they were not really "flop" in terms of numbers or quality of music, but more so because they're songs are different from the usual "kpop" sound. Plus there have not been a boygroup debut under sm (their company) for a long while and all of sm groups have been so successful so expectations were high. They did prove those who called them flop immediately a year later, when they won a daesang (the grand prize). They were the youngest group to ever won a daesang, only about 2 years after debut. They're unique sound and concept, among with other debuts in 2012 started the 3rd generation of kpop.
Somehow all SM groups have a .. not so good start. But it's because SM always does some crazy concepts with their groups. EXO superpower concept, and them promoting in chinese too... NCT unlimited members and subunit concept... aespa.. artificial intelligence... as the guide said EXO received so much love and gained popularity when Growl came out please check it out. But even before they were already big but let me just put it like this.. they were controversial topic and when something is controversial you know it's good 🔥 🔥 🔥 and just so you know the individual guides contains some spoilers so I suggest at least checking their solo music and stuff first. but only react to individual guide if you are really interested in the members personalities because that's what they focus on

I hope you will react to Chen solo songs just like you reacted to Bambi by Baekhyun. His solo songs are " Beautiful Goodbye" and "Hello". Hello was his last song released on October, 2020 before he enlisted into military. Chen has sung many OSTs for some of the most popular Kdramas of all the time. The amount of control this man has on his voice is ridiculous. He has one of the best head voices I have ever heard. And I do consider Chen as one of the top 3 male vocalist currently present in K-pop. I do not stan Exo. I am an Army but I do stream and listen to their most of their songs. And I love holy trio of vocals of Chen + D.O. + Baekhyun. But my heart aches seeing how freaking underated and underappreciated Chen is by the fans considering his vocal talent.
I really don't understand why people make it seem like they were such huge flops. They really weren't. I think they just weren't on the radar of the general public until growl came out which understandably took longer than past SM groups. I do understand where people might think they were considered flops since their success failed in comparison to the HUGE successes of their seniors. Nonetheless, by the standards of other companies and groups, they were not flops. Haters will say this is because they were an SM group but it's because they were TALENTED. This was SM's first boy group in 4 years and the first new overall group after 3 years. The concept also wasn't that weird and their music largely followed a lot of early 2000's kpop which makes sense since you young jin is the true legend that made SM what it is. However, this was the time more and more groups were being formed and despite being an sm group they were lost in the sea of so many other idols debuting at the time. Especially now, the general public don't know idols as they used to because there are literally too many of them and since idols don't do variety shows as much anymore. You'll see that the individual idols the general public recognize are those that go on variety shows...sure they probably know a lot of group names but don't They also were definitely not the first to be called "flops." Every group received a bit of backlash when they didn't do as well as their predecessors. For example, super junior were called the rejects of tvxq.
Fyi, Chanyeol and Baekhyun are currently serving in the military, but Chanyeol was enlisted first on March 29th and Baekhyun was on May 6th, Yup Baekhyun enlisted on his birthday :))...Ah yes, Suho and Chen are also serving in the military, but they will go first, Suho and Chen in 2020,for xiumin and d.o. he has already completed his military service ^^,We just have to wait for Sehun and Kai to enlist hahaha I can't wait...and also every member before leaving for military service they have a tradition that is a photo of holding their bald head sorry if I said the wrong word, if there is something missing you can add it😉 (+)um, for d.o. and xiumin they were conscripted into the military in 2019. first xiumin who enlisted in the month of May 7, and continued to d.o. he was in the military in the month of eumm maybe june? or july idk it's been a long time since i forgot╥﹏╥, xiumin finished the military last year in december and kyungsoo finished in january

Ya I used to watch some of his movies and when I first got into kpop through exo and saw him there I was like wait I knw him. Same case with tao, I had already watched one of his dramas and was quite surprised to see them in exo. they were not really "flop" in terms of numbers or quality of music, but more so because they're songs are different from the usual "kpop" sound. Plus there have not been a boygroup debut under sm (their company) for a long while and all of sm groups have been so successful so expectations were high.
They did prove those who called them flop immediately a year later, when they won a daesang (the grand prize). They were the youngest group to ever won a daesang, only about 2 years after debut.
They're unique sound and concept, among with other debuts in 2012 started the 3rd generation of kpop.
Somehow all SM groups have a .. not so good start. But it's because SM always does some crazy concepts with their groups. EXO superpower concept, and them promoting in chinese too...

I hope you will react to Chen solo songs just like you reacted to Bambi by Baekhyun. His solo songs are " Beautiful Goodbye" and "Hello". Hello was his last song released on October, 2020 before he enlisted into military. Chen has sung many OSTs for some of the most popular Kdramas of all the time. The amount of control this man has on his voice is ridiculous. He has one of the best head voices I have ever heard. And I do consider Chen as one of the top 3 male vocalist currently present in K-pop. I do not stan Exo. I am an Army but I do stream and listen to their most of their songs. And I love holy trio of vocals of Chen + D.O. + Baekhyun. But my heart aches seeing how freaking underated and underappreciated Chen is by the fans considering his vocal talent.

I really don't understand why people make it seem like they were such huge flops. They really weren't. I think they just weren't on the radar of the general public until growl came out which understandably took longer than past SM groups. I do understand where people might think they were considered flops since their success failed in comparison to the HUGE successes of their seniors. Nonetheless, by the standards of other companies and groups, they were not flops. Haters will say this is because they were an SM group but it's because they were TALENTED. This was SM's first boy group in 4 years and the first new overall group after 3 years. The concept also wasn't that weird and their music largely followed a lot of early 2000's kpop which makes sense since you young jin is the true legend that made SM what it is. However, this was the time more and more groups were being formed and despite being an sm group they were lost in the sea of so many other idols debuting at the time. Especially now, the general public don't know idols as they used to because there are literally too many of them and since idols don't do variety shows as much anymore. You'll see that the individual idols the general public recognize are those that go on variety shows...sure they probably know a lot of group names but don't They also were definitely not the first to be called "flops." Every group received a bit of backlash when they didn't do as well as their predecessors. For example, super junior were called the rejects of tvxq.

Fyi, Chanyeol and Baekhyun are currently serving in the military, but Chanyeol was enlisted first on March 29th and Baekhyun was on May 6th, Yup Baekhyun enlisted on his birthday :))...Ah yes, Suho and Chen are also serving in the military, but they will go first, Suho and Chen in 2020,for xiumin and d.o. he has already completed his military service ^^,We just have to wait for Sehun and Kai to enlist hahaha I can't wait...and also every member before leaving for military service they have a tradition that is a photo of holding their bald head

Ya I used to watch some of his movies and when I first got into kpop through exo and saw him there I was like wait I knw him. Same case with tao, I had already watched one of his dramas and was quite surprised to see them in exo. Bt then the sad reality that they left the grp hit me

They got the heights wrong Lol. Kai is 6’0, Sehun is like 6’1 and Chanyeol is like 6’2 or 6’3. They’re the tallest members but ppl used to call them flops mainly fandoms in SM company because they hated the attention EXO was getting at the time and Hated the idea of another boy grp under SM besides TVXQ, SUJU, SHINee and even BB fandom.
