    Back in the day we use to run Our seat clamps low so the seat tube wouldn't crack .

      Or stack them up have an mx folding one at the bottom and a tange one at the top .

    You seem to know your stuff. Any chance you can sell me, or steer me to find a 20" rear wheel that will take both a cassette and a disk break rotor? It is for a project I am building, not for a bike frame.

    I'm fat, and don't wanna overtighten and break my built on clamp... could I add a 25.4mm clamp onto the post to help keep it from sliding down as a ride and sit on the seat...?
    Riding the bike helps with the being fat part.... can't wait for spring....

    Phu was a professor in his past life the way he explains things and helps the listener follow and understand and emphasizes things make learning so easy it takes a certain kind of person to be able to do that he’s educated me more than any teacher I’ve ever had

    a crazy fact you didnt know about bmx frames...... they used to have the same seat tube diameter as your bars, we went up cause seat posts werent strong enough..... #BarsShouldGoOversized
    they used to need press in cups for the headset and bb. they used to have these weird lugs on them for these hand devices called brakes. they used to have this one with a giant built in bash guard.

    I had a fit trl that i never moved the seatpost on and bout a year later after rideing dirt and useing it as a daily rider i needed to move the seat the allen head sheared off coz of that i carry a spare seat clamp in my bag lol

    Back in the 70s i had to save for weeks to buy a shim for my frame so i could fit a lay back seat post to my Raleigh Burner for bar spins.

      I had the same problem i made a shim from cans then bout amonth later i found a stinger styler layback post on an old bike it was a layback post but a burner size .

    Just put in an order for a 2019 GT Pro Performer 26'' which comes with a 22 top tube. The stock post is a laid back Dayglo Pink. Would like to change it out to a modern pivotal setup or a standard road bike aluminum alloy rig with rail clips. Aftermarket laidback 22 posts are hard to come by where I am from (Thailand)

    I'm not lost. But I was also a bike mechanic for years and I was fixing my own flats when i was 8 years old. My Grandpa taught me how to use a patch kit and somehow I remembered and started doing it my self. Though being a 8 year old it was really hard for me to tighten the back tire on the chain side and the axle would always slip and the tire would rub. By the time I was 10 years old I was strong enough to tighten it down.

    Exactly Alfredo, he went way to in depth with seat posts. Lol. Just this fits with this, this fits with that, done. Also I’m surprised he didn’t mention the imperial measurements. 22.2mm =7/8”, 25.4mm =1”, 26.8mm =1-1/8”.

    but when that welded seat clamp broke off and you put another seatclamp, it would not fit because the seat tube where the new seat clamp that will be put is too short just like here 12:40

    The majority of mtb riders out there (at least those being serious) do have dropper post and thus don't need a QR seat clamp.
