One of my mothers favorite books (i think you'd consider it a self help/reflection book) to give to everyone she meets is simple abundance a daybook of comfort and joy i however feel this way about where the heart is by billie letts (i love the movie with natalie portman as well) it's such a encouraging journey and a reminder that everything ends and everything can get better
I agree. I think a more important question than "how to I best achieve goal X or Y" is rather "what KIND of person do I want to be"? And fictional characters are great inspiration for that.
I feel like we all have that phase, we read "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***" and think this is great, but then we read something like "The Name of the Wind" and realise how much better fiction is :)
