I think he plays backup on tape in some of his songs and then plays lead over that. Mindblowing performer. Here: th-cam.com/video/QYXL0OA2K9M/w-d-xo.html

      I'm 62 and raised on rock/prog/metal. I don't get rap and hip hop at all. Not very musical to my ear. More like street poetry with a drum beat attached (rap) and with hip hop I don't hear musicians playing, just programed muzak and voices that have been put through autotune or some other weird effects. I don't like to dance so the "beat" is not important to me.

    “Who is the guitarist?”
    That’s Jimmy Page. God of Rock. Massively influential. Ridiculously creative.
    You write the verse/chorus structure. But leave room for instrument solos which are to be improvised. Like Jazz. Most common are guitar solos. Then keyboards or synths. Rarely you get drum or bass solos.

  • @H0tchips
    @H0tchips 3 ปีที่แล้ว +193

    "How can they write a guitar solo like that" - Good sir, Jimmy Page is arguably the best at it. Almost all Zep tunes have either a guitar intro, solo, and/or outtro (if not all 3). This is "written" by pure feel for the song. It may interest you to know the great influences for Jimmy Page are the old Blues men of the 1920's and 1930's from the deep south of the US. The original black blues men that created such emotion filled songs. Written from deeply emotional lives lived. Led Zeppelin took their early inspiration directly from these legends and turned it into a rock-blues catalogue that is UNMATCHED. You cannot go wrong reacting to Zep. They are truly the GOATs.

    "Immigrant Song" was written during Led Zeppelin's tour of Iceland, Bath and Germany in the summer of 1970. The opening date of this tour took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which inspired Plant to write the lyrics. He explained in an interview:
    "We weren't being pompous ... We did come from the land of the ice and snow. We were guests of the Icelandic Government on a cultural mission. We were invited to play a concert in Reykjavik and the day before we arrived all the civil servants went on strike and the gig was going to be cancelled. The university prepared a concert hall for us and it was phenomenal. The response from the kids was remarkable and we had a great time. 'Immigrant Song' was about that trip and it was the opening track on the album that was intended to be incredibly different."
    Six days after Led Zeppelin's appearance in Reykjavik, the band performed the song for the first time in concert during the Bath Festival.

Regardless of how you feel about it, it's hard as an older generation that produced so many legendary artists in the rock genre and political movement eras. I LOVE to see so many black youth on you tube these days listening to stuff that is admittedly(by themselves) way out of their norm or comfort zone. I watch several reaction videos of music. All are black. I'm honored to share these timeless realms of music with everyone of them. Some they like and some they don't... some even move them and even to tears. I cry everytime they do. "How do you write a guitar solo?" Well, kid, you don't! You just have a guitarist who's talented enough and at the right moment you let him loose and BAM! you have your guitar solo! ;-)

    I was blessed to have been born in a time where music was absolutely fantastic. I can’t listen to today’s music as it has no substance or meaningful lyric’s. The musicians from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were the best. They played the instruments, wrote the deep songs and all could sing without help or auto tune. I am thankful for today’s technology that allows us to connect to TH-cam and rewatch and listen to all of our favourite musician’s. Welcome to the fold Jojo! Thanks for sharing.

    Led Zeppelin is an expanse of music. Blues inspired, classic rock, with unsurpassed vocals. Recommend Babe I'm gonna Leave You, Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir. There are so many more, but if you hear these you may understand classic rock.

    Most artists hear or see their creations in their mind before they give birth to them. Sometimes a long time before they're fine tuned and committed to recording. Other times the songs and music are collaborations conceived and evolved very quickly during a jam session. Some are prompted by something the composer sees, hears or experiences while doing mundane tasks. Inspiration can come from anywhere, just like your own lyrics come to you. Just the magic of the human mind and imagination to create beauty.

    Zeppelin is Rock Gods. They absolutely sealed the mood of music and wrote phenomenal music with the best drummer, guitarist, singer and lyrics of their day and beyond. This song was featured in the movie Thor I believe? If you keep digging into Zeppelin you'll fall deeper in love and have a whole different feeling each song. Other great groups of that day are Pink Floyd, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, so many to choose from. Loved your reaction. Sometimes a guitar solo is just a feeling they get from grooving and it sticks. Jimi Page here is one of the best ever.

    Jimmy Page is the guitarist, and he produced all of their album's, starting in his early 20's. Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band! Saw them in '77.
