Imagine flying a plane on a lovely day and spotting another plane ( ghost plane) flying alongside you, unaware that it was your best friend who died in an air combat a few years ago.

As he flew on, he thought about the past, the Belkan war, the Continental war, and the most recent, the lighthouse war, he thought about all those lives lost, to the ones he knew, and the ones who were opposing him. in the now peaceful sky his F15 shining bright, his trusty wingman by his side, looking on to the horizon, at the admiral andersen, he radioed to Count, "let's buzz the tower" covering his smile with his mask, count radioed back "let's do it buddy"
As they buzzed past the Admiral Anderson, Trigger saluted the sailors that sent him out here, the sailors that helped him win the war, he realised that his time in the sky was done, it was time to set down his eagle, and he said to Count "thanks buddy, for always being there for me"
Count said back "you know, Tabloid wasn't wrong when he said 'stick with Trigger, you'll make it"
Trigger smiled, hed lost friends along the way, family even, he thought about his original squadron, Mage and Golem, as the sun disappeared behind the horizon, he saluted one last time. "Clown, wherever you are, I hope you're proud of who I've become, what I've achieved, and I hope fort grays is well, may fate bring us together again, take care of Brownie for me"
Count took him back to the dorms, where the LRSSG were going to have a meal, a celebration for the end of the war. Long Caster walks in.
    "So who's hungry?"

AWACS picks up a faint and intermittent signal closing in and closing fast. Contact is identified as a lone F-22 Raptor with a ribbon emblem on it's tail. "This is Mobius 1, entering the airspace."

@@LucasRicciottiMusic Ride through the sky shows great compositional skills in you. I would say that you are already one of the best among the second generation of epic/trailer music composers. (by the first generation I mean Thomas Bergersen, Globus, E. S. Posthumous, Audiomachine, Ivan Torrent, Jo Blankenburg etc.)
I wish you wonderful experiences and the strength to further realize the potential in yourself!

where every he is, where ever he fly's, he will always be part of everyone of us, he may be a fictional character, but he is a ace pilot in all of our souls, the pilot with the three strikes, one day we will all be soaring in up in the deep dark blue as pilots, flying till our hearts content, to fight, to live, to strive. We ace combat players, Project wingman players are all aces! and always will be! remember that my friends, Follow trigger, and you'll make it.

Each pilot we play as is the embodiment of The Ace. Unstoppable, unshakable, undefeated. No matter the foe, no matter the odds, no matter if the whole world is against them, they always emerge victorious.
I like to think characters like that are the best parts of ourselves. The person each one of us want to be: a hero.

One last flight. An elderly gentleman's request. He was apparently a pilot long, long ago. Rumors run rampant through the base as people come up with all sorts of nonsensical reasons why this old man would want to fly high once more. Some thought he was a commercial pilot, others, a spy plane operator, even more thought him a former Allied Pilot from a war nigh a century ago. Either way, you were selected to take him up. You were to take him up in an old prop plane, let him relive being a pilot once more. Do a few tricks, buzz the tower, have a little fun, then settle back down after an hour or two of flying. The plane, and the gentleman, would arrive in the morning. As such, you stuffed yourself into your bunk early, and got some good sleep.
    Morning.
You were decked out in your uniform, a few medals stuck to your chest. Whispers were abundant, eyes watching you as you strode down the hallway. A whisper nearby told you "enemy pilot". Was someone going to show up and pretend to be a foe to shoot down? That'd be cute. Maybe let the old man take the controls for a bit? Even cuter. Regardless, you push through the doors and make your way to the airfield. You spot the plane you'll be flying. A plane from... Almost a century ago. It looked drop-dead gorgeous, though. You were glad you took that certification when you were first starting out. It'd be an honor to fly such an old beauty. Then you met your charge, and your mind blanked and your blood turned to ice.
Enemy pilot, indeed. A foe from lifetimes ago. Your country and his, locked in a deadly war. Millions dead. He stood there, leaning on a cane, gripping it with gnarled old hands, talking with reporters, having a good laugh and talking about little stories from decades ago, long before you were born. A survivor of the war. He had to be in his early 80s, you think. His chest is *swamped* with medals. As you were walking over, you did a haphazard count. 20-something medals. Bravery, skill, defeating foes, rescuing allies, and so on. Even that most legendary of medals from that enemy nation. It was hung proudly about his neck, with another fancy-looking medal pinned to his lapel. Part of you was irritated that you had to take some old prick from an enemy nation up in a beautiful aircraft, only to glance at it and realize that it was one of theirs', too. Enemy plane, enemy pilot. Well, sod it. It was just for one day, right?
You met with him. His name was Alphonse Steyre Wohlgūnin. Regardless, you greeted him, remained pilot, and helped him into the seat behind your own. A light bit of conversation, with you remaining professional. He was clearly happy to be sitting in the plane, looking out at the airfield as you got this old bird into the air. You remembered stories from your grandfather and father about the war, with your grandfather having participated and your father having lived through it as a toddler. Most of them were about how much they hated one another, and a small piece of you carried that hate. Regardless, it was just for one day.
As you reached 25,000ft, you had realized that the old man hadn't said a thing since you hit 10,000ft. You checked the old plane's mirrors, and took a few moments to realize he had watery eyes. He was staring out at the mountains and ocean near the base, lost in thought. You remained silent for now, as he spoke silently to himself. You could hear it, thanks to the microphone that was not only to record the flight for the media, but so you two could communicate with ease.
"Nothing ever as beautiful. I'm sorry we couldn't share it, my friends. We made a promise, and I couldn't keep it. I tried so hard, but I couldn't... I hope you'll forgive this old man for taking so long..." Several more seconds of silence, your eyes catching his letting those tears finally go. His voice creaked and strained, but he didn't let himself shatter. He merely raised his hand up and wiped away the tears, exhaling softly. "I miss you. I miss you all so much. And I hope that, when I get there... Everybody is waiting for me. Including those we fought, so, so long ago... I hope the bastard that shot me down that one last time is waiting there. I'd want to settle that score, high in the skies above the afterlife." A weary chuckle, and then a sniffle. An exhale, and he recollected himself.
A realization that, no matter the lines upon the map, pilots are just little boys and girls that dreamed of those vast, blue skies. Of sharing them with friends, with fellow pilots. The flags they flew, the uniforms they wore, the language they spoke. What did it matter, when the skies above were so vast, so wonderful... So beautiful. That was what made this moment so important. This old pilot never wanted to hurt others. He just wanted to fly. Just like you did, when you grew up on your grandfather's stories, and saw planes flying overhead in air shows.
Eventually, he began to speak to you again, and you two began to have more personal conversations, realizing just how much you had in common. You even let him have the controls of the plane, letting him pull off a few tricks and even bring it in for a landing. Your hands, of course, were never more than a few centimeters from the stick, just in case. After your feet were back on the ground, the old pilot thanked you for your help, and wished you luck in the service of your country. The last words he said will stick with you for the rest of your life.
"No matter our history, the Knights of The Air will always chase that gorgeous blue above. I hope it runs just as deep in you as it does in me."
One last flight for an elderly gentleman. A once-foe looking for closure, and to experience the beauty of flight one more time. A pilot, through and through.
    A Knight of The Air
