im single. 56. snuggled up in my bed in my cozy one bedroom mansion apt with fireplace and i ❤ it. Ive always enjoyed my freedom. Im so happy for this character that she is choosing to put herself first. And Ms Kendall is perfect for the role. I loveee her❤🦋
I had forgotten all about this series until it appeared in my TH-cam feed yesterday. Watching it bought back happy memories of watching it first time around on Sunday evenings with my beloved much missed mum who went to Heaven last October. I was 17 yrs old at the time and in my final year in school sixth form. How the years have flown by! Thanks for posting this series on TH-cam. 5:01
I remember this show so fondly. It aired on our public television channel here in Southern California, and it was my introduction to the fabulous Felicity Kendal. What a treat to find it again. ❤ 😊
Thank you for uploading this classic from Carla Lane. I started watching the first series on another channel on TH-cam, but I got half way through it and then I couldn't find the channel again. So Thank You Again. A bit of Trivia. Bernadette played by Stella Goodier would be back on our TV screens as Iris who was friends with a big green monster, who lived in a greenhouse. From CBBC in the series Greenclaws (1989 - 1990) 📺
When she started gathering things she never wanted them to hang around no more.. I relate.. only the things were all mine saying goodbye to young age. I threw away flaming accessories, wigs, makeup (keeping one lipstick, an eyeliner and a blush) fancy clothes…etc… kept the perfumes, though.😅 For therapeutic purposes, you see. 😅 I felt fresh.. light .. ready to gracefully step into the new age of me. Wardrobes and drawers looked and felt neat. Loved it. Been that way for years.. still feel and appear neat and more elegant. Also, been off men. 👋🏻😅 Couldn’t have breathed better.
I haven't seen this before. My Dad usually had control over the tele and we had to watch what he did. I remember watching That's My Boy around this time.
Let’s ignore the strikes, the pollution from coal fires, the need to have a campaign to pick up your own litter. Women being paid less and prevented from doing certain jobs because of inequality, etc, etc. Ah, life’s wonderful when wearing rose coloured spectacles.
Forgotten all about this series. Brilliant and the 80s when Britain was still Britain before the political class destroyed it. Clean streets, you could afford to rent a decent-ish flat and you could understand what actors said. All gone sadly. 😢
Ahhh! The 1970s and 1980s, when women, and men, were finding themselves! Of course, if and when we found ourselves, well, the discovery was rarely pleasant. And the mother's cavalier attitude about husband's infidelity, in the early years of the AIDS horror, was more than a little bit ill- advised. And the cheating boyfriend? Well not only no big loss, he is no loss at all... Still, this Is Felicity Kendall and there is "Rosemary and Thyme" to look forward to in the following years.😊
I loved this series as a reminder of people's poor choices - the mother's stance on infidelity, the partner's cheating, Gemma forgiving him (albeit temporarily) and even getting involved with the neighbour as a 'friend with benefits' (an unheard term at the time). The sentiments still apply!
Things have not changed. Colin Firth's wife cheated, he still tried to make it work. They eventuallydecided it could not be saved. Just one modern example of the same thing, this time with the male as the "victim".
Gosh it seems to make me feel quite sad watching that. Not the content..I received my highest mark in feminist theory on my degree! It’s just that era..when I was young and family were all around for Christmas..
Oooh…perfect “comfort comedy” for a cold, dark evening. Going to take it to bed with some hot chocolate. Thank you!

I remember this show and loved it, even in 18. Awesome to see it again.

Watch the Good Life previous to this in the 1970's fabulous!!
Loved this years ago nice to see it again thank you ❤
Yipee....hooray❣Fun to find this old favorite again. Thank you❣
Note how Felicity's hair goes from flat and straight at 1.33 to full and bouncy at 1.35. The magic of TV - literally!
Thanks! That was fun.
Strange being now older than the mother but feel younger than all the characters
I feel the same way, Ann. My body says I'm older, but in my mind I still feel young. I think that's probably a good thing, don't you?

Thank you a good first episode. I don't remember ever watching this series which pays off when your my age 😊

Early 80s TV viewing for Posh families.
I loved her in the Good Life. Don't tell the missus.
Britain looked so clean and orderly then.

With all the pain in the diodes down his left side
Many thanks😊
the intro is an old Ukrainian cozak song - їхав козак за дунай 1710 AD

Do you have Life Without George?
Thank you for all you do ❤
Thanks , yes I have.
@vbt1957 Blimey if you get a chance would love to see that, used to love that programme and Simon Cadell and Carol Royle.
Thank you.
Excellent 👍
This is a good little series.I didn't get as far as Series 2 before uploading it.Had the rug pulled out from under me midway. Not over this though😮
Thanks Steve , you had me a bit worried for a moment.
@vbt1957 No it was an innocent casualty of one of their purges.
It's those 2 characters supposedly dwelling upstairs that spoil an otherwise decent first series for me .
good girl 🤣
The ACTRESS HOW A FUNNY LADY IN HER PRIME I LIKED HER IN ROSMART AND L THETME
WHO IS THE ACTRESS GERW
She was good AT BALLROOM DANCING
Enjoyable, but how dated it seems. Thank god times, and attitudes, have changed!
