I've had a lot of you tell me that you don't know what your passion actually is. In a system where our source of income is made to be our identity, it's often hard to answer the question of what you would do if money wasn't a factor. In this video, I discuss why so many people struggle to find a passion, and give you some tips on how you can.

I started with an accounting major. Then I realized that even though I was very organized and good with numbers, it was boring af lol.
So then I switched to environmental science. I'm passionate about the environment and thought it would be a good fit. Then it became numbers, and when I asked my professor what a 'day in the life' of an environmental scientist was like, I realized that was also something I didn't want to do.
I had to think about what brought me REAL, LASTING joy... I noticed that when I cook, I get into "the zone". I get genuinely excited to experiment with flavors, I love cooking shows, and when I was a waitress I'd look at the chefs in the kitchen with envy. Even though starting out is a garbage salary, I didn't care after being so miserable trying to get through my university classes about things I didn't give a shit about lol.
I'm almost 29. And even after going through years of military service to pay for college and then a couple years more in uni, I said F*UCK IT. I wanna do what I love, regardless of how much it pays!
I start culinary school in July, and I plan to open my own restaurant, because that's what I REALLY want to do 💕👩🏽‍🍳

I dealt with that today. I had an interviewer say they were worried about me not wanting to grow with the company since my resume shows I haven't stayed at a job for more that a year in the past few years. I told them that I am a dedicated and hard worker but I can't promise the future. No one can. If I like the job and I have a good team, I'll stay. If it's a horrible workplace. I'm leaving. It would be insane not to leave. It's like staying in an abusive relationship.

Testing aint even that bad if they comforted us with the fact that grades do not define us and out intelligance but our memory. I think they do that on purpose,if they comforted us that wouldnt make us feel guilty about not passing but idk why they feel like its fine to not to comfort us but seeing us stressing and even worst : when it’s starting to effec our mental health, them sleepless nights, energy drinks and coffee drinks becomes our only way of staying up,the amount of all nighters we pull etc. Testing is good, but the idea they have given to us about test is so bad and thats why we hate tests😕

England is pretty crowded, more international and busy, I can’t imagine the competition between schools and the battles between you and your mental health , you have to start to learn to apprecciate your body and put your mental health first (do stuff you like) to be able to cope in school. Maybe a little perspective shift on testing can change you view on them which can bruh less stressful for you. Praying for u guys💜

Love this topic! From personal experience, I’ve learned that I’m much happier if I don’t tie my passion to my career. The last time I monetized my hobby/interest, I got super depressed & burnt out, and had no healthy outlet anymore to decompress. So I think for me, it’s no longer important to be “passionate” in a career. Sure, it should interest me and align with my values, but it doesn’t have to be the love of my life either.

When creating streams of income, they should resonate with you to a certain extent. Don't sell out even if you can make a ton of money. For an example... don't do dropshipping if you are against consumerism. Most people leave jobs because they don't want to be a sellout. Don't start a business that will cause you to sell out. Be unique. Be yourself.

I love to see everyone evolving and understanding that conformity isn't the norm. I am a life purpose coach and one thing I speak about with my clients is when it comes to passion it isn't always something that comes innately. Passion can be cultivated by exploring different things which can lead to our purpose. Passion also doesn't mean its something we are going to enjoy every single day. The biggest thing that keeps us going is the WHY. Passion is subject to change because we change and evolve. The more flexible we are with exploration and trying new things the more we give ourselves better opportunities at finding different things to be passionate about. I absolutely love your positivity. Such a beauty ❤

It's usually the first thing that they ask of me, and I feel embarrassed to say, "I don't have a job, I'm 'trying' to be a youtuber". One thing I really love if money wasn't an issue is to perform, to sing, to dance, on stage anywhere. I also want to lead people and just join different organizations, and just attend seminars to learn. I also want to travel with my family and friends without worrying about money. I would like to offer some unsolicited insight to those who find this comment.
The ability to create is a beautiful thing and one of the gifts we were born with. We literally are creating our reality with our moment to moment thoughts, words, and deeds.
Even though we are creating on a daily basis, to create the life we want, we have build the foundation of it. Imagine all the things you would like to do that you might not be doing that could make you money (writing, drawing, making TH-cam videos, etc). Those things are like cinder blocks and you need those to build the foundation of your new house (your new life).
Making a TH-cam video, writing an article, drawing/painting a picture, etc. is like setting a block down and building your foundation. Don't depend on that one article or piece of art or TH-cam video to make you rich where you can just chill and not do anything anymore. That rarely happens and you actually don't want it to happen. It might make you lazy. You want to always be creating because that's what we are here to do. We are literally here to create our life and love the process.
So if you are working a job you hate and want to start creating the life you want, understand the journey and process is what will make your heart and soul happy just as much as when you finally get to the point where you can quit your job and work for yourself.

I had a passion. I spent my childhood learning, studying into high school, studying into college, and then moving to the location where I would have the best outcome.
I gave it my all for almost 35 years. I never really got anywhere, due to a variety of circumstances.
I took other jobs for a while and had something resembling a career for 15 years. But now, I'm in a position where I found out that I am Autistic, and I have a 5.5 year gap.
So Vocational Rehab is asking me, "What do you want to do?"
    I don't know.
So they ask me what I love. I tell them what I love, and that I already tried, and this cannot be monetized for me.
VR can't help me. I'm out of options.

Not to mention is it rly smart to have us passion as a job, people change and our passion changes.the job should pay for your passion,as long as you’re ok with your work and don’t make unneccesary relationships in jobs. Its different ofc if u want to be a doctor or something like that where u know u will thrive in that job,let it be your passion job.
Generally That job should pay for your passions, travelling, photography, etc. For your living.

!! I literally feel like I have convinced myself that I don't have really any passions because half to most of the ones I wanted to explore past a basic level costs money OR I had people around me (family is a factor for some of us too) who thought what I was doing was a waste of time, and intended to me that I should get right to committing my life to work :( I KNOW that I'm someone that likes to do and try a variety of things deep down inside, but I think I even convinced myself that there's nothing I want to do anymore and I've tied negative memories to things I like due to money and family.

This is so me. I really enjoy drawing and I wanted to make art my living and also design clothes for fashion shows. But I've been doubting myself, doubting if I can actually make a living out of it and whether it's something I want to do for a long time. And I guess I've attached it to monetary passions and it's really discouraging that I have to attach money to everything I like doing.

Breaking free from those limiting beliefs around money and doing what you love can be so so hard, especially when it comes from family. A lot of times it’s just them projecting their own fears around money onto you. I wish you all the best, do not give up bc the more you recognize where those limiting beliefs come from the more power you have to turn them around!

I felt this video in my soul. I refuse to live my life working 40 hours a week doing something I really don't give af about. I want to live a life of beauty, existence, fulfillment and a traditional corporate job provides none of that. Also, it takes a lot of courage to be honest with yourself. Are you living your life to fulfill yourself or to fulfill society's standard of what success is? That could realizing you went to college to study a subject because you thought it would bring you money and social respect, when in reality you hate the field.

If you're young and considering a career or vocation in a certain area, for God's sake, do an interview with someone who's experienced in that field, AND make damn sure to be blunt and ask them to tell you not just what they love about their field, but also, what they hate about it. Failure to do this IMO, is why the average College student changes their major two or more times! Doing "informational interviews" will help you avoid taking unnecessary training(s) or obtaining inappropriate degrees. As a retired vocational/academic Counselor, I can't tell you how many folks jump right into obtaining degrees, only to find they hate the actual career!

  • @stokedupart4078
    @stokedupart4078 ปีที่แล้ว +1

A few ways to find out what you'd love to do or put things into perspective. It can change overtime but that's okay.
    1) you're going to die in an year or two.
    2) you've achieved financial freedom and abundance, and have loads of free time in your hands.
    3) you're on your death bed( or a garden dying) and glance back at life and see the things you did.
I have a lot of passions, but I also have a job that slowly kills me( word to the song no surprises by radiohead). Jobs create complacency, but if you can notice the pattern and rewire it, that's a start. To whoever reading this, love and peace. Take it easy.

I feel personally attacked, because I do EXACTLY what you just described: learn more about the thing than actually doing the thing lol. But for me, the idea of failure is so crippling that to this day I’m still struggling with it and this year has been the greatest growth experience ever! So I’m slowly ripping off more bandaids and diving in (sometimes with my eyes closed lol), but with every bandaid I rip off and see how easy it was the more confident I become and the more I’m willing to try. So this video was an affirmation that I’m off to a great start!

our money system actually encourages charitable donation for relatively wealthy people. donating money to your kids school produces tax write offs that can be super beneficial, which is questionable
