Cambodia 4K - Koh Rong; Amazing Beaches & Crazy Roads

- Join me as I make the journey to Cambodia's Largest Island, Koh Rong. As I endure the harsh road from Kampot to Sihanoukville to catch the ferry, I can't imagine there are any worse roads anywhere... until I get onto the island. Along with roads of mud, there are some amazing places, the best beaches in the kingdom, and some beautiful sunsets to see, on this remote Cambodian Island.

Dry season means a trip to Sunset Beach, west coast of Koh Rong Sanloem. Absolutely beautiful!

As a Canuck in exile I lived on KR almost 8 years ago. Soksan was built as the lodgings of the TV show Survivor which shot two seasons just north around the point. That sand squeaks as you walk on it and the waters are shallow some 600m offshore. Truly magic. Glad it hasn't been truly ruined like Sihanoukville😊

As a small country that is on a rise lots of things need to be changed you really can't expect everything remains the same. Sihanoukville and Kompot will be so much changes bcoz it'll be the main seawater for transportation to reduce cost paying for near by countries. But koh kong and kept will be the touristy destinations including many small islands. To me it's good to devide commercial and vacations zones 👍🙂
Floyd , best way to avoid the road from HE... (double hockey sticks) is go by train, from PP-Sih. The train from PP is nice to Sihanoukville, but longer then a van/bus.

There is a road now between koh touch and longset beach. Its pretty rough at the moment. I did it on the back of a motorbike taxi. The next day on a mountain bike.
Oh great news. It looked like a road went thru on Google maps but the locals told me I had to go around. 🤷♂️ Good news for the island. 👍 I hope they can find some decent material to fill the roads. Thanks for your comment. 🙏

The road need alot of budget to build so it will wait and restore in 2024 with high tech for foundation soil

Wow! Never been there but always wanted to go check that koh Rong out some times in the future. Probably next month as I will make my way to few countries then will drop by Cambodia for the last stop. Looking forward to it, can’t wait and so excited.

this road has been built several times but it still can't stay long due to the underground soil condition.
Yes that soil is very poor 🙁 I hope they have a better plan for the future 🙏

I pay 💰 heavily for health insurance. 🤦♂️ Plenty of options tho depending on your circumstances 👍. Cash to see a doctor for a prescription etc …is like $40 CAD. Dentist teeth cleaning about the same 👍
How much did you pay for the bike?
Hello thanks for the comment 👍 I’ve been renting so many bikes lately but I think this was 200-250 Baht for the day? 🤷♂️ One of the family members of the resort owned it so no deposit required. 👍
