People don't consider Muay Thai an "art" simply because of the wai kru ram muay.... People consider Muay Thai an "art", because of its vast history being used in warfare and sport. It's a "way of life" and right of passage in Thailand. DEEPLY rooted in Thailand's overall history. Not to mention, it is legitimately a martial art, both in traditional and modern senses. That said, the video was very informative and enjoyable.
"Thai boxing is in itself artistic and for this reason cannot be compared in terms of effectiveness or efficiency." Yeah, I remember when we all thought that before Urquidez and Roufus fought Muay Thai fighters....yeah, it's effective especially considering they still couldn't use the head or elbows.

I bought these tapes at a thai market more than 20 years
I seen this and the other parts on the down load sites such as kickass .
one part they do the mei mai forms !!, and the other has various people demonstrating moves.
I found master tongs T.V. show tips & tricks superior .
I was fight tape collector but got very tired of poor color quality.
I gave all the tapes to a fellow collector - associate . who then gave them to steve armstrong vimeo - he now has 400 of my former collection!

Two mistakes in the opening 2 paragraphs. Where did you research your information and how on earth do you make 2 such simple mistakes. It shows you have absolutely no idea what the hell you are talking about? This video is disrespectful of my beloved Muay Thai.
Mistakes....
1.Muay Thai is the art of 8 limbs. Lethwei is the art of 9 limbs and originated in Burma now Myanmar.
2. "Wai kru ram muay is not a "pre fight warm up!!!! It is a dance performed by fighters before a match starts. It is a Thai tradition where fighters show respect to their Muay Thai kru and the relationship between the two.

As a Thai and a MT fan I can explain this for your relieving.
1. Modern era Muay Thai is a modified version of the real one in which 9 limbs are used. Lethwei and original Muay Thai are actually the same thing different schools. Original Muay Thai itself has so many schools. The practitioners of the original still exist today. We call the original "Muay Boran" wherein "Boran" is translated "ancient". Today Muay Boran are practiced and taught from many schools where each has their own style that are slightly different from the others. Meanwhile, the Muay Thai in sports in which headbutt is ceased of use is settled to one ruleset and no school.
2. "Wai Kru" in Muay Thai is a bit different from what it is in the other forms of art. In Muay Thai it has many purposes. Besides being a Thai tradition inheritance, Wai kru also serves as a warming up for the fighters and in Muay Thai it is exhibited as war dance wherein many postures are the intimidating against the opponents due to the fact that Muay Thai was invented around 700-800 years ago for the use in wars. Thai and Myanmar (formerly Burma) are the long time opponents, we had learned form each other and developed our arts together.

so inconpetent ..... !1st of all Muay thai means art of 8 limbs not 9 . Second Wai kru (the warming routine as you wrongly call it) is not warming routine although it has such effect it's a "dance"expressing your respect(wai) for your teacher(kru) also it gives respect to your elders and the budist ways.
Now your're incorrect. Muay thai does not mean the art of 8 limbs, it's simply just mean "thai boxing". Wai Kru is the part where the nak muay is sitting in the ring with his hands together and bowing down, to show respect as you say. The Ram Muay is the part where the nak muay is dancing around the ring to show style, control, stretch, warm-up and again show respect.
Of course the Ram Muay does not warm-up a nak muay a lot, so their primary warm-up is a quick "massage" with a thai liniment oil.
He said that it pays respect to the teachers and parents tho.
