  • In October of 2021, Chloe and I took a trip down to America's newest National Park, the New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia. We were able to drive over the New River Gorge Bridge several times and see this mighty marvel from every perspective. We set up camp for a number of nights right next to the New River, deep within the gorge. We checked out the historic ghost town of Thurmond, hiked some epic trails, and took in some absolutely stunning views from all over the park.
And yes, I have been made aware that I pronounce many of the West Virginia words wrong..👍

I really enjoyed this video and thank you so much for sharing it :) I am researching a trip to New River Gorge for the summer of 2023. We sadly only have one day in the park. That being said what would be your must do's if you only had 1 day?

Thank you! I appreciate your comment. I would recommend going to the canyon rim visitor center, and doing the scenic drive down to the river. The endless wall trail to diamond point is probably one you shouldn’t pass up either! Those are both easily achievable in one day!

I found them lovely when I was falling asleep.. but being woken up by a train whistle coming closer and closer and closer was too much for my sleepy brain to comprehend. I would jolt up awake with an adrenaline rush thinking I was going to be run over 😂

I live next to some railroad tracks in my town in WV and boy is it great to be woke up at 3am when the train conductor lays on the horn for 30 solid seconds at a time as he approaches the crossing.
I feel like he does it on purpose, knowing people are asleep and laughing about waking us up. I know he has to honk at each crossing but man, it's 3am and no one is on the road... you can just do a couple toots and be done, you don't have to wake up the whole town.

    KuhNAW
After I heard that, I turned the video off.
Please inform yourself of regional pronunciations before you make a regional video.
For example, in Putnam County WV, we have a town named Hurricane. It is pronounced
    HURicun

    HUR'cun
    Now, try Louisville, Kentucky
    And Cairo, Illinois

I usually do some level of pre planning before I travel places. I will watch TH-cam and go on google maps to plan out interesting spots and drive times and such. So I generally will have an idea of where I am going beforehand.
I just zoom in on places using google maps and start clicking!
