This is definitely a complex set of lyrics. It comes out on the Ultraviolet album and one recurring theme is the unseen world that is all around us & affects us. We can't see ultraviolet but it is there. Marko wrote this one a late night drive while wrestling with personal demons. This song made an appearance in the game control. In the game there is a mystic object called the Hotline which is the red phone that Marko sings into during this song. This object allows for a direct line of communication to alternate planes of reality.
Essentially, the song is about the singer calling up his own personal demons and having a conversation with them. The imagery of Thunder/Lightening. The thunder is the sound and lightening something visible. We can't see the Thunder but we accept it. Something creating ripples on the surface of the water before diving under. We can see the effects of it but we can never catch a glimpse of what caused it.
    "Without names we're fantasizing"
Some cultures believed that naming a thing gives it form. Before the name it is just a universal idea. A fantasy. Something is pure spirit until we name it and it becomes manifest. But both aspects of us still exist but we can't see the other.
There is so much to go into on this song but that gives you a rough idea of my interpretation.

I’m so grateful that video games put me on to Poets of the Fall!
This song was written for the game “Control”, so to understand the song you must understand the game.

It isn't actually connected to the game. Poets put one of their new songs in each Remedy game.
The songs they write spesificly for the games are published under the Old Gods of Asgard moniker.

Marko (the singer) wrote basically the whole song one sleepless night and hhe decided to go for a drive instead and in the night there's ...nobody else out here.. :D
This is one of my favourites from the newest album and I dare to say you will not find a Poets of the Fall song you absolutely dislike. They are just SO consistently good.
I am not surprised you couldn't find their albums, they are an indie band so I guess it makes sense to sell "physicals" just on areas where they have certain fans?

You should see that song live... It is mind-blowing! When it comes to the meaning of the lyrics, I cannot give you specifics. It is more a mix of a few things. This is some kind of sequel to the song False Kings, but at the same time, My Dark Disquiet is also referring very much to Remedy Entertainment game Control. FYI, Poets of the Fall has an alter-ego called Old Gods of Asgard and for that particular game, they created the song Take Control. Just for your own fun, you should check it out. So happy you liked this track!

I came accross this song in the game Control and it caught me on the first play through. Not much music does that to me these days. I've spent years trawling the classics for songs which send goosebumps bristling all over and this song does just that. It hints at more than reality shows us, like a veil which hangs over us is slowly lifting. I shall be listening to more from this band.

I like to have the actual physical disks too. Unfortunately I sold my stereos long ago, and I don't have anything to play vinyls with. When we just about all thought vinyls are a dying media. Same thing with movies and computer games: need to have the physical case and disk. Or books, it needs to be a real book.
Of the Poets songs I've heard, I've ranked this second, between Carnival of Rust and False Kings. Really catchy.

This song is less about an actual subject and more about trying to express an uneasiness, a feeling of disquiet when left alone with your thoughts. (As far as I know, think I read that in an interview)
