If your grandkids ever ask 'What was live music like when you were a kid"?Just play them this and I guarantee they'll be lifting their jaws off the floor.Simply put, magical, mesmerising stuff, and the genius of Rory reigns supreme. The Maestro ☘
I'm so glad Rory got to play with Albert and Muddy and some of his other heroes this is great and these men recognized how great Rory was too I love you forever angel Rory. Just imagine the fabulous jam that's going on in heaven!
100% spot on. Rory was in a league all of his own. Heard Jimmy Page in an interview talking about Rory and it really pissed me off. He just seemed condescending, and had this smug, smirk on his face and just stated something along the lines of "Oh, he was a nice chap." . Jimmy Page couldn't carry Rory Gallaghers guitar picks!
@@cliffhanger5211 I've been playing the guitar for over forty years, and I can assure you Rory Gallagher was THE most technically gifted rock/blues guitarist in history. His use of conventional and not so conventional scales is mind-blowing. He also had the soul of a true bluesman. Put simply, Rory was a genius; Rory's playing is from heaven, a gift from God. Jimmy Page.....A great player, a superb player, one of the best, but he's no Rory Gallagher. Different leagues!!!
And all three are no longer with us. Sad that someone didn't have the foresight to do a multi-track recording of these three fabulous artists jamming together....
Just magic, thank you. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that our (ever gracious) Rory got to play with his heroes in his all too short life here. And deservedly so. RIP Rory.
This reminds me of the great jam with The Grateful Dead, most of The Allman Brothers and the guys from Fleetwood Mac. Not so much in the music, but in the way that they connect and let the music take you away.
That tune is "Sex Machine" off of Sly Stone's album STAND! They couldn't give Jimi the credits because he was under contractual pressure to create an album for his record company and would've been in violation of his contract with them making himself liable to be sued with expensive legal costs. Freddy Stone's given the credits for playing lead guitar on it, but it was actually Jimi Hendrix. Check it out, it's mind blowing and ten times this good!
a Very grooved breaking of the ice, these guys are gone and yet somehow I feel the energy has been passed to the posterity. Lets see what happens and do our best to keep it goin'!
Johnny B. Gayden There were only 6 tracks on the album (this song was #6). 5 & 6 were recorded live at The Paleo Folk Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, July, 1983. Tracks 1-4: Recorded live at the Jazz Festivalin Montreux, Switzerland, July 1979. Aaron Burton was the bassist for this gig.
Wow the bass playing was amazing, I thought it wasn't Gerry MC Avoy who is Rory's usual bass player as his style of playing bass sounded different to Gerry's. What a great collaboration between these true geniuses and blues legends. I enjoyed it so much and I was listening Roy Buchanan before.
A bit of a meander, damn good fun, just like the original..."I bet we blew your mind!" I think was Sly's comment at closing. Sounds like two players having a ton of fun, which likely wasn't a tall order, considering the principals. thanks for this.
One great Rory said half the guitarists he liked weren't on the best list where he was #1, humble Rory as always would never say I'm the cats meow. Rory loved to jam, that he did with the worlds great American Blues guitarists. Rory's the man R.I.P. men, you played the fck out of the blues and where the greats. Rory will always be ACES here!
Truly mesmerising, all really getting off on playing together, one of the most amazing collaborations I've ever heard in blues style and improvisation. Only sort of artists playing this loose would be ones like Prince, Markus Miller.
how does it feel to be the best guitar player in the world the interviewer asked jimmy... ask rory jimmy replied.. love the albert collins rhythm and rory´s playing. really sound great together!
Great album!! I am a great fan of Rory but I confess I did not even know this album existed? Not sure it is still available... was it ever issue as a CD? :(
🔬 finders 💿 Keepers ⚓ Im guessing less than 2000 pressed at time of release ⌚ Doubt any since 💿 💡 I would be surprised. Lenny Kaye would know. . he the HisToRY collector 🎼 ❤

Yeah the G man!!
And all three are no longer with us. Sad that someone didn't have the foresight to do a multi-track recording of these three fabulous artists jamming together....
Rory could play anything with anybody.
This is a great timer-track for the immersion (heater) -- bass players bath once a week.
And the drums...are very good.....
Just magic, thank you. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that our (ever gracious) Rory got to play with his heroes in his all too short life here. And deservedly so. RIP Rory.
Took the words out my mouth.Beautiful!
i´m in heaven. And i´m a sinner. THANKS.

Wow. I am in Heaven with you, Rory. What a great jam! Can it get any better than this? My God!
This reminds me of the great jam with The Grateful Dead, most of The Allman Brothers and the guys from Fleetwood Mac. Not so much in the music, but in the way that they connect and let the music take you away.
