The way Russian pianists play Rachmaninoff is unique - you can see it on their faces - they really feel the music- which is really amazing while watching them play. Awesome feeling.
On atteins la perfection . Quel talent!
saw Denis Matsuev live once in Hong Kong (playing Rach 3 exactly) and it was forever seared in my mind. no other performance surpasses his. his version has unparalleled intensity.
@@ovasamara Yes, I know that. I just meant I had the chance to see his concert once in person in another location. I love it, and I come back to this video again and again to experience it again.
The 'long' - I like to call it the 'passionate' - cadenza in the first movement at 10:33 is brilliantly played. And the whole execution is absolutely stunning. Rachmaninov would have approved.
Haha yes. It must be amazing. If only conductors would remain that still when they are actually conducting. So many are so over the top and ego-driven.
bach5861 definitely, Rachmaninoff’s can’t hold a candle to this or Horowitz, Gavrylyuk etc. and he even said himself Horowitz played it better than him. Just because it’s the composer playing doesn’t make it instantly the best version.
My absolute artistic respect to Maestro Matusev for his way to perform the most difficult piano works always making music out of it and besides this creating his own jazz-improvisations on a high and pretty professional level.....But that he supports the Kremlin terrorists Lavrov, Medwedew and mass murderer Putin: there's no excuse for the genocide, the terror nation Russia commits on the Ukraine! No matter how much gifted Russian composers, novelists and painters this bloodthirsty country created in the past. Make sure that artists like Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, Horowitz and many others left Russia and they still know why they decided to leave this cruel nation!
Just another pianist playing the piece as fast as possible, giving the orchestra and the listener musical grief and shallowness. When will this stop? So sick of this last movement being butchered like this.

This right here is exactly why he was named the artistic director of the Rachmaninoff foundation. Simply unparalleled.
Merci for posting this video! - from Montréal Québec
Meilleur version de tous les temps !
The bad thing about the concert is that it has an end. Denis matsuev and the orchest are amazing!! regards from argentina.
You can Right click and check Loop - and it keeps playing.

I just wanna die to have the feeling of the conductor at 11:22. What a vibration so energetic!

AHAHAH
geniooooooooooooooooooo!!! impresionante la interpretación de Matsuev!
27:20 That smile, it says a lot...

Always wished there was a version with Thibaudet live on video
best version of the third concerto ever
Better then Rachmaninov himself? Are u kidding, man?!

Lively performance
It wouldn’t hurt if he let the music breath once in a while
What was that weird cut at 31 something?
I’m not sure but every version he plays has the same cut

How can he support terroriste war in Ukraine. Brainwashed !
I like Russian pianists' performance.. since it reminds me desolate Tundra of northern continent

So fast 1st movement...

I agree . Seemed like he lost it a bit at the end. Luganski has some amazing performances on TH-cam. Better than this one
