Going to be trying this in the daycare I work at! I feel like I’m at my wits end because “disciplining” at home is no longer a thing, and putting 30 kids in a room whose parents believe “they do no wrong” is a challenge 😅

Wish I knew this sooner. By saying, "OK"?, it's giving the other person a choice in the matter. And seems like when they have a voice in the decision too, they feel obligated to do what they're told. Rather than just taking a command.

Simple, yet politely way of taking care of people.

Love how she ended this with…”just try it once, ok.” Haha

I forgot I have listened to this before. I have to agree that Cynthia is onto something. I need to talk to her personally as my coach (lol). I have a 5 year old grand daughter that I help out with at least once a week or more & often stays all night. Love her to pieces but she is very strong willed like her dad was (my son) and I do my best to bring out the best in her and yet make her behave kindly. It’s challenging and her older brother is just the opposite, easy going & well mannered….He even struggles to please her & gives in to her. I’m seeking ways to cultivate her strong personality into a positive adult. I know this can be such an asset to her as an adult if we help impart Godly values in her. 🙏🏻

I have heard that saying ok all the time is the wrong thing to do- can’t remember why now. However, I do find myself doing this and I’ve always thought it works with both my kids (and my husband)! Very interesting and helpful, thank you.

It actually works. I just tried it on my 3 and 4 years old. 😂

This is the complete opposite of what I was taught in child development.

One of my children is strong willed, but beyond reason and extremely volatile in his moods. He is only 10 but not afraid to break things in the house or physically attack other people and refuses to go to school. I think he needs professional help and medication.

This is exactly what I’m dealing with. 10 yr old boy, but we homeschool. So so hard. Praying for you because I can relate.

I wonder what the magic word is in our home language.

Why does an adult often feel like they "lose" when they can't get a child to do what they want..(?) That's just childish.
