    Just to think we us those born in the mid 80s.need to thank people like you that capture the sounds of our youth . because trains like these and we didn't know it...!!. will never be made like it.. whether you loved or hated them

      Agreed! These new "Aventra", "Hitachi" and whatnot trains, with the godawful whiny AC inverter motors sound nothing classy or characteristic anymore. What I'd give to have a modern train, still make that loud "URRRRRR" as it pulls out of a station. Thankfully we still have some classic BREL units around, (319, 455 etc), albeit in very small quantities.

    I saw 317343 yesterday, watched this video before and I heard it and you're right, it's incredibly loud! Just a shame I didn't get on it to be honest... it was on the Meridian Water Shuttle yesterday with 317511

    Great video there my friend. Not sure if you have been on 319012 before it got its wings. That one was insane for loud traction motors but I love them! I hope that one can be preserved even if at the East Kent Railway as a Class 769.

    I was on this exact train in 2014 as a kid but in the national express livery and my goodness 😍😍😍 i felt the power of it instantly it sounded angry 😳🦁🔥💯, top best sounding trains in the UK 🇬🇧:
    1.) Class 319
    2.) Class 317
    3.) Class 455
    4.) Class 456

      Me too, never thought time would go so quickly that they'd be in their last months/year of operating...I remembered reading in 2012 that they had ages left and now it's come round so fast

    The unit you rode was destroyed but they’re are still 50 surviving class 317 units fun fact 5 ex Scottrail class 317 are in survive on rail track Southern zone which were purchased by rail track southern zone in 2019 and still panted in scottrail livery.

    They are clapped out; and you are sitting right under the pantograph, over the electric drive bogies. It is a painted up pile of junk!!

    • @HooverA3060
      @HooverA3060  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah I like them and tbh prefer them to the godawful FLIRT trains that are on this line. I've seen absolute chaos caused by their single-door carriage 12-car layout, especially on Stansted Express. And tbh I don't ever see trains of today lasting as long as these. Especially with nowadays how designs are cut because of saving money, ironing board thin seats that you can barely withstand a seat for more than 10 minutes in.
      Thameslink/SWR 700-series are a pure example of this

      @@HooverA3060 We had the 314 in Scotland. They ran from the late 70's until fairly recently. They were solid and reliable, but they got ran into the ground as well. The power car was always the noisest part of the train and they were also 5 across. They replaced many of the old clapped out 303 EMU trains which had been running since the 50's and were the first electric trains in Scotland. Just about all of the rest of the 303 fleet got scrapped in 1999 but a couple of sets remained.
