    just bought a 2009 2.0 TDCI Titanium X with all the option boxes ticked. my grandad drives a 2010 3.0 V6 Jag XF, and this mondeo drives just as good as the jag, and has even more kit in it. absolutely love it. A big step up from my little 1.4 fiat punto that I previously had.

    I have a 2008 2.0 petrol in zetec trim. I've added a bit of Chrome and changed the standard ford radio for a Sony one. Bought the complete set of speakers from a Ghia model to match the radio. Very nice cars to drive, solid with no rattles. The 2.0 duratec engine in it is surprisingly economical. I was averaging 36mpg which when you consider it weighs 70kgs more than the MK3 is good. I thought about having a diesel but with high miles things can get expensive.

      we have had a few high mileage diesels, and not really had any problems with them

    Like cruise control, somtimes it can fail to work simply because of dirt that needs blowing out from behind the steering wheel buttons or some car cleaning fluid behind them. 18 inch wheels seem to go through tyres in no time. Parking sensors are an advantage. Mondeos are roomy comfy and quiet. Massive boot if it has a space saver wheel. Lot of good quality replica parts available.

    The big issue with these newer Diesel engines is, the DPF destroys the engine on long term. Today because of the DPF you can't buy a Diesel car if you drive in majority in the city. The DPF become clogged and in addition you've to chance the engine oil more frequently.

    The thing that i hate the most about Mk4 Mondeos, mine included, is the centre console plastic trim squeaking a lot, you can hear in video as well.

    You might want to hold in the handbrake button when engaging the handbrake... helps not to wear out the ratchet. Nice car -

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      been in the motor trade 45 Years, never ever replaced a ratchet on a handbrake on any of the cars I've had in stock, or owned

      I actually had a bmw were the handbrake ratchet was worn out, so i had it replaced.

    • @alanjm1234
      @alanjm1234 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Liam94Smithit's not a myth, although most people will probably never use the handbrake enough to wear the ratchet.
      But my driving instructor showed me the old handbrake lever he'd had to replace in his car because it wore out the ratchet pawl. Obviously the handbrake on a driving school car gets an unusually high amount of use, but it's not a myth.
