I'm really enjoying your France content. It's in my top 3 along with Portugal and Italy. It might even have edged out PT for the #1 spot since the end of the nhr.
A few comments: 1) The Dordogne and the Lot are indeed magnificent regions. 2) Don't buy a property in Sarlat itself or in the immediately surrounding villages, as the property tax is very high. It's better to move a little further away (15 km). I live in Sarlat. 3) Be aware that summers in Carcassonne are very hot, and getting hotter all the time (really painful).
Bonjour! Thank you for sharing! We found that the surrounding area is a perfect place to build and active lifestyle. As for hot, we are from Chicago, so hot is not really in the cards. But many people like the heat. Have a wonderful day!
Second video this morning to come across my feed re: Carcassonne. This is the epicenter of the area I want to retire to when I move over in May-June 2025! Thanks for another wonderful exposé!
@@ItllBeFun i am French and kind of feel betrayed. We have been working so hard for decades to build that reputation we have of being rude and uptight but lately people seem to find us sweet and friendly. What went wrong ? 😂❤️ Just kidding. Welcome to France ! Be happy. Glad you enjoy our lifestyle
Wow! So many magical places in the world. This one sure does not fall short of a wonderful place to retire. The food alone but the villages are amazing. Thanks for sharing this wonder place.
The castles you toured are pretty amazing! One of the castle's room shown in the video here got me thinking of what life must have been like, hundreds of years ago. Really fascinating. Thanks for sharing a close up look of these three places in France. They're beautiful examples of France's history.
There are no shortage of great villages, towns and cities in France, and that is part of the problem, it's overwhelming variety. Add to that the low cost of living, plus the amazing US-France tax treaty, its a no brainer, only where? Hint: France is trains, so if its on a train line you are connected, TGV (fast) or TER (slow), its important as getting a French DL is a nightmare and your US DL is good only for a year after residency. Smaller town like Sarlat have charm, adorability, and community, while big cities like Nice have medical, culture, and airports, but higher cost. Good Luck, a thousand more video might answer the question!😀
Bonjour! We are glad you are here and thanks for sharing. France is a great option for living abroad or a 2nd home. The tax treaty is fantastic for US retirees. We are still worried about inheritance taxes have you discovered a program that allows something less than a 45% tax?
There are places like this in Portugal too. I bought a river property in central. have you guys been to all of the amazing historic places in Portugal in the north and Central?
