You tickled me with this one Tim…”contemplating life decisions…selling the grinder…”. I’ve got a little tractor work business and I’ve got a 1P24 3 point grinder. Those comments describe like half of any grinding work I get into…lol. Mine takes about twice the time yours does too. I don’t have the patience to stay at it for hours so I don’t do it often and usually only if it’s part of a bigger job. Thanks!
Every now and then I get into a job that is just way tougher than I thought it was going to be. It definitely causes you to "think about a lot of things" lol. You got it done and that's what matters.
Hey Tim !!! Yepper,, Sometimes it pays to have bigger machines, but you have tighter places to work that the bigger machines can't get to !!! The cost alone would have to be figured out to your advantage to get the jobs done !! 👍👍👍👍👍
I think that what you have is going to work for you 98% of the time. My homeboy Larry used to have a big Carlton towed grinder and it had a Deutz Diesel engine and would flat make the chips fly. Of course, it wouldn’t go through a 36” gate but he would sometimes hoist it over fences with his crane and then use a garden tractor to move it around. Mother of invention indeed.
How do you eat an elephant one bite at a time just be grateful that you can get even that big of a stump grinder to that because I'm in Southern California and a lot of times that are 30 inches wide that I can barely get my Rayco 25 HD handlebar unit in the backyard to do stumps even bigger than that. When you spend 6-8 hours on one with a helper then you really start contemplating life

Grinding sumps is all about technique, with that 2550 it should’ve taken 45 minutes to an hour at the most
Those big stumps with surface roots are the money makers. Bid high!
