I was re-watching this and lol'd at Szalami in the chat. When MarineLord and Anotand were talking about how they couldn't stop puppypaw on the sacred site Szalami was chastising them for it, saying "I barely held myself vs puppy's firelancers and that baboon Ourk, why can't you guys go for the site?!" LMAO. I love Szalami.
i havent even seen the video yet, i just see 32 min video, Szalami and "wololo" thumbnail and think "ah sh... here we go again"

@@SergioPolimante he’s just not doing great. Which is wild, he’s absolutely the best player, he just keeps getting shitty situations, game 4 had a triple non aggression pact south of him while anotand is just popping off. Game 4 was mega weird

one map in octagon 3 should be 4 islands divided by water so that we can see naval strategies in play.
Moral of this match: Death by Greed. (Beasty being to greedy trying to KO wam only to loose all his effort to marinelord) Don, being to greedy in the early game for not wanting to risk having to fight marinellord early. but got royally screw by unlucky migration. But definitely 100 in the diplomacy game and could have become a threat if Puppy wouldn't have found Don's little corner.
Ourk being greedy bringing all his units inside rams to try take the keeps and secure a quick kill only to get trapped and wololo'd to death.
Marinelord being to greedy in trying to secure kill from anotand not realising the sacredsite timer before it was way to late.
The stat of king need to change, right now it make calvary the only option to snipe, at least in earlier stage
puppy and Wam are 100% on private comms. Never have them on a tourney together again please. Not the first time one has crossed the map to protect the other

Beasty was robbed. It wasn't "that one piece of wall" it was the ridiculous king stats. Also puppypaw super sus crossing entire map ignoring red and purple just to avenge his brother.

@@BlumenkohlBroccoli1 I guess he was prioritizing his wood for rams and army so he felt it wasn't necessary to build the final long wall segment but that turned out wrong.
the ranged armor on the king in dark and feudal is unnecessary I think
true, imagine trying to all-in in Feudal for 3 points and the king moves almost like a horseman and is unkillable by archers. I feel like everything except cavalry just doesn't work in feudal to kill the king
yeah, the only way to get feudal kills is with either a much better spawn or a age2 knight civ. beasty had him surrounded, but the king just tanked like 200+ arrows

28:37 the moment ML turned around is the moment I stopped eating popcorn. We want a fight! We want shenanigans! Players gaming the tournie meta this round was a entertainment let down - it felt like only the right and top side of the map played the game and then got punished for it.
ML decision to turn back was reasonable given the force guarding it which would have annihilated his force. At the point, all the players needed to attack the site ala Szalami clutch hold. The puppy had been left in occupation of the Sacred site too long. On reflection, this is perhaps an unintended consequence of the format. We defending your king is all or nothing and king snipes most likely in late feudal or early castles most players tend to turtle, attack their neighbour or try to snipe a king with cav instead of invest in a slow siege or worrying about sacred sites. It just so happened that it was taken during a moment where everyone was locked in conflict or anxiously trying to stay alive. One other thing to note is that Puppy was playing op china and any other civ would have struggled to fortify so quickly or effectively.

OB1 was much more fun and entertaining (until the last 3 games) thank OB2. Like Salami’s sacred win was top tier for sure, but it doesn’t feel like the players are having fun. This series has shown me that Nomad and Regicide don’t belong together. To easy to king snip. And with sniping being the general theme, the soul of Nomad FFA is being washed away more obviously than the last 3 games of OB1. Drongo is more concerned about constant combat, and less about the natural story and progression that 8 players experience battling each other for 1st in normal Nomad FFA (preferably Maga Random). Still the best AOE4 content on TH-cam though! 🤷🏽

this was just the best moove to do. puppy was already age III since many mins and beasty still age II. It was obvious that beasty was weak, especially because ML got the kill of Wam. It mean that beasty must lost his army, and with his king in the TC he had no chance to survive to the attack. I would have done the same instead of puppy

Yeah I’m going to be honest, after watching the game it actually seems intentional from those 2. They knew the sacred site was being taken, knew that szalami was pretty hurt on military, and decided to not attack the site together. And then when it was too late, Szalami seemed to be the only one that was actually upset, because the other 2 just completely let him have the game. I’m a newbie so my opinion doesn’t mean much, but from an outsiders perspective, I probably would have investigated them for wintrading a tournament.
Great content but never let this map come back into rotation, make an Islands map those games are always insane

Idk. I feel this set up makes players chances so influenced by luck. Some structure wouldn't necessarily be bad, such as just having everyone spawn equally away from each other. And then they still have the ability to go and build their tc next to someone if they want. But look, first three players out were in the north all together.

The games in the finals were all great, only this one gave me pause. Szalami did the same thing to his opponents just the day before, yet nobody reacted here. They handed this game over to puppypaw along with way too many points considering how the scoring worked.

Ourk calls puppy to get his king, is that allowed? By far for me this is the worst game of the series, they literally gave the game to puppy. Now no fun in watching next game since this one pretty much decided who is the winner. Congrats Puppy.

i think the rules for teaming need to be tweaked, or players are just greedy with kills. tbh in FFA you always need to contest sacred as soon as you see another player activate it
i think this kings should've been weaker on lower ages. start with lower hp and it peaks at imperial. its really dumb how age 2 king could tank 30-40 guys shooting it and survive
Agreed. Ranged armor is a punishment to anyone unfortunate enough to get English. Beasty got robbed for how much he invested.
That king was being consistently fired on for over a minute thirty by some 12 longbows and 20 some villagers at times. It is insanity that he can just walk through all that.

Theres gota be more people out there who would love to watch this. Great content from drongo, i maybe a bit biased as ive been a dedicated aoe fan since 2001 in hs. But i truly feel if this was posted on a front page somewhere and got a lot of fresh eyes on it the views as well as subs would at min triple....imo that is. Just plain old good entertainment.

Even the best player in the WORLD (MarineLord) left untouched the entire game (!), doesn’t make a single Ottoman Bombard. Not a SINGLE one. Even in a 8-player octagon it’s useless!!! He only makes Trebs and Springals instead. 😂
AoE4 could be a fun game if the Ottoman Bombard was not this useless joke, because this unit introduces a whole different battlefield dynamic, making tactics more diversified, fun and surprising. Ottoman Bombard DESPERATELY needs at least +2 range and a lot more base attack. For a YEAR now, the community has been pointing out this obvious fact.
It’s starting to get bizarre by now. Relic advertised a real revolution for AoE4 on the Malians and Ottomans trailer with the Ottoman Bombard and Malian stealth, we feel cheated and betrayed.
do you realize that the ottomans can access that bombard for free? it doesnt need buffed. its just slow and costs 1500 resources

This game was by far the worst one idk why don ran away and nobody ever challenges ML in early game and beasty got screwed over every game so far and nobody focuses on the scared site. Lame game. But good for puppy he went nuts

Kind of weird to let the game fall short without any real attempt, by the time they started going for the site they already knew it was too late, at least Szalami could b credited with some deception in the chat to buy him some time, but idk wat here other than putting pressure on the guys to the south, but that left the center wide open for business for anybody else, but literally no one came... Not a soul... Seems very odd in such a high level tournament to see the ball dropped like this for sure...

I would b open to something at play that explains the situation better, but as of right now yeah, it's just the knight pressure, and that just doesn't seem like enough to run the board like we saw, it really looks like we just watched the best players in the world all dropping the collective ball...

You need to pop your own king out of a building and then spend res to trigger the kings ability to see where all kings are on the map, it doesn't last too long though

It's just punishing poor map awareness really hard. Any player at this level should just split off 2-3 knights every time the site gets past 8 minutes and flip it neutral.

well, people are imperfect, so are the rules of this tournament. So very opportunistic, not rewarding systematic buildup of an advantage. I hope next outback octagon is better.
