To be honest. Anything with micha is a win
To score a hatrick on your debut against Arsenal at 17 is incredible. Shearer was some player.
Hence his record is still standing, still can’t believe Kane didn’t stay in the league to beat it. Even if it meant running his contract down and moving on a free next season.
The discussion around the Premier League scoring record is a media construct. Kane’s never mentioned it and clearly prefers the chance to win medals.
@@thomasjames7644It's not even the real record, English football didn't start in 1992, so basing your career on it would be crazy. Jimmy Greaves is the real record holder and never even gets a mention.
To sustain it for his career is the remarkable thing. How many wonder teenagers do we see in England who fail to reach expectations. In the last 40 years, there's been Shearer & Rooney; Giggs. Rashford hasn't really. Owen dropped off. Youth can boost potential, but it takes something special to maintain it.

Shearer's an absolute monster when you think about it. The guy missed 85 games through injury, more than 2 total seasons, and still no-one is anywhere close to breaking his record goal tally. At 0.59 goals per game (crazy) he would've potentially scored another 50 goals, meaning he could've easily hit the 300 goal mark if he hadn't been on that hospital bed. Mental.
Jimmy Greaves beat it. Let's face it, it's not a record that's worth anything. It's associated to the fact the league was renamed. People scored before him, and more.

Even more impressive is if you look at some of his teammates at Newcastle, they were hardly world beaters, some good players but no real superstars creating chances for him.
He's played with the likes of Des Hamilton, Acuna, LuaLua, Daniel Cordone, Paul Dalglish, Bassedas, Viana, Adreas Andersson, Gallacher, Gavilan, Carl Cort, Ameobi, Chopra, Amdy Faye etc... and even then some of the better players he played with for more than a single season like Robert, Speed, Bellamy, Dyer, Jenas, Rob Lee, Solano were good to very good Premier League players but probably not amongst the elite in Europe.
Imagine Shearer getting the service Haaland gets today or even the service Yorke and Cole got at Man Utd or later on Van Nistlerooy etc..

Fully agree with Alan Shearer on the Pep thing. I don't doubt his quality as a manager first off. But I saw that and thought it was harsh, City were winning and we're always going to. This guy smashes in goals for fun. Yes he may wanted to have a word but not like that, Haaland didn't deserve that. It's disrespectful.

During Alans first season at Southampton he played with one of my classmates ( Neil Bartlett ) and after lived round the corner from my best mate who didn't even know he was a footballer when they met 🤣. My mate told me a really funny story about a BBQ at Al's house where he put the Gonk in his place 😂. For me the most exciting season was when he signed for the Toon ( I'm part of the Southern Toon contingent ), proper football hero 👊

Linkers injury storie is toetally mind blowing ,Michael said he's been hit on the head a lot , explaining his punditry skills, never have a bad word now , shearer legend 5th or 6th in the league spot on ! if we break into the top 4 that would be another unbelievable season , Without ffp we would have won the league, eventually when we generation the revenue we will be able to spend 100m on a player , just like klopp has tried before us ,
And when city, united, chelsea and arsenal have all spent over 100m on a single player why bring klopp in to it? Your point is stronger when looking at the volume of teams doing it

I agree with what you're saying about the skills n3ed by the creative players, but as 2 world class strikers you missed the MASSIVE point that defensive midfielders in the modern game are as important. Rather than always create chances, they prevent chances for the opposition. With such fine margins in games now the most important player now is one who can prevent a chance for the opposition and turn that into creating a chance is vital now.
You guys should create a FPL league and invite your listeners to join. Ben Foster has a cycling GK one for example.

Keane ,viera, kante, makele, essien, important players at the heart of the squad but they were also leaders, so can Caceido also fill that role. City brought in Rodri and Phillips for those kinds of roles but paid half what Chelsea did
If everyone is looking for a holding midfielder and there are few available, that's high demand and low supply. Price goes up. Price isn't based on anything else.

It used to be you buy young players on the cheap instead of splashing out on 27 year old established players, now its totally flipped to paying 100 mil for 20 year olds who could turn out usless and spending pennies for players like Kante and Mahrez
I'd prefer Wright over Richards. Lets be honest the only reason Richards "won" the PL and FA Cup was he was at the right place at the right time he was no game changer/baller like Lineker, Shearer and Wrighty.
