We got free newspapers - NY Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, etc. I was appalled that the English language newspapers and news programs over there were so much better, so much more detail and insight. That is when I understood that we do NOT have freedom of the press. That, in fact, most of it is simply propaganda and either outright lies or lies by omission. Needless to say that I was shocked and I never saw my country the same way after that.
