Ram Turbo interface has Protek (cursor keys) support too. To activate Protek support, insert joystick into port 1 (left side) and hold joystick button down while turning on machine. It's great to have 3 control standards on the one interface.
Love the arcade shoot out features ! Been eagerly waiting for Centipede for a long while, great job as always. I can remember Nightmare Rally coming on a cover tape with Chase HQ demo, but I could never get the damn thing to load. Doesn't look like I missed much looks a barren Buggy Boy clone. The car looks closer to an old Escort than the car on the loading screen.
Great show Paul, loved it. 1983 was certainly a good year if you were a Centipede fan sooooo many conversions came out that year, in their haste they even released the same game twice more than once LOL, guess you consumer rights were an afterthought in the early 80s ;). Best name definitely goes to Squirmy Wormy ! :).
Paul Jenkinson It's surprising it exists at all, I thought by 1986 Ocean had moved on to movie licenses and arcade ports. Makes you wonder if it was originally one of the two.
Millimon by Artic Computing is a great game! Really playable, high action, great sound. I use a control pad which makes the controls much better. I'd been waiting ages for you to tell everyone how good it is! When you get to about 5000 points the snail and the flea pop up. My best is 30,000 but the score board goes much higher!. There are a few no-go positions and also a couple of safe spots where you cant be killed. Some places really let you munch on that caterpillar too. I thought it would have got a good review. Great show, Paul!
Although I never owned any ROM cartridges, I did have a RAM Turbo, specifically for the two joystick ports. I thought it was a great interface. I agree it would have benefitted from a power switch. Great episode as always Paul :)
The collapsing floors were brought back in the Jet Set Willy 64 engine. Games made with it are are listed near the bottom of this page: www.jswcentral.org/
Just to be clear the RAM Turbo does NOT detect Kempson. There is no Kempston to detect, there are no “kempston” joysticks, only interfaces. The way it works is that it responds to BOTH a key lookup (Sinclair) AND an In(31) command. That way it simultaneously supports two joystick interfaces at once. (It supports Protek too but I think not simultaneously). The only problem I have with my RAM Turbo is with some games which allow you to select your joystick and says “press fire to start”. Sometimes the game detects the fire from the other interface standard and you end up not being able to control your player. I have a modern kempston interface from Ben which I prefer now, and it’s a LOT smaller.
To do a proper comparison, it would be unfair to miss out games just because there are too many. Although it is the reason why I have been putting off the Pacman shootout :-/
This show is great - it's like having one of the good old magazines in your TH-cam! :D
Just what I was aiming for. Thanks.
Making 54 episodes of this show for a meager 2000 views a piece shows a great deal of dedication. Nice job guys. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Thanks for watching.
Coming up to 7,000 views now!

@38:47 "and this month's 16k game is centipede" haha : )
Watching the Centipede shoot-out, I kept yelling, 'What about Spectipede?'! By far the best version.
Glad it wasn't just me then.
Another great episode, Paul. I always enjoy watching The Spectrum Show - keep up the good work!
Thanks. I'll try..
Awesome show! :D
Brilliant episode Paul thanks once again!
Hooray! I always look forward to every episode.

Yeah.. you didn't miss much at all.
Ah!! the good old day's, 42 minutes to relax and enjoy.
for you maybe.. i'm onto the next episode :-/
Thanks paul, it's much appreciated as always :-)
Wow, i don´t know all list like "Centipede" games. Amazing!
Night Skalter i knew it, for me, is the best.
Well done!
Namaste.
not to mention all the type-in version.. which I left out because I didn't want to go completely mad (and the shootouts only include commercial games)

Nightmare Rally, could it have been a Buggy Boy clone?
Not as much fun to play, and lack of real course, makes it a poor clone if it is.

That was a lot of Centipede clones! Another great episode - some nice picks in the old & new games reviews too.
Yes.. a lot.. now.. onto the Pacman shootout.. err.. not for a while..
Best thing ever about Nightmare Rally. Was running into the black monolith’s.
Best thing was not having to play it again after I'd done the review :-)
WHAT..
Great show as always Paul :). I really liked Cyber Rats as a kid although playing it now I'm not sure why.

Great episode. How many centipede game ? never knew it was so popular.
Don't I just know it!!! Far too many... my head hurts!!
Great episode! Willy Vektor Edition was really interesting.
Glad you liked it
I LOVE YOUR SPECTRUM SHOW ! moooooreeeee
Although I never owned any ROM cartridges, I did have a RAM Turbo, specifically for the two joystick ports. I thought it was a great interface. I agree it would have benefitted from a power switch.
Great episode as always Paul :)
Cheers
I still use a ram turbo with my divide hanging of the back :)
Me too :)

at last!!!! thanks for this new episode ;)
Thanks for watching.
I loved Spectipede as it was the only version I really knew about...but was it not released by Mastertronic?
you deserve more subs great show well put together

Great show Paul! Could you make it last at least 1 hour?
Really? It takes me ages to get the 30 minutes shows out, so it would have to be one show every two months!
Ja ja ja right, I was just dreaming about; but . . . maybe with a new colaborator :D
This is the Centipede clone I remember best from the mid 1980s for the ZX Spectrum th-cam.com/video/5RvQL3xzEiI/w-d-xo.html
That centipede segment was waaay too long. Great episode otherwise.
Have to disagree on that, I really enjoy the arcade shoot out features. It's interesting to see how various companies tried to bring the arcade home.
