I'm guessing the massive engine on the front is why this thing is so twitchy, maybe add like 50-100kg to the rear? Also the floating shifter at 24:35 lmao
He should've moved the driver and firewall rearward and made it front-mid engine before shortening the wheelbase. Also, the most he should've shortened the wheelbase to is about 250cm. Given nominal vehicle widths of 180-200cm (not incl mirrors) and tire sizes (660-720mm tall) of today, 250-280cm is the nimbleness/stability sweet spot, and a lot of racing series' seem to be within this range, too, barring LMP and Formula. (Conversions: ~98"-110" wheelbase, ~70"-78" width, ~26"-28" diameter tire.)
This creation of yours reminds me of the Vivace Gambler 500 contest mod, they took and entire vivace and removed everything but the body itself, and built and exo-rollcage, yours looks awesome tho.
Crown Vic’s have ironically become a popular option as a exo kart or “death kart” so I’m glad you chose the grand marshal, and I have a Vic I used to daily and wanna do this🤣
When you shorten/lengthen the wheel base of a car, use nodeMove, not nodeOffset on the suspension, because the wheels already use nodeOffset, and you get conflicts, like the wheels still being on the vanilla place, while the rest of the suspension is moved forwards. Apparently, nodeMove has a higher priority over nodeOffset
@@fillman86 although, nodeMove doesn't work with simmetrical things. For example, for the wheels, nodeOffset mirrors its X value to make the mirrored part. If you want to mode a single thing front to back, or to one side, nodeMove works better, specially if that thing has nodeOffsets inside it.
IMO, it would've been better to move the seats, engine, and firewall BACK first before moving the rear up. Getting that lunk of steel behind the front axle centerline and as close to the rear as possible is key. You don't want to shorten the wheelbase too much, either. Stock wheelbase for a crown vic is 115 inches (292cm), and the best handling cars that are also relatively stable and not TOO long (especially given a nominal ~70-80 inch (180-200cm) width not including mirrors) have ~97 to ~110-inch (250-280cm) wheelbases. Just so you know. If it were a 2 seater I'd work within that range and set the occupants as far back without being between the rear wheels as I could, make that the back wall, then measure roughly 60-65 inches (about 160cm) forward for the firewall, then place the engine right up against it with maybe 2 inches (5cm) of clearance. If I were running an independent suspension car, I'd also use a rear-mounted transaxle with a torque tube like a Corvette instead of a traditional transmission+driveshaft. My recent research has been making me think that a solid axle (with the right 3-link + watts link, or leaf spring setup) is actually underrated as far as handling performance is concerned, so my main priority would still be getting the engine and trans combo (and driver) as close to the rear as reasonable to begin with.
the car you were looking at and not thinking it is based on an actual car is called a Locost. it is a purpose built exocar, built from the ground up as one so there isn't a base chassis from some other car hidden under the cage. you should really check those out, they are really cool with a super friendly community, blueprints are available either for free or for a small fee and then just build to your hearts content

Exocars do come at various degrees I feel, as I think Ariel Atom kinda is one? well... depends on the definition, if it's meant to be made from an existing car or not, I've never fully grasped what they are. But I do feel it could be "easy" to make something unique IRL, if you had one with an engine that could fit a BMW gearbox, for the dual clutch flappy pedal stuff. But it is kinda cool to see how "realistic" they were with the car in BeamNG, it's basically a Crown Vic, which were the last body on frame cars pretty much, up into the 2000s, so they're popular to just toss the body off, and put on a pick-up truck body instead, getting a lower truck with more handling than it would have had originally.
I know there is a pickup truck version of the Covet coming from a video trailer of the mod which is called Covup (for now it is paid since it is not yet released and the payment is just for early acess of the mod,it will be available at either the beamng forums or/and the repository....
