Thanks for this video my man! I watched it countless times along with studying exactly what you’re saying and doing in my notes! I passed my Air Brakes test today!
Thank you, I took my test today and passed. I watched 5 or six times and the test went exactly as in this video. Don't forget your declaration at the end the examiner loved it.
Great video, just passed my test today. Just remember that the slow pressure air build up is a minor defect not major. Also remember to state that if you have an defects that you would 1. Report it to your employer 2. Write it in your daily log book 3. Continue driving (minor) Remove the truck from the road (major)
this really helped with my Z airbrake class & also with D truck training. fell asleep with this on loop and woke up to this on loop. really work and helps thank you for posting this. Remember LAGGASS
I live in Winnipeg Manitoba I have my class 1 and my air endorsement and I can say 100% you explained air brakes very well. It seems hard at first but once u do it a bunch of times it becomes easier and easier. And even adding a trailer brake valve doesn't really make much of a difference. It's pretty much the same process. So if anyone is sceptical of air brakes and this guys knowledge just know that he's the real deal.
When we go for our test will it be in this exact truck, every trucks air tank placements are different so how do you know how to locate them? Also do we need to bring the measurement tools ?
When he measures the braoe chamber and pushes yellow valve in, does he have his brake on? I thought you weren't supposed to get out with yellow pressed in?
Thanks Andrew. This is a very thorough and helpful video. When you take the air brakes test, though, is it standard practice for examiners to let you explain your actions from start to finish, as you did; or might some examiners, depending on state or province, take the approach of them asking and you responding and demonstrating?
I am not entirely sure. When I did my test, I was expected to do as I did in the video; to show/explain everything. However, on the Schedule 1 portion, they will ask you questions about particular parts of the truck and you'll have your sheet to respond.
You can either do combo courses, or what I did was Z first by itself to make a GZ license, then did a A restricted course or you could do a D course, the Ar to give me ArZ which covers DZ and is done in a pickup with trailer instead of large truck and airbrakes being part of the roadtest
Hi, Thank you for sharing this video. If you are okay, May I ask about DZ driver's license? My friend got DZ driver's license fr.Ontario. But His number of driver's license is not match with his first letter of last name and last six digit of birthday. What I know it should be matched with those. Is there any cases it could be difference or unmatched with first letter of last name and date of birth for last six digit? Or is it fake ID?? Thank you for reading my question.
Hey brother, to be totally honest, I'm not 100% sure. In my experience, the same number on my license has carried over from the day I received my G1. You'd be best off asking your buddy or calling the MTO (Ministry of Transportation).
Looks like the battery switch. Instead of turning your key to the “auxiliary” like a normal car you often just use a big battery switch to turn the power on
"My spring brakes held. If they had failed, the truck would be defective and taken out of service. I will test my service brake before I leave the yard."
Lol most hyw trucks don't have tire chalks and I bet when there is a fire you don't do that every time. Seeming most fire halls have there trucks air tank plugged into an exsillery air supply . Lol but good job instructor.
Most trucks have automatic slack adjusters, and to work on either form of slack adjuster you need to be certified. The road test instructor just wants to see you know how to check them and know the allowable travel limit on the system on your truck.
When you do air pressure build up you need to pull out the red button and when you do the governor cut in you suppose to push the trialer break bakc in , what a ridiculous video
If by “red button”, you mean trailer brakes, this truck didn’t have them. There’s various orders you can test your brakes in. In my video, I only released my spring brakes at the begging and engaged them when I did the spring brake tug test; this reduces unnecessary air loss. My wheels were chocked so it was perfectly safe having them released during my air build up and governor cut in
When he was measuring the brake chamber and pressed yellow valve in then got out, does he have an brake on? I thought you weren't suppose to get out of the truck with yellow pressed in?
You are one of the few people on the internet that actually deserves to make money from your video. Thank you brother, you're a king

Great to hear!
Hey! Did you get a good trucking gig? Wondering if it’s worth it..
@@andrewmeffe2083 Flying a Cessna seams easy
What is the “declaration”
Is there actually driving involved in the test? Or is it just this?
Test was exactly like this. 13/10 thank uou so much. This video is why I passed.
Thank you so much for posting this, Andrew! I took my test yesterday at Ontario Truck Driving School and I passed!
Congratulations. Happy to help brother!
Thank you very much. Major help over reading
Solid video brother watched like 6 times already. Also watched your other video. Thanks man.
I appreciate that!

What is laggard pls my test is coming up
Thanks for this video. Really helpful. A good preparation before I start my Z endorsement course

Thanks for the video. This was exactly what I wanted
Well explained good job guys
Well done sir , well done!
Excellent video..straight forward 👍🏾
Litterly memorized this video and passed

Need help.. the low pressure build up rate 85-100 is that a minor or major defect? The schedule one says it’s a minor defect
When he measures the braoe chamber and pushes yellow valve in, does he have his brake on? I thought you weren't supposed to get out with yellow pressed in?
wheels r chalked but
great video thank you
So if had a Unimog in Ontario, I would have to pass this test? It has airbrakes.
Thanks Great Video

Do you need to take a course for the Z endorsement or can I just go do this test and the D written?

5:10 - can't make out what is being said. Talking over the engine.... otherwise, great video.

We absolutely chock the wheels every time the apparatus is at an emergency or parked. It takes moments.
What kind of BS is this, where you only measure one pushrod and don't adjust your slack adjusters before hand?
Is this true?
Totally agree with you on that one, however, on your air brake TEST, your evaluator will only pick one one to measure.
it's a demonstration video, no need to check all for a demonstration, and you need to be certified to adjust brakes
You need to be certified to do brakes adjustment in Ontario !

@@danmclean9784the brakes were NOT engaged. The rear wheel was chocked and I was on flat ground so it was safe for me to exit the truck to measure
