And at the end of the Journey, the Lonely Fox realized something.... it was never alone, surrounded by the friends and family made along the way. It was not the Destination that mattered, but the journey and all the memories that were made....

Maybe you want to hide and stop going forwards, but if you take that leap of faith and look up.. Your path becomes all the more clear and its not such a scary thing anymore. Face your fears. Everything will be okay."

This sounds like the kind of music that plays at the end of an Ace Combat game where the final boss superweapon starts collapsing in on itself and your allies are cheering like they haven’t done before in their life.

It is a fox 1’s journey all right, that thing knocked the wings out of me.
Amazing! I think one of your best ones yet, and.. more complex than the others. I like the depth and flurry of interpretations that this piece offers. I will try to make my analysys of it below:
The theme of the track is.. a bit nostalgic but mainly energetic, hopeful and full of life - as in actually shows life as something inherently beautiful. In addition it seems to carry a sense of a closing of a chapter - that a part of life has ended and a new one is dawning. Another thing I sense is curiosity - something very typical in foxes and on the image we see him intrested in the ..aircraft above, but more on that later
This is intriquing on its own because this is partially supported by the title of the track, but only partially. Fox, a small , lively animal living in the wilds. Certainly full of life, energy and seeing one in the Forrest would probably make most people happy.. however the second word does not fit much. Lonely. Lonelyness certainly isn't a positive or energetic word. Depressing, nostalgic yes, but not energetic. This means the word has another meaning, obvious to us players of Ace Combat: Missle. Callout used when launching a missle. So in reality the song isn't really about foxes, but rather its focus is the sky. Furthermore.. on the ref image we see the Fox is not alone - there is another Fox with him. The idea that there is a second meaning is supported by the reference art, which while showing a Fox, focuses on the Sky, which is more detailed than the ground. We also see contrails in the sky. Aircraft or missles.
I believe its an aircraft and the track is not about war, but rather about the end of it. It is too happy, to hopeful to be a war track. So what does 'lonely missle' mean? Not much in war, as in war there is always more than 1 missle flying. Plus the song is too grandiose and its focus isn't the missle.. but lonelyness also means.. abandonment. We feel lonely when people close to us have left and we have no one to support us. Lonelyness however also has a sense of absolute freedom, as if you are alone, you can go wherever you want and pursue whatever things you do want.. So why are we alone, and happy, when a new era is dawning and life seems hopeful? The way I see this, because the war has ended, and the fighter craft are returning home for the last time. The world is once again at peace and people can enjoy the beauty of the world once more.
But we are left with one question.. why are the foxes on the ground and looking up? Why are they small, but looking high (having high hopes and ambitions?) I think because the 2 foxes represent a new generation, which is inspired by the tales of the brave warriors who defended the skies of their homeland, and want to join them.
And I think that is the true meaning of the track. While the skies are once again clear , its colours perfect, changing shades of blue, and no longer in need of heroes to protect them, we should not be sad because it ended but happy, as young foxes below now have a bright future to look up to, and lives of fallen soldiers will be remembered - and their spirits live on, inspiring new generations to take to the skies as well.
As a massive sucker for piano, I was immediately enchanted to listen to more of this. I'm unsure whether this comparison is harmful or not, but it reminds me alot of that kind of "nostalgia" when it comes to older films produced by companies like Disney and more. Honestly, it's incredible how much emotions and images that could flash in my head as a result of it. Thank you Lucas for the wonderful music.

This brings me so much peace...
While listening to this music, I'm imagining a bittersweet ending scenario where a spear-wielding "awakener", who were ordinary people who gained rpg-like superpowers as the monsters first manifested into the Earth, has slained one of the final boss villains that kept plaguing the world after a very long and gruesome battle. However, that triggered a new achievement that would forcefully "ascend" him to become a higher being (aka a god). The dialogue box--that first appeared to him after he became an awakener--reminded him that due to his bravery and mastery of his skills in defeating the hero, he was chosen to ascend. Since that "ascension" would happen in less than a minute after it triggered, he has no chance to say goodbye to compatriots who were busy fighting the now weakened enemies outside the large fortress where the villain lived, and also to his parents and friends at his home city who were waiting for him to return.
But despite being very sad about it, he sat and leaned in a standing piece of the wall that got mostly demolished from the fighting, and he thrusted his battle-worn spear on the ground. This spear is coated in gold with red and black accents beautifully placed on the spear shaft. It also has long thin pennons resembling the flags of Norway and the Philippines tied near the spear blade, symbolizing his Norwegian mother and Filipino father. The spear was a gift from his parents after he attained the rank of S, the highest possible rank of an awakener--in which only 5 people have achieved such a rank. He did not know the situation of those people as they were also battling other the final bosses scattered across the world. They might be also under the process of ascending after they have defeated them, or not--he did not know. He looked in the sky from a very large hole in the ceiling as he slowly disintegrates into golden particles. He wanted to at least say goodbye to his parents who are very loving and very supportive to him, but he can't as his phone was damaged beyond repair. He knew he has nothing to do to stop the countdown, but it gave him peace that he massively contributed in giving the Earth and the humanity, including his parents, another chance to live more relatively peaceful and to prosper. Exhausted from all the fighting, he closed his eyes, teary, while reliving all the good memories from all of his loved ones, most especially his parents, in his head. After a while he smiled and finally disintegrated into gold particles floating into the sky, only leaving his spear behind.
Gives me a Journey Home feel, almost. After war's end, after all the suffering done in the name of doing what is right no matter the cost, it is good to take solace in family and friends. But those who return from war are forever changed. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.
Question about the art: are the foxes watching an Ace and his wingman fly home? Those almost look like contrails they're watching...
This has to be your best piece yet, Lucas. I listened to this on loop while doing some worldbuilding and it was the best session I've had with it in a good while. Keep it up, man!
