In 1972 I was in a planter behind a bulldozer planting pine trees. Some how I busted my head open and was taking to the hospital. I had no clue but some stitches fixed me up. I totally understand.
The hard hat deal cuts both ways unfortunately. When I was on the line crew, I got hit from falling debris many times because I could not see it coming due to my peripheral vision being blocked by said hard hat. Up in the bucket, I got myself into positions I would never have, once again because of my vision being limited by the hard hat. First thing to hit the ground when you are doing aerial work.....your hard hat, look out below! LOL
I know what you mean and if I'm off the ground that's why I wear a petzl strap on helmet. I got a question, did you go back to watching wades channel again??? LOL I'm glad to have you as a viewer and I ❤️❤️❤️ a cummins!
+cotontop3 LOL, I never stopped. It was supposed to be a joke, but when I am on my phone my typing leaves a lot to be desired. I have about 3 million miles behind Cummins powered equipment. Even my Dodge dually is pushing 1.1 million now. So yeah, you might say I am a bit of a fan too. I appreciate you and your videos, thanks for the warm welcome.
hey man, glad to here Derrick is back cuttin!! Good video as usual pard, and I ain't tellin you nothin that you didn't already mention in the video but you are absolutely a 110% correct. I'm really bad about my dunce cap and not wearing it when I should be, and it only takes one time not havin it. Also the reasoning of the video too, I have as well as everyone I'm sure have been when you KNOW somethin ain't gonna work and you're asked or told still to go do it........ gets me piss wowned quicker n a wrist rocket shootin gravel on a horse's ass! I can't stand being told or forced to waste time and money when I already know it won't work out. Thanks for the story and the reminder, that my shotty attitude can and will get me hurt if I let things get to me. Be safe in em woods man
+cotontop3 Lol, yes sir I just hope I don't sound like a big dummy all the time haha. Likewise with the videos and knowledge you share with us everyday pard
You're a good man Cotontop3. I knew I wasn't seeing the "true" degree of incline when you were showing it - but I sensed it, especially when the dead branch crashed down on you cab and you let loose verbally speaking. You are not the first, and won't be the last on being on a steep slope, on an unfamiliar machine getting sh!t scared out of you, but that is the way you learn a whole lot, real fast. Fantastic week of vids. Hang in there, we'll say another prayer for Darrick. Again - thanks for the fun vids.
BigUnit4570 great post to the channel.....Tim has a big heart and has a great mind about him. I praise the Lord for finding this channel.....good family, hard workers and know the Lord.
Glad to see you your loader again bud! Got whacked good last week by a branch that fell out of another tree when I was limbing up an oak. I Always wear a helmet and chaps, certainly was a reminder why i do.
"Happier than Jim Nabors with wheelbarrow full of buttholes" that's the one my uncle used to use all the time. Glad to see Derrick is back but surely not as much as you are.
Idk if you'll reply on these old videos but how in the world do you see the front of the trailer when your swinging to the right with the boom in your face?
even in the sand and gravel mine that I work in. many fatalities are from ethier fall protection not being worn when it should be, seat belts not being worn in mobile equipment no hardhats in hazardous areas,. all that has to do with aditude. if I got a bad attitude about safety, then I'm bound to get hurt or get someone else hurt because I'm ethier in a rush. or in a bad mood.
Great to hear that Derrick's back in harness but just don't you let him do too much too soon. Re your recent videos I had thought you were a trifle grumpy! I thought though this was because it was a machine you were not entirely familiar with coupled with the really difficult terrain you were trying to work.
You read that perfectly while watching my stuff last week. I wish there was a way I make the camera show the ground we work on but the camera will not show it. That machine is by far the most difficult to try and master of anything that I've ever been in. Most people don't know that since running tractors and machines since before I was 10 years old has taken its toll on my neck and back and I've had to have major surgery on my neck in 2013. The track cutter hurts be bad to run it but I get it done anyhow because I'm it if Derrick isn't there. My sympathy tank for Derrick was on empty after he's been off for nearly 5 months. I tried to be good about it but man I was just completely fed up with quite a few things. I appreciate your views and comments!
Perhaps you should include some still shots or a slide show of the terrain issues you have to cope with but think about issues of scale in pictures like these to give perspective to viewers. Eg someone or something being stood / placed in the picture like you stood by the wheel of a skidder or near the wide open jaws of one of these machines. To show the steepness of a slope use a couple or perhaps three surveyors poles (marked off in 12" sections in alternate red and white) spaced about 2yds apart up the slope and then stand at rt angles to them with all the poles visible. The steepness should then be easily visable by counting down the stripes and comparing one pole to another.
Amen Bud . Lord Knows i have my moments to this day . My Fuse has gotten a bit longer over the years as i got older . But when i was younger it didn't take much for my attitude to change from good to bad . I Learned over time that there were things i hated to do but to keep a good attitude about it & slow down a bit because if i myself have a bad attitude about getting something done that i didn't want to do in the 1st place as i have a tendency to rush & wind up hurting myself in those situations . I have a few battle scars in my skull as well . one where a tire iron slipped while taking a tire off the rim & hit me in the head so hard i was spewing blood out of my head like a court square fountain you can see the scar when i get my head shaved for spring & summer . it's one reason why i dont shave my head completely bald . (it was Around Spring 1999 i was rushing to change out a tire on one of our Mack dump trucks & get it & the driver back hauling dirt that day cause A tire blew out & we had 50 loads of dirt to haul before rain came in later that evening . ) As i might have said in another video it's good to see Derrick Back . Mack
This video will explain it some. He had some major surgery and all kinds of complications from it and has probably missed close to 7 months of work since May of 2015. th-cam.com/video/8X8oiZS_HzY/w-d-xo.html
Still waiting on the story your Mamma told me about the time you and Kevin thought it would be a good idea to make it rain in the bathroom. Something about Hot Wheels... :)
I can relate to that, once me and my cousin thought it would be a good idea to pour water on the floor in our grandparents linoleum bathroom floor. Our 3 yr old minds did not know that excessive water would damage it . I feel so bad now.

I had my had hat on. Just knocked it off. A long time ago.

I'm not sure if he is or not lol.
How you been doing?
Glad to see you your loader again bud! Got whacked good last week by a branch that fell out of another tree when I was limbing up an oak. I Always wear a helmet and chaps, certainly was a reminder why i do.

I have just started watching your channel a few weeks ago I'm just curious to why Derrick has been out. Did he have an accident logging?

Man in going to miss the cutter videos
+Ethan Mcburnett There'll still be more
Yuck!!!!Lol. Yes running a track buncher on a hill isn't fun.
Still waiting on the story your Mamma told me about the time you and Kevin thought it would be a good idea to make it rain in the bathroom. Something about Hot Wheels... :)
Hmmmmm, I do hate that you've been able to spend time with my mom!
I can relate to that, once me and my cousin thought it would be a good idea to pour water on the floor in our grandparents linoleum bathroom floor. Our 3 yr old minds did not know that excessive water would damage it . I feel so bad now.
Well, that explains a lot. Lol.
