Wow, I can’t believe how being stuck in the house has opened my eyes to so much of California I haven’t experienced! Thank you Jay, this was another great video about another beautiful area around San Diego!!!!♥️👍🏻♥️ can’t wait for your next one!
Thanks for this! I grew up in Poway (PHS class of 1997) and my folks still live there. The trails around Lake Poway are great but once you get away from the flatter parts they can get really challenging really quickly. The trailhead at Blue Sky Ranch (very close to Lake Poway) leads to some really beautiful riparian and chaparral areas. Be careful for ticks, especially if you bring your dogs. There is a lot of debate about the best taco shops in Poway and everyone has their own favorites. Tony Gwynn was a great guy and was so supportive to the community. The Blink 182 guys went to Poway High and were seniors when I was a freshman. I remember seeing a poster for a concert of theirs to play at our little theater and thinking "they won't make it" - but what do I know? The Poway Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings are great. Poway is a quiet suburb, and it came into existence in the 1970s so that the County of San Diego would be blocked from putting a giant freeway (the 94 Freeway, I think) through the community. It's a little off the beaten path but was a great place to grow up. Now I live in a big city (a giant behemoth of a city 100 miles north of Poway that belches smog - you can guess) but Poway always has a special place in my heart.
i grew up in poway, but i live in nyc now. this video was super cool and crazy to watch. thanks for showing my home town in a new perspective. im inspired to revisit all of these spots with fresh eyes next time i go back :-)
I HAD A JOB IN POWAY BEFORE GAS PRICES WENT UP. I WENT TO TACO TACO EVERY FRIDAY AFTER WORK. AND SHOPPED AT THE WALLMART ASWELL. I LOVE MY POWAY FAMILY!!!! I NEED TO VIST AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE!!!
Poway, California is a great place to live and visit! Our favorite place to shop is at Costco and also Walmart, Walter Andersen's. Smokin J's BBQ is so delicious! Awesome video Jaycation!
I made a trip to San Diego back in April, staying in El Cajon. After seeing this video, I had to make a trip to Lake Poway. Google maps took me up the 67 to get there and boy was that a scary drive for someone who's scared of heights! Once I got to the lake, I saw how beautiful and peaceful it was! I live in the Twin Cities of Minnesota so lakes are nothing new to me. However, holy wow to this place! I also visited Old Poway Village. What a quaint little spot! Thanks so much for this video, and for giving me a new place to explore!
I was born in Poway,CA but grew up in Oklahoma. Have always wanted to visit the place I came from so thank u for this vid! First time getting to see where I came from.
Thanks for sharing! Brings back the memories... I used to live there in Poway and it is a very nice place to live in! But it is so hot during summer compared with other parts of San Diego!
I did google maps of the Poway area and Holy S##@ that place is huge! So many of the streets that were not there even when I visited last. I could give you the rough boundaries of streets and roads. Lots of the open fields are occupied and that train park was only in the beginning dream stage way back in the 70's.
Love Bobby Lee! I totally blanked on Blink 182 while filming... I even used to go to local concerts! But you are right they are Poway High grads... I think Tom and Mark are!
What a beautiful lake!! I love the mountains behind the lake!! Wow, that potato chip rock .. that would be so fun!! I’d probably go the back way and just do a two mile hike as well, lol. The Poway village would be so fun to explore! I bet that potato salad was yummy! This video was so informative and well edited!!
It really is! Potato Chip Rock is definitely worth a visit. The short way is the only way IMO lol. I love the old west feel of poway village as well, the train tracks are a great picture op. Thanks for watching and see you around here and clubhouse!
Great video. I lived in Poway this year for 3 months almost. I wish I could have gone to the potato chip rock and hop stop. Now I'm in Albania. I don't think I am going to go back to usa for a while
@@Jaycation it's great over here. You would like it for sure. Great food, beaches, mountains and it's super affordable. South east asia prices basically.

I'm happy you can discover parts of California from your own home! More to come, i just have to film them haha
It's really no shock that Southern California has bred so many baseball players, with the warm weather all year.
So many great baseballers in SD! Padres just acquired Musgrove from the pirates and he's actually from SD!
THANK YOU, SAN DIEGO PADRES!!!
Poway is such a hidden gem in San Diego! Not many people hear about it. Awesome that you did a spotlight for everyone! Keep em up
It really is! It's a huge area of the county as well. Nice neighborhood.
Omg yes!! I’m from poway born and raise and when ppl ask me where I’m from I’ll say poway .. and they be like what?! And I’m just like “ I’m from SD”

Loved Smokin Js! Is tooth rock the same hike as potato chip rock?
I love your little memories with each video! ☀️
Thanks Lindsey! i like to put in a personal touch to connect with each place. Feels more meaningful!

It spans out so far! Poway is great, you will definitely not recognize it next time u visit.
Bobby Lee is hilarious! Am I right in thinking that the band blink-182 is from Poway originally?
Love Bobby Lee! I totally blanked on Blink 182 while filming... I even used to go to local concerts! But you are right they are Poway High grads... I think Tom and Mark are!
Yup
Also unwritten law
Unwritten Law is from Poway
I took on the potato chip yesterday from the 67 my Woodson trail. Hard hike but amazing. Thank you for this video
That access road incline is no joke! But way shorter than the Lake Poway route... glad u did it!
Bobby Lee is from Poway. Learned something new haha.
haha he never stops talking about how he's not in the poway high hall of fame LOL

Is Poway opened during the Big Bay Boom!?
I don't think I'd recognize the town now. Been too long since I've been through there. Used to live there in the 70's.
It would be a brand new place for you with a few old reminders of what it used to be like the train park!
John Purdue I lived in Poway in the late 70s
Great video!!!! I was born and raised in Poway.
Thanks Eddie! Means alot that people from Poway like the video. It's important that i present the area in the right way.
You should do a video on the bike trailer and hiking trailer .

Nice! Do u remember if Chuys was good?
@@Jaycation Yeah it was pretty good, dunno why it changed to taco taco. At least it was replaced by an establishment with equally delicious food.
What camera do you use to film? Looks like a quiet area this poway
I used the DJI Osmo Pocket for this particular video. Poway is definitely on the quieter side and its a good thing!

Is Poway affordable to live? Also is it very easy to find parking with spacious streets?
Na, it is anything but affordable, house prices don't fall under 900k
We didn't have Wal Mart when we lived there. It was the 70s.
Poway is so spread out though! The shopping centers are so spread out
It's such a huge area!
Poway resident here, honestly the lake and old poway park are the only things to do in poway 😂😂
haha! nice spots though but i can see why you'd want to venture out to other parts of SD.
Does the Potato Chip Rock ever break when a 200+ lbs person were to stand on it?
no people take group pictures of 8+ adults and it doesnt break
More Poway alum, besides the ones listed below....Stephanie Seymour, Ray Plantier, Jud Buechler.
We did grocery shopping at Vons!
closed is now an Aldis and harbor freight
Jay,
How log have you lived in San Diego?
Hi Sue, Born and Raised in San Diego! Only moved away for 2 years when i was in barcelona
