the cost of *some* of her power, not enough to make her a poor savior imo.
All of these units are insane. Every single one. Like what. This banner is broken. So much so that idk which one is the worst of the bunch cuz I think they all have potential to be incredibly meta threats. Yunaka is literally an absurd nuke. Edelgard is… Edelgard. Dimitri looks like an annoying af hit and sit unit. And Byleth to me looks like probably the best savior in the game. I’m actually fairly certain on that. Like they’re all crazy what is all of this powercreep and why we still getting pretty much full three houses lord banners.
Byleths are pretty much cancelling most units, only ones I can think of rn that could deal with them is like, dr pierce Validar and Ninja Sanaki, both being units with big pure dmg without potentially receiving hits to do it (Gullveig/Kvasir and similars) and without overreliance on their specials to do so (Wind Tribe Claude and similars), since for the former you're required to have stat bulk which is rather rare for ranged nukes, and the latter would require you to have precharged special+B!Robin+built-in special precharge before atk to use the special on the first hit, and even those two could potentially fail due to support+bulk...

Im so sick of three houses. Can IS do anything besides randomly throw a stronger Edelgard or Claude at us? I know I'm being hyperbolic but, damn. At least Yunaka managed to get on the banner without being a demote I guess.

I am pissed off with Dimitri's envoy participation for Xmas this year because I wanted to finish spark on Ratatoskr banner and that's really disappointing unless I am still left any orb from this tempest trial for Dimitri after I actually spend the amount from remaining required 20 summons orbs from this TT lol and also his B skill name is weird in a way that he got now branded a barbarian but his atrocities were just pointed to the imperial people because he had a reason to hate them and the reason was valid Thales and his band were accounting themselves to be coming from the empire and Edelgard was cooperating with them but she was his stepsister and seeing her it brought hatred on his sanity and that's branded just a trauma and horror in a way but barbarian is far from who he really is lol

I really don't like this banner, more 3h with engage crumbs and everyone is cracked. I'd only pull on this if I could actually give Dimitri special to selkie (because he would have 2 perfs otherwise) and even if it is an inheritable, beast probably won't get it anyway.
Only reason I'm not super mad about it is because they released a cute comic with selkie in it which is more than I expected for this year. I immediately made it my profile picture (also velouria and lethe are there which is a bonus)
I'm so tired of 3H dude. IS just puts 3H in almost every seasonal banner like they're afraid the banner will fail and not the fact that the majority of people haven't played any FE game before Awakening or Fates. And even Awakening and Fates are losing relevance after the 3DS e-shop is dead.
It's just frustrating seeing the 3H get something in almost every seasonal banner and so quickly between banners too when so many of the other games get nothing.
Even if I like Yunaka I won't bother spending orbs on this banner. She's on a horse and even if her current skill set is fine it will get powercrept and using cav units in general is a pain in the ass with how most maps are tailor made to make them difficult to use. I'll just burn through the free summons and if I get any of the 3H characters on the banner they're immediately getting turned into a book and foddered off. I just don't want to look at them.

Yep, and even when an older series gets a seasonal banner they end up sharing it with Awakening/Fates/3H anyways
3H is an extremely popular Fire Emblem game. It reigns supreme for 4 freaking years and even made an inspiration for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on having the same school setting, 3 routes, and 2 DLCs.

i’ve waited seven years for a soleil alt and honestly i’m mad about this banner, same pandering to 3h lords again twice in one year, and the power creep is seriously making me consider quitting feh and i’ve been playing since day one
On one hand I am really happy for new busted Edelgard. On the other as a Gullveig fan I am a bit sad that while her banner is still running we get flared sparrow in two rows from hit and is a melee form of her. I love both but back to back like this is a bit odd. Gullvieg got shafted by this release not being spread out.
Heck even if was on the new years banner it would have given Gullveig some time. At least multiple galeforce units on the same team isnt the worst.
And once again, Edelgard won my heart :)

With the way the powercreep is going, these are just as good as whatever they've got coming. It at anything they'll compliment each other.

Honestly couldn't care less about this banner. Id probably quite at this point if i remotely cared about competitive modes. Luckily i don't and plus of course it's the same 4 3h units that are naturally broken once again for the 20th time. Thank god 3h has no other units but these 4 oh wait.

Not really. Wind Tribe Claude is still insane and I don't expect grail units to be crazy.
