Timely sermon. Believe me when I say , the devil is INSIDIOUS. He knows what you love and want...in my case as a recovering addict, he tempts me with my drug of choice in the homes of the two women I do private duty care for: Tramadols. I have no intention and /obsession to use it...I can only PRAY to the fortitude to resist... it would end badly; trust me! Thanks, Father..😔

Just a thought: to reduce temptation re tramadol, would it help to keep a pill diary with your patients where you record each dose dispensed (time, date, number of pills) and ask them to sign/initials. That way there would always be a record someone could check that would tell them how many pills should be left i(before next refill). Increasing the probability of getting caught would reduce my temptation to try. Just a random idea.
Be strong girl. Pray the rosary in your mind everyday on your way to work. Believe me the devil flees. Mother Mary stands between the devil and you when you pray the rosary.
Tramadol caused my sister to stop breathing. She was not discovered until she was brain dead for 45 minutes. Her heart was still beating at the hospital and her respiration was on a machine. Her son came a day later as he was across the state, and working, and pulled the "plug." Because they told him she would be a vegetable if by a miracle she woke up. Tramadol kills period. You need to find another drug of choice.
Father, I watch your homilies and sometimes I'll come back after a while and listen to them again. Even the older ones, like this, strike me as fresh and overflowing with the truth. Definitely true for me that ultimately I fail miserably and have crashed and burned and had no idea why until God in his mercy has allowed me to turn to him and now I invite him back to take first place in my life. There are literally hundreds of people of Faith who played an integral and irreplaceable role in the development of the West and the development of science. I'd wager David Hume and the others wish they could take back all the damage they did as they spend eternity apart from the very God who created them. Hopefully, they made deathbed confessions and in the icy grip of the Reaper repented their evil ways. Eternity is a long time and death ultimately claims us all no matter how hard we try to escape it. Ultimately, both the good AND the evil we do in this life is judged at the moment of our death - I hope we are all ready for it when it comes.
Temptation is also just physical suffering. When the satisfaction of life is not at its fullest and there are options to temporary quench that dissatisfaction or distance from the satisfaction from life. So I see it as Jesus Christ probably or definitely never "thought" about giving in or was as we perceive "tempted", but he was suffering from the fact that there were other options to quench his suffering other than life and God himself. But it's impossible for him to actually succumb.
He led me and tempted me away from Catholicism into a Pentecostal church . My biggest mistake I ever made . Thankfully I returned home , don't be tempted by cheap words from Born Again Christians. Always remember who tought you the Gospel. ❤

I must say that I so want to come back to my Catholic roots and the faith I was brought up in but there is only one wall that I always hit and it's called "Mary" The worship of Mary and the teaching that she is Co-redemptress are so repulsive to me when the bible clearly states that there is only ONE Saviour If it wasn't for Mary I would be back in Confession, Eucharist and Mass and all the sacraments. Interesting homily but misses a few important points. Christ in his divinity would not have been tempted. Christ in his full humanity would have know temptation. And this humanity, this suffering love to the point of death on a cross, this is the very thing Satan in his temptations wants Christ to renounce. Cf. Johannes Metz 'Poverty of Spirit'.
There no goodness that is outside of God. Any desire you have to do a "good" act, comes from God. A "good" act is an act that is in line with how God wants us to live. An evil act is something OUTSIDE of God's law that ultimately injures the self or others. You lack the authority to define what is "good" or "evil" in of yourself, because you are a fallen human being who is not very long for this Earth (as are we all).

Interesting homily but misses a few important points. Christ in his divinity would not have been tempted. Christ in his full humanity would have know temptation. My point was the MDGs were not done Bill Gates' way.
