Its better to use the dondozo stragtegy ss an endgame strategy since you would hsve cleared out most of youre opponent pokemon that can manage its stat buff state. You want to get rid of clear smoggers as best as posibble especially masked cat with signiture crit attack. Dozo can clean up the rest snd hopefully tatsuguri can ko if its in a stand off with the last pokemon
Dang! So there's a workaround to allow Dondozo to swim around with a +2 omni boost, and another partner, now that's crazy! I fear for the competitive scene how nasty the meta will be! XD
btw heres the counter: opportunist espathra holding mirror herb you get +4 in every stat, baton pass out to oricorio and swap slot 2 with flamigo now you have +4 in every stat, on 2 pokemon, and you can attack 3 times per turn instead of two by using revelation dance + copycat the only unfortunate part of this is you dont get stored power on oricorio but you do get stored power on espathra so you can also stay in on espathra and use stored power + copycat for easy wins oh and you can also get +6 with this too, just wait for the opponent to swap in flamigo before you baton pass out, now youve got 2 maxed out pokemon that attack 3 times per turn

Hey, Foo, I found what I think might be busted in Singles. Maushold has two VERY good signature moves, Tidy Up and Population Bomb. Tidy up is pretty much just Dragon Dance that removes hazards, making it already great for singles. Population bomb is a base 20 power move with 90% accuracy. The accuracy check will occur up to 10 times, attacking every time it succeeds. The moment a check fails, the move ends. However, an item called “Loaded Die” increases the number of times multi-hit moves succeed, and guarantees at least four hits from Population Bomb if it hits. Maushold also has the Technician ability, which boosts each individual attack from Population Bomb by 50%. Population Bomb is also a STAB move, so another 1.5x multiplier. This means if the first accuracy check succeeds, Maushold will do a minimum of 4*20*1.5*1.5 damage, which is a base 180 power move. However, it can hit up to 10 times, meaning you, if lucky, could get an essentially base 450 power move that’s only drawback is 90% accuracy. On top of all this, while Maushold’s attack isn’t great, being at base 70-something, its speed is excellent as base 111. So, my preposition is a Maushold with max HP and Speed, with Tidy Up, Population Bomb, and any combination of Bite, Low Sweep, Bullet Seed (also buffed by Loaded Dice and Technician), Trailblaze, or U-Turn. Idk how viable this would be, given Maushold’s lackluster defenses and base attack, but I think it would at least be a fun gimmick.
@@noxalbus Wide lens requires an item slot, which is occupied by the loaded dice. Edit: Wait, I'm stupid. I forgot that just running Wide Lens would guarantee all 10 hits. Well, then I guess just run Loaded Dice if you want to run Bullet Seed, but if not, Wide Lens is the way to go.
I knew about this strat from yesterday and it's pretty nice for those of you who want counters I recommend salt cure gargancl which kills dondozo in 4 turns prankster haze murkrow or just any unaware Mon with haze

After Tatsugiri faints could you use a pokemon with revival blessing to bring it back and then switch it back in to potentially give Dondozo another +2 to every stat?
I saw a smaller channel use this strategy except using an Azumarill with Perish Song and then switching the Azu out for Dondozo before the count goes to 3. Seems more reliable in a way
have you considered using the new Covert Cloak on a self-destruct/explosion Pokémon to avoid fake out/flinching? This could allow you to run Garganacl with Covert Cloak with Sturdy and Explosion for basically the same but it hits harder, no? It even has Stealth Rock and Wide Guard in case the opponent explodes before you do so you can take out their Dondozo + Flamigo
As iffy as I feel about a lot of the new Pokémon (I’m sure I’ll get used to them), I do love how wild and crazy some of the abilities, pairings and competitive options there are 🥰
Yes, I was thinking about adding weather. Equally, Drifblim can run rain dance over clear smog but you have to predict the sand if they don't lead with it. Most people aren't aware of the strat yet though so you don't need to make such intense predictions so far
wonder how this would interact with pawmot's revival blessing used on tatsugiri? would take some setting up but a +4 omniboost on two pokemon would be super hard to beat
ooo i didn't think of using explosion drifblim, ive been running banded self uturn dragapult with endure black sludge tatsugiri to get the strat going turn 2 with a banded dragapult in the back. The self uturn strats are obviously weak to follow me/rage powder which your explosion is a fun way to beat
Hello Foofootoo, could you please test a few things related to this strategy for me? What happens if ability cancelling stuff (like Neutralising Gas for example, though that would be in the future when the pokedex expands) comes in when Either Dondozo or Tatsugiri try to activate their ability? What happens when their ability is swapped (either by things like Lingering Scent, or skill swap)?
seems like this strat works better for vgc by using perish song instead of explosion toxic orb. perish song lets you lose 1 pokemon instead of 2 in a single turn, gives the dodonzo flamigo combo a powerful support option just in case things go south. It also scares away anyone that intends to haze on your combo
If u want to counter this just play gengar sash, and when you see someone on the field near tastugiri ready to explode, or if u see a possible dondozo switch put your gengar in and then use clear smog, easy as that, remember that gengar is sash and he is faster that dondozo also at +2 if his speed is under 175 so u can clear smog also if you are late, I personally try to setup a tailwind first so I'm sure that my gengar is faster and also don't have to relate on how ur opponent spreaded dondozo
My friend ran into this strategy yesterday. He literally lead with Tyranitar and the Tatsugiri died turn 1 from the sandstorm chip. The enemy clicked forfeit immediately.
Just use Meowscarada to counter it. With its 123 speed stat it’ll outspeed even +2 Donzahsks whatever its name is. And with its always critting grass move it’ll ignore the defense boost and hit super effectively with crit boost
@@ddgnp1057 it won’t be there at first turn. Tutsugiri needs to be there. After seeing the team preview everyone would know what they’re up to. Send Meowscarada first or use choice scarf that way you’ll outspeed even Flamigo with +2 speed. With it’s protean and U turn its actually a good scarf user
I would consider maybe investing enough bulk to survive Explosion without Endure on Tatsugiri. That way you wouldn't necessarily HAVE to click Endure if you have a chance to be more aggressive.

The whole point of them for me is that I love Tatsugiri, I hope there are some cool strategies that don't involve sacrificing Tatsugiri like that
Its better to use the dondozo stragtegy ss an endgame strategy since you would hsve cleared out most of youre opponent pokemon that can manage its stat buff state. You want to get rid of clear smoggers as best as posibble especially masked cat with signiture crit attack. Dozo can clean up the rest snd hopefully tatsuguri can ko if its in a stand off with the last pokemon
If you run opportunist and mirror herb on espathra, you can get +4 in all stats, switch in your ally flamigo, and have two pokemon at a universal +4
Dang! So there's a workaround to allow Dondozo to swim around with a +2 omni boost, and another partner, now that's crazy! I fear for the competitive scene how nasty the meta will be! XD
I saw the exact team in Smogon Doubles OU, I won the battle, but I honestly might just refrain from playing until it gets a quick ban.
btw heres the counter: opportunist espathra holding mirror herb
you get +4 in every stat, baton pass out to oricorio and swap slot 2 with flamigo
now you have +4 in every stat, on 2 pokemon, and you can attack 3 times per turn instead of two by using revelation dance + copycat
the only unfortunate part of this is you dont get stored power on oricorio
but you do get stored power on espathra so you can also stay in on espathra and use stored power + copycat for easy wins
oh and you can also get +6 with this too, just wait for the opponent to swap in flamigo before you baton pass out, now youve got 2 maxed out pokemon that attack 3 times per turn
an Espartha on the opposing team eats this strat for breakfast and shits out a W
This is Ash level strategy and thinking 😍
_turns cap backwards_
Insane as always foo. I’m loving all the new videos
advice (and spoilers)
Scorvillian gets Moody as it's hidden ability
White Herb activates when all the stats are putted in from CoStar
You can take only the positive stats from a Moody mon
have fun
That sounds hilarious
@@foofootoo haven't gotten it to work on showdown yet, but scorvillian also gets growth and I am sensing sun teams getting a huge boost in usage seeing all the scarlet paradox forms
Aye the set up with Garganacl curse with salt cure would be fun to set up some how with another pokemon
It could be a funny answer to Dondozo tbh!
@@foofootoo do u know how u can use terra typeing it can make u a pure ghost alowing for massive turn damage when u use curse that is if it changes the effect
That duck starters constant dancing pisses me off
Hey, Foo, I found what I think might be busted in Singles.
Wide Lens exists you know
@@noxalbus Wide lens requires an item slot, which is occupied by the loaded dice.
That's really cool, what I'm thinking of running is grafaiai with slaking, you doodle truant away and possibly get one of the really stron abilities going around
This is insane... this meta is gonna be wild
After Tatsugiri faints could you use a pokemon with revival blessing to bring it back and then switch it back in to potentially give Dondozo another +2 to every stat?
best poketuber
😁
Welp looks like I’ll be building an opportunist team around Espathra to counter this with rage powder/follow me support 😭
Man, imagine if we had this sorta thing back in the day with Remoraid
Prankster Haze Murkrow is looking very nice right now
I saw a smaller channel use this strategy except using an Azumarill with Perish Song and then switching the Azu out for Dondozo before the count goes to 3. Seems more reliable in a way
The power creep of this gen is way too much
There's just a ton of pretty broken stuff out there tbh. All the end game pokemon are insanely strong
@@foofootoo the primals are insane
This explains why I ran into this combo for 25 matches straight. ty for the headache xD
Interesting proposition to make taking passive damage more reliable, what about using Sticky Barb as Tatsugiri’s item?
It would die before it can be vored
have you considered using the new Covert Cloak on a self-destruct/explosion Pokémon to avoid fake out/flinching?
This could allow you to run Garganacl with Covert Cloak with Sturdy and Explosion for basically the same but it hits harder, no? It even has Stealth Rock and Wide Guard in case the opponent explodes before you do so you can take out their Dondozo + Flamigo
The fact that your Dondozo is nicknamed Vore is both funny and disgusting to me, but mostly funny
I'm glad funny wins out
This whole gen is filled with mons you wouldn’t expect having 2 or 3 stats over 130
It may be broken but can easily be countered by a haze clodsire(preferably with water absorb)
As iffy as I feel about a lot of the new Pokémon (I’m sure I’ll get used to them), I do love how wild and crazy some of the abilities, pairings and competitive options there are 🥰
pretty awesome that gamefreak remembered to add Unaware Hazers just in case
Yeah, and Prankster Haze Murkrow is back as an option too!
Recommend pelipper, tailwind and if your opponent brings in sand, the strategy gets stopped
I saw this I few hours ago in showdown without flamigo it was traumatizing I wanted to cry when I saw that
Hello Foofootoo, could you please test a few things related to this strategy for me? What happens if ability cancelling stuff (like Neutralising Gas for example, though that would be in the future when the pokedex expands) comes in when Either Dondozo or Tatsugiri try to activate their ability? What happens when their ability is swapped (either by things like Lingering Scent, or skill swap)?
First time I heard the term Omni boost lol thought it was going to be some kind of transformation
Game Freak really said: “What if we made Water Pokemon with high stats again like Wishiwashi, but made them STRONGER?”
Its actually whiscash but truely fitting its dragon legends
The "R.I.P. DonDozo" strategy
seems like this strat works better for vgc by using perish song instead of explosion toxic orb.
perish song lets you lose 1 pokemon instead of 2 in a single turn, gives the dodonzo flamigo combo a powerful support option just in case things go south. It also scares away anyone that intends to haze on your combo
Mirror Herb Meta
I love that everyone thought this item would be so situational and wouldn't really be seen, but now it actually seems legit lol
GF is like "Fuck balancing and smogon, I'll non stop put op Pokemon until I'm done!"
Espathra gets Skill Swap I noticed, I think the doubles potential is crazy
Cool strat, but it only works if both opposing mons don't attack. Nice work!
Me who has been trying to figure out ways to use the best pokemon ever made, Pink Angry birb Boi:
Foofootoo: Yo fam, hold my drink
My friend ran into this strategy yesterday. He literally lead with Tyranitar and the Tatsugiri died turn 1 from the sandstorm chip. The enemy clicked forfeit immediately.
"dondozo, the vore Pokémon"
GameFreak do not kink shame
Would recommend kinggambit, houndtone, and maushold, drift bloom, donzo, and tasugiri as a team or swap kinggambit with flamingo
Just use Meowscarada to counter it. With its 123 speed stat it’ll outspeed even +2 Donzahsks whatever its name is. And with its always critting grass move it’ll ignore the defense boost and hit super effectively with crit boost
Did you forget about the +2 base 90 speed Flying/Fighting type it's partnered with?
@@ddgnp1057 it won’t be there at first turn. Tutsugiri needs to be there. After seeing the team preview everyone would know what they’re up to. Send Meowscarada first or use choice scarf that way you’ll outspeed even Flamigo with +2 speed. With it’s protean and U turn its actually a good scarf user
The power creep this gen is insane.
I would consider maybe investing enough bulk to survive Explosion without Endure on Tatsugiri. That way you wouldn't necessarily HAVE to click Endure if you have a chance to be more aggressive.
