    I have some great memories of this theme. It felt kind of like Indiana Jones in a different time period - I say that as someone with no knowledge of the games or film.
    I have a hard time judging whether this theme should be added to the list of questionable cultural representations in Lego themes. At least this time we can attribute it to the source material!

      I have similar memories; even just the similarity of Dastan and Indy's face prints made my mind connect these themes back in the day.

    Loved this theme as a kid but never got any of the sets. I was able to pick up the ostrich race a few years ago and I still love this theme. Glad someone else remembers it as well.

      Yup, Prince of Persia is one of many themes I really wanted but didn't get until later in life. Sometimes obscure themes are just the coolest!

    I only had 'desert attack' but I loved it and I always wanted to get 'fight for the dagger' the minifigures had such great printing in this theme

      I'd definitely recommend trying to find Fight For The Dagger on the aftermarket!

    Awesome video! I couldn’t care less about the movie but these sets created some of my best LEGO memories. The part where you laid out and spoke about the cool pieces 12:00 really elevated this this video for me. I was fortunate enough to have gotten every set except for the dagger trap and poly bag when they were in production.

    Great sets and great minifigs!

    This theme looks awesome! Almost like a new Adventurers theme, with builds that give me lots of Orient Expedition vibes.
    The addition of studs on the floors and walls to put the minifigures into action parkour poses is a really neat feature that makes this theme stand out.
    And I get what you mean by Lego's more obscure licensed themes having a lot of charm, with Lone Ranger and Speed Racer being two of my favourites.
    Interested to see what themes you'll cover next!

      Yeah I agree, this theme really is underrated! Thanks for the kind comments, I've got lots of content on the way every week!

    The best video I seen ever

    Thank you for this great video! Hope you`ll do many more in the future! Yesterday I bought the Fight for the Dagger and the Battle of Alamut new in sealed boxes. Way overpriced ($64 and $179), but I`ll think they`re both worth it. I plan to combine them with Indiana Jones set for some sort of desert/arabian layout. My eldest kid got the Ostrich Race back in the day so now we/I have the three most important sets from this theme, great! :) ...and combined with the train from Lone Ranger.... 😍

    Great Video. Huge fan of the games and I even have a soft spot for the movie. When I first started collecting I could remember seeing these sets but did not buy at the time. Definitely regret it now.

      Thankfully Prince of Persia is still pretty obscure, so eBay can be a great way of getting the sets at affordable prices!

    This was sick to be honest I don't want it to get popular so I can get the figs and sets for sheep

    I'm suprised that Lego never made any sets based on John Carter, but then again the film didn’t have much Merchandise which played a part in it bombing at the box office. If they did though it would've fit nicely with Prince of Persia and The Lone Ranger as a theme based on a box office bomb that Disney hoped would become the next Pirates of the Caribbean.

    Would love to see you look at the Lone Ranger line of sets. Another forgotten licensed theme from Lego

    • @LuketheDuke424
      @LuketheDuke424  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Lone Ranger is another theme I've considered covering, but right now the aftermarket prices are a bit too much for me to afford.

    Just a suggestion: if value of figures/parts will be a common theme, putting up the new/used average at time of publication might help

      I actually had designed animated graphics for this very purpose, but due to technical difficulties they didn't make the cut. Providing that info will definitely be standard going forward 👍

    I got half of them, apparently: Dagger Trap, Desert Attack, and The Ostrich Race. I enjoyed the movie in middle school, don’t care quite as much about it now. Still one of the better live-action video game movies, though that’s not saying much.

    Even though this theme was based on a movie, it was a missed opportunity to make a Lego game out of it.

    I was so mad, when my mom made me let my 4 year old cousin play with “the Ostrich Race”! Especially since he did exactly what I knew he would, and lose most the entire set!

  • @Pigraider268
    @Pigraider268 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    There is one thing about the theme you didn't get. It's not based on Prince of Persia games it's based on Prince of Persia film very loosely inspired by the games and the film wasn't a commercial hit. It wasn't bad, but it definietely wasn't the Prince of Persia gamers knew and loved. Dastan is completely diferent person with completely diferent history from our Prince.
    Sets are really good, but it's not enough.
    And 2ndly it's not "arabic" architecture it's persian architecture

    • @LuketheDuke424
      @LuketheDuke424  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually I do reference the film multiple times in the video, but it can be easy to miss. :)
      Also, from talking with people who are more educated on Middle Eastern culture than me, I was told that there are many inaccuracies with the depiction of "Persian" culture in the IP and that it more just represents a lot of Arabic stereotypes in general.

    • @Pigraider268
      @Pigraider268 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LuketheDuke424 i guess that makes sense. Arabic architecture was based on Persian. When the Arabs conquered Persia they were just nomads so they adopted architecture, style and even fashion from them.
      Talking about game honestly besides some little easter eggs it's hard to define is it Ancient or Medieval Persia; defining dynasty is almost imposible.
      So I can see Persia in the IP not being really "Persian" :)

    As someone who played the games. And saw the movies.
    I see people who like this tripe as window lickers.
