Ricky, thank you again for an amazing and very informative video! I am excited to start planning a trip with Etihad! Looking forward to more information on the AP program too.
Watch out for married segment control. If searching A-B and B-C separately, the flight would be available. However, once A-B is added to the itinerary and the agent then searches for B-C, availability for B-C is suddenly zeroed out. This is something that the operating airline controls. On certain dates, they may decide to make A-B-C available while on other days, they would only allow either A-B or B-C.
I liked the rickety old search engine. Now they’ve “improved” it under new ownership and hiked the points based on market conditions. They should have left that bit alone. One of the best things about Aeroplan was you could book a flight at the last minute without any penalty.
I'll be booking in the next day or two! YYC-JFK, then JFK-AUH-SYD, then SYD-HKT, then HKT-HKG-YVR-YYC. I'm thinking early January. I Can't wait to check out those A380 apartments! I've had some first class wins over the years, but Etihad has always seemed out of reach. This is amazing news!
Yes! I want to book a flight from Chicago-Delhi through aéroplan and I was so surprised to see a flight through etihad. Unfortunately I don’t have any time to travel in the foreseeable future...
I’d be shocked if the mileage requirements don’t go up. I used my miles for business class to Asia next year. I’m hoping I’ll actually get to travel. I think I am going to travel based on price after that.
Ricky could you answer a question for me please? I don’t understand the basic economy versus standard economy with Air Canada. I checked and it’s $170 for me to upgrade to it, But I really don’t understand what the benefits would be to pay extra $170
Question about something you haven’t talk about if i want to book for february 2021 but in not sure about the covid situation what are the cancellation policies? Thanks
Thats great news, Etihad and aeroplan finally, Great for a lot of families that tend to go to Asia and South Asia, now we just need a credit card that has a good aeroplan sign up bonus :)
Yes, the routes to the Indian Subcontinent will prove very popular I'm sure. These days the signup bonuses are a little bit down, but I'm sure it won't be long until they're back!
The addition of Etihad Airways to Aeroplan is exciting. Probably one of the easiest ways to book a trip to the Maldives! Hopefully Aeroplan will not devalue their program too much from their current award chart.
@@PrinceofTravel with ANA also removing YQ, I'm also planning an mRTW involving JFK-AUH-MLE-AUH-ICN-NRT-JFK in F. That would require a lot of miles so I gotta maximize this opportunity of not travelling to be able to make this trip a reality!
Thank you so much for the video Ricky. Question for you: I have 830K AMEX points from my platinum business card and I'm expecting to get another 1.7M point by the end of this year. I know I can transfer 1:1 to aeroplan point. I'm planning a trip for Jan 2020 from JFK-AUH-SIN and I know they have the Residence on these flights. Do you know if I can book the Residence with aeroplan point or just the apartment?
The Residence is gone, unfortunately. They've retired the Airbus A380 due to the pandemic. Even before, though, you couldn't book the Residence with points, only with cash ($22,000+ one-way).
Maybe I'm jaded but even a really really nice flying bus experience is still... a flying bus. Shower or no, it's a flying tube designed to haul ones buttocks from A to B. Though I have been told my stench post 8 hour flight is a biological shock weapon so perhaps its better for other human beings I partake in that particular indulgence

It's my pleasure 🙏🏼
Exciting news Ricky. I agree that things aren't going to get much better than they are right now. Keep up the great work and excellent videos.

Nice video Ricky, looking forward to pull the trigger in the near feature. BTW aeroplan website is down for more than 24 hours XD
Do Canadian say "Route"? lol! Great video Ricky as always!
Haha, do we?!
@@PrinceofTravel I've seen more Canadian pronounce it with "Raw" rather than 'Roo" (the same also true for bank routing number) :)

I still can't believe my eyes when I see Etihad on the search engine!
Oh my God! You are the Canadian version of Sebby from AskSebby!
You aren't the first to say that 😸

Oh man, I'm lucky to live in NY. I gotta collect aeroplan miles soon once I collect the rest of my Chase cards.
Go get em.
I just came back here after a year to dream about this flight.

Thank you!
It has devalued by 30,000 aeroplan pts
The economy YYZ-AUH is pretty crappy on Ethiad.. Business didn't seem better either..
I'd recommend avoiding the 777 if possible and seeking out the newer 787 or A380 for a nicer experience.

Etihad Apartments on the way out + Qsuites on the return + an overwater villa. A dream trip.
