Samui's secret hidden beaches? th-cam.com/video/UvQOSUE9Dzw/w-d-xo.html
Dude, what a surprise to see you doing a traveling vid. Cycling and Koh Samui - two of my favourite pastimes! ❤
Where do you normally ride?
@@GregorBrown OK, so I have to confess that I don't actually ride much. I live in Bohinj Slovenija and I watch a lot of races (both male and female), and of course all of your coverages. And now I see that you have a bunch of travel videos. My wife and I also love Bali so there is some binge watching to be done.
Oh, just in the off chance that you don't know, you need to hunt down the most delicious fruit in the world - the mangosteen. I like to say that the mangosteen is proof that God exists.
How informative & detailed you are! Great travel vlog. 👌🏼
Thank you so much for the compliment! I'm really glad you found the vlog on the best areas to stay in Koh Samui informative and detailed. It's always great to hear when the effort put into creating content is appreciated. Stay tuned for more! 🌴✈️
I have only been to Koh Samui the once and stayed on the northern end of Chaweng. As a family this was a great location but we are currently planning our next trip and will be more adventurous. The great thing about KS is that there are so many options, we will be coming back for years to come and always exploring a little more each time.
It's great to hear about your experience in Koh Samui and your plans to be more adventurous on your next trip! You're absolutely right about the island's diverse options. It sounds like you have many exciting trips ahead, discovering more of what Koh Samui has to offer each time. Wishing you and your family fantastic adventures in your future visits! 🌴🌊
Fantastic information. Thank you.
Thank you! I'm really glad you found the information useful. If you have any more questions or need further info, feel free to ask! 😊
Great content, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video of my favourite island. Thanks my friend. I have pressed the sub button and look forward to the next video. Only a matter of time before I get back there 🙏
Thank you so much 👍
Be there in 6 weeks. Cant wait. Thank you for a great video 20:07
great show very informative
Glad you enjoyed it
I stayed in Banrak. I found a lot of the beaches hard to access because the big hotels block them off from the street. Like fisherman's village I went through there a few times and ate there at least a couple of times and never saw the beach. The big hotels and high fences were intimidating for me to just wander into to see what was behind them. What is the policy on that?
The main entrance to Chaweng Beach looks like a busy alley way and oh what a surprise I had discovering what was going on down that lane. I noticed people coming and going and I was like, " What the heck is down there?"
The accommodations were incredibly inexpensive and I had a hard time picking which place to stay at. The food all over the island was delicious, fresh, and very reasonably priced.
I was there at the beginning of December, I think the end of the rainy season, so overcast most of the time. What is the peak months there for sun and fun?
Hey Drew, thanks for your comment! In Thailand, all beaches are public and free to access, but as you noted, sometimes hotels and resorts can make it seem less accessible. Often, you can walk through these properties to get to the beach without any issues, as most are quite accommodating. Fisherman's Village, for example, has a beach that's a bit hidden but definitely accessible.
For Chaweng Beach, that busy alleyway entrance is indeed a surprise gateway to a beautiful beach area, on the end were I was at at the Homm hotel, the North end.
Regarding the best time to visit for sun and fun, December through February is generally the peak season, with lovely weather and less rain. That being said, I was there the week of Christmas and the weather was bad but for that one day. (see my next vid)
I'm glad you found the accommodations and food to be great and affordable. Thai cuisine is renowned for its freshness and flavors, and Samui offers some of the best. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, and I hope your next visit is full of sunshine and clear skies! 🌞🏖️🇹🇭✨
I have been three Times in samui. First one in Lamai at Beach Republic. And twice in chaweng at La Vida. Will be back in march in chaweng
Sounds like you've really enjoyed your trips to Koh Samui! Chaweng is a great choice. Have a fantastic return in March! 🌴🇹🇭
I just got back to the UK from Bo Phut. I was at Fisherman's Village and I loved it. I'm going Lamai next year. I was gonna go to Phuket but I'm not convinced by it.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Fisherman's Village in Bo Phut! Lamai is a great choice for your next trip. Yeah, for Phuket, you got to stay in other parts and explore, not just the main town that's a bit too much tourists.
Phuket is more touristy to be honest. I prefer Samui 1000 times to Phuket.
@@katjaxxx7353 Yh I've made up my mind. 3 days in Pattaya, 3 days in Bankok and then 20 days in Koh Samui. Not convinced about Pattaya now. Bit sleazy.
@@forcesensitive6371jomtien area in pattaya is lovely rather than in the main bit
Great video great energy, great rooms and the prices is maybe not so great. We stay in Kemi many times less prices but now it’s 2024 so all around the world that’s to that thank you for the video. Peace out from Denmark.
Thanks, Jens! Hotel prices do vary, and it's true that prices have changed over time. Glad you enjoyed the video. Greetings to Denmark! 🇩🇰
Thanks!
Buddy, thanks so much!
I will be staying at the Colorize Hotel. I hope is a cool place to stay
not familiar with that hotel but you'll love Samui, such a good vibe.
Lamai , looks the best . Im single though, but dont like crowded places.
Lamai is a great choice for a more laid-back vibe away from the crowds. Enjoy! 🌴🇹🇭
I stay in the short time bungalows beside the Lamai Gauntlet
Staying in bungalows can offer a unique and cool experience. Hope you enjoyed your time in Lamai! 🌴🇹🇭
GB! Haha. My wife and I were just talking about you last night! Someone in a video from Italy mentioned checking out the restaurant in Polignano a Mare. We were like "shiiiiiii, Gregor said it was not worth it!" Glad to see you living the life! Which is better overall, Italy or Thailand.
That's a fun coincidence to hear about your conversation! As for Italy vs. Thailand, both countries are fantastic with their unique charms and experiences. However, I'm really loving Thailand these days! The culture, the landscapes, and the vibe here are just phenomenal. Glad you're enjoying the content and living vicariously through the adventures! 🌴🇹🇭 vs 🍝🇮🇹
@@GregorBrown Hahaha. Right on. We are comparing the two locations for our trip and were anazed that you wete also there when we searched Thailand (wasn't recommended) - of all places in the world. Appreciate the perspective.
Love the content!
Great review , informative and entertaining at the same time .
Much appreciated! Have you been to Samui?
was that the Homm Chura ? Gregory . Nice choice
Yes, that was Homm Chura! Good eye, and definitely a nice choice for a peaceful stay in Koh Samui. 🌴😊
I’m staying in Bo Phut in July. I’ve booked a place on the beach called Pico Samui. The price is good but I really want to stay at the Peace Resort. I have a Seaview room booked at Pico & the price is good & I hear the food is fantastic.
your plans for Koh Samui sound wonderful! Bo Phut is a great choice, and it sounds like you've found a fantastic spot with Pico Samui. Enjoy the sea views and the delicious food! 🏖️
Nice video .... but the last time I was there , the pollution problem was really bad.:((((
That's too bad but luckily for me the times I visited it hasn't been a problem
Can you please tell me how to book a room in that hotel in the north end of Chaweng beach? You said it’s called «home» but I couldn’t find it anywhere. It would REALLY help me because I plan to stay there for at least 6 nights. Thank you 🙏
Links in description 👍
Too bad you didn't include Mae Nam village with its Mae Nam beach and its Everest Resort. A lot cheaper than your options, Thai style bungalows and just 5 minutes off the beach. Peaceful and quiet.
Appreciate the tip about Mae Nam village and Everest Resort. It's great to hear about affordable, peaceful options. It is definitely on my list asn an honorable mention for future videos!! ;). 🌴🇹🇭
Are there scenic routes to drive around the island to see views?
And how long to drive around the island?
Absolutely, Koh Samui is surrounded by stunning scenic routes perfect for a leisurely drive. 🚗💨 The island's coastal road offers breathtaking views and can typically be driven around in just a few hours. Don’t miss the chance to explore the northern and southern parts for the full experience. Enjoy your journey around this beautiful island!
Think the sea is still not really clear
Hey, I stayed in Lamai in 2008. They had small huts directly on the beach for $5 a night. Was wondering if they would still be there or have they been removed for the more luxury resorts?
Hey Craig! It's amazing how much Lamai has changed. Many of those small huts have been replaced by more upscale accommodations. There might still be a few around, but they're becoming rarer as the area develops.
@@GregorBrown that’s a bit of a shame. Hopefully be heading back to Thailand soon. Last time I went to Koh Chang. Visited Koh Mak and Koh kham! Beautiful water over there also.
Just saw your vid and subscribed, check out Samui Jasmine Resort in Lamai, fabulous hotel!
Happy to hear. thanks!!
Samui is also my favourite island.
Samui truly is a gem - beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and delicious food. Glad it's your favorite too! 🌴🇹🇭
Hola, ¿cómo
6:12 OMG! I about died laughing, you couldn’t find another word for where it drops down from Bangkok? I mean I guess there’s already a “kok” might as well be a “crotch” 😂😂. Love it… and love your video too!! ❤😊
Let us have your view on Maenam...
Maenam is a serene spot in Koh Samui, known for its laid-back vibe and beautiful beach. It's perfect for those looking for a peaceful retreat away from the busier parts of the island. Definitely worth a visit! 🌴🌊
@@GregorBrown many thanks for that... you're spot on in my opinion.
What about je lo jelly fish?
Jellyfish dishes are an interesting culinary experience, especially in certain parts of Asia. But I guess you mean stinging in the waters? I didn't see any, but if there are others around, it's always good to ask.
There have been some scary incidents with jelly fish, but they are fairly rare. They mostly seem to come during rainy season. Google it, and you'll find some info.
it sucks that thai airline has monopoly to Koh Samui and it cost $1000 Australian more to Fly business class than using Singapore airline to Phuket.
Oh wow. Good to know!
We have a trip in October and was planning on Phuket. Checking out Koh Samui, but knowing flights are expensive is giving me doubts.
Is it cheap to fly from BKK or Don Meung to Koh Samui?
I just bought a flight from phuket to koh samui for around 3000thb.
@@Unplugged704 instead fly directly to surat thani…samui is 3 hours away from surat thani and its very cheap as well
thanks for sharing that advice
Chaweng To lamai in 10 minutes, you must be flying…
yeah!!! LOL
Where is the national sport Muay Thai? 🤣👌🏼🇹🇭🔥🥊
Muay Thai absolutely deserves a mention when you're in Thailand! Maybe it's time for a special on Thailand's national sport next. Thanks for the reminder! 🥊🇹🇭
@@GregorBrown always welcome! 💪🏼🥊🇹🇭
is it still ok as a tourist to consume weed or is this oppotunity like "dead"`?
Hey there! Yes, all still good, but it's changing quickly! 🌍✈️
@@GregorBrown how quick :D? End of the year from what ive heard
it's not my thing really but Chris explains it well with this interview on his channel:
th-cam.com/video/izHC1c7hm9o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=F7slauNr8od1osOl
Weed will still be legal there basically, but you may have to buy it from someone who has their card in a bigger city than bring it here. Its going to be illegal to smoke it in oublic. Go in those woods along the beach. If you get caught it could mean 3 months jail, or a 500$ fine. If you smoke in the hotel blow it out the window, make a bong, have spray.
