Me & my ex NEVER missed an episode of this right from the first one. A brilliantly written funny series with the gorgeous Emma Wray. A great pity she vanished from sight after a few years what a waste of a great talent.😪 Happy memories of happier times long ago..........
Coming back to this after all these years the writing is outstanding, and it's not badly dated either, which is surprising. It's also a series where the three strongest characters are all women (Brenda, Pamela and Malcolm's mother). You wouldn't want to be at the wrong end of any of them. Not that Malcolm isn't crucial of course but, initially at least, he's necessarily the passive one albeit becoming more assertive as the series goes on. I confess to having a mild crush on Emma Wray at the time; she had a smile that would light up the screen. It's just a shame that she disappeared off our screens, but I think she had trouble escaping the typecasting and actively disliked the public attention.
Legendary series that is so well written it will never date When i watch it even now has the same effect on me as it did back then thats when you know you have a classic Emma wray is now a nanny packed up acting in 1999 after my wonderful life
The same reason Margi Clarke did there's not a lot of work for a scouse in modern TV sadly. She just couldn't get any work and although there was 5 seasons of this show that only makes up 1 and a half seasons of an American show.
@@dementednun1175I think that Emma really just wanted more from her life than acting and she had a desire to go travelling because that is what she did. I don`t think that it had anything at all to do with not getting parts because all actors have that. As for Margi Clarke, well, she has very much gone the way that most soap actors go, they mainly think that because they are on our TVs, they are big stars, then leave and find out that they are not, that is why a lot of them return. Here is a small list of Scouse actors and I mean small because there are hundreds of them. Jodie Comer. Melanie C. Jason Isaacs. David Morrissey. Stephen Graham. Daniel Craig Michael Sheen. John Bishop, Liza Tarbuck, Craig Charles, Paul McGann, Jennifer Ellison, Gillian Kearney, Peter Serafinowicz, Sunetra Sarker, Abbey Clancy. Raza Jaffrey, Paul Usher, Ravi Kapoor, Lesley Sharp, Ian Hart,
@@dementednun1175 no she was offered more work, she starred in my wonderful life that ran for 3 series. Thee was also 7 series of watching not 5. She had enough of acting, didn’t like the limelight so sacked it off.
Having watched the full series, and doing so again, i have noticed Emma Wray's name is missing from the roll credit's as performing the song in series 1, also on this episode, Her name does appear on the credit's as performing the song in later episodes. i wasn;t able to coment on this till this episode, Series 1 has comments locked. 7/4/2023 @Peckforton

The Costumer needs an oscar; to deck her out like an Essex girl every week is NOT easy!!!
