Creek Hopping On Wabasis Creek - Michigan
มุมมอง 1.9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Not known for kayaking or canoeing, Wabasis Creek was a gamble to try. We had seen it enough times to know we could fit down on a kayak, but that's about it. There are a few markings on the GoPaddling app that gave us hope that it was even possible. At the end of the day, I think I was hoping we could make it all the way to the Flat River, how cool would that be? I would not recommend this to a...

Pine River, MI - Kayak Camp and Float - Two Rivers, One Weekend (Part Two)
มุมมอง 4.7K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
We got to float two rivers in one epic weekend! This video shows our time on the Pine River near Baldwin, Michigan. After an over-nighter on the Pere Marquette River (part one), we grabbed a quick nights rest before embarking on our one day adventure down the Pine River. We started our day at Dobson Bridge River Access, and ended 14 miles downstream at Lowbridge River Access. The Pine was fast ...
Pere Marquette River, MI - Kayak Camp and Float - Two Rivers, One Weekend (Part One)

We got to float two rivers in one weekend on this epic adventure. This video will show our time on the first of these rivers, the Pere Marquette. The Pere Marquette was a gorgeous float checking off every box for what make a river great: lots of space, nature, moderate flows, perfect width, and no obstructions. We started at the M37 Landing in Baldwin, MI and floated to Sulak campground for an ...
Bannack Ghost Town - The Great American Road Trip (Part Two)

Part two of the Great American Road Trip was spent adventuring to the different ghost towns in Montana. We woke up in Bozeman and headed out the door for our first stop at Virginia City. This place was an epic relic of the past full of preserved artifacts and museum exhibits to explore. After lunch (and ice cream of course), we were off to the next ghost town which was just down the road, Nevad...

Kayaking - Muskegon River - Big Rapids - Michigan
มุมมอง 474ปีที่แล้ว
Quick float through Big Rapids on a beautiful section of the Muskegon River. We started the float from Northend Riverside Park, and ended at River Bend Bluffs. It took us around 2.5 hours to complete and we paddled a distance of 7.16 miles according to the Alltrails app. Music by: @SOLOTONE TONE. "Something I'd Love to Forget."
Kayaking - Grand River - Downtown Grand Rapids - Michigan
มุมมอง 507ปีที่แล้ว
This is not a trip I would recommend for anybody outside of those looking to cross something off their bucket list, as it was for us. Downtown Grand Rapids is just not accessible for kayaks at this time, and I really hope that changes someday. Beyond downtown the river widens out, and becomes a more decent float. The river maintains a much better pace from here than it does on the upstream side...
Kayaking - Flat River - Michigan - Belding to Fallasburg

Great video, very informative! Helps us with planning our trip. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It’s fun there.
Nice presentation. I'm always amazed and grateful for those who built the trail, stairs, overlooks, etc. Image transporting material and building those stairs on the side of a mountain. Thank you
They are literally a work of art sometimes.. thanks for the comment!
Very nice to watch, thank you, great information, and seeing the wildlife was great!
Thanks! 🙏
What time of year was this filmed?
Second week of October!
@@BRUjank thank you! Son getting married there 3rd week in Sept 25. Wondering about weather and leaves…
great vid did you paddle up stream on your way back? would that be doable. was planning a trip soon. was gunna utilize the dispersed campgrounds along the way. planning on staring at tippy to hodenply then floating back, would that be doable? from what i seen the flow doesn’t look too bad, however i have not been on this river yet, would greatly appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for the comment! I might be able to make some recommendations for ya! I do not think that I would recommend going upstream on this one. Tippy to red bridge would be doable upstream, but going upstream from there would take a great deal of time and effort in my opinion, although probably not impossible. Check out the Manistee loop trail. Depending on your ability and interest it would be possible to drop off your boat at Hodenpyl dam, drive down to red bridge and drop off the car, and then hike back up to Hodenpyl on foot. It would take a little less then 4 hours according to the AllTrails app. Hop on your boat and do a short float to camp, then another short float back to the car the next day. This would be a good little solo mission in my opinion, if you’re willing to hike it. Last option would be to call one of the local canoe liveries and schedule a ride with them. I have never done this myself so I don’t have a price for you, but I do believe this is a service they would provide to solo paddlers!
@@BRUjank awesome man, thanks for the info!
@@BRUjank did the same float, just got back. absolutely beautiful stretch and float. did not get on too many fish but it was still worth the drive from Chicago.
Hey, really enjoyed it. Great info on all the spots you passed.
Thanks for commenting!
Great video! Thanks and liked. My locality to hunt.
Thanks!
Fun little river! 🤘🏼
One of the best!
Great shots! Adding this to my list for next spring. :)
You will love it!
It was a perfect day for this adventure. Great capture. Awesome float if obstacles don’t get you down! I’m definitely bringing some cutting tools next time to do some grooming.
Man, perfect day.. that was fun.

Is it any wonder that our Dear Lord & Savior Jesus Christ traveled many times to the top of the mountains to pray!😊
Views are pretty good up there! That’s for sure..
I have never been to Babcock state park. Thank you for permitting me to travel along with you!
You’re welcome! Thank you for your comment.
The trains have such a lonely sound; don’t you think?
I found them lovely when I was falling asleep.. but being woken up by a train whistle coming closer and closer and closer was too much for my sleepy brain to comprehend. I would jolt up awake with an adrenaline rush thinking I was going to be run over 😂
Loved the tour of the amour mines, thank you!😊
Thanks for the comment!
I enjoyed your video of My Lovely State WV. I have traveled to the bridge but you have show me the park & the road leading to the park. This has been a wonderful trip traveling with you. Thank you again! Please come back now ya hear! 😊❤
I can’t wait to come back! It’s so beautiful there.
“ Shit……. I don’t know if I can fit “. I like trips like that. I can’t count the number of times I have dropped into a creek off a bridge just to check it out. Hand saw is a must on streams like that
This was not a very kayak friendly creek, but you need an adventure every once in a while right!? Thanks for the comment!
That is a beautiful little river! I will have to paddle it. 🌲 Everybody always tries to leave "A little bit earlier." lol classic
It’s a beautiful river. Well worth the paddle if you can get out there!
Exciting finish my man! A real expedition for sure. 🤘🏼 I'm about to do a 2 nighter on the Au Sable. First time down this river. I had to squeeze in another trip this year! 🌲🌲
You are going to love it! Thanks for the comment.
I just subscribed to your channel. I make kayaking videos but my account is newer. I plan on doing my first kakay + camping adventure on this river in a couple of weeks. I can't wait.
It’s an awesome river! You will have so much fun. Good one to make a video about too!!
I've been waiting years for someone to make a video about this. Just kayaked the creek for the first time off Conelly and it was a great place to kayak. It's swampy up there so there's no trees.
A great place to kayak you say? I may have to try and check it out!
One of the best rivers ever! 💙 Great video
Could be the best ever.. I’d entertain that!! Haha thanks for your comment.
That was cool. I'm from the WMI area and never knew about this little float. It reminds of me the Little Muskegon river above Croton, but a bit more shallow.
The first bit was nice, but it turned pretty wild there. I don’t know if I would recommend it per se, but we still had fun! Thanks for watching!
This was a fun little trip, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment!
This is a fantastic video! I've often thought about doing something like this but never found the motivation. I live about 10 minutes away from where you started. The Flat River is really cool too; you might want to check it out. I haven't been out much myself, as the rivers seem to be quite shallow this year.
The Flat is a great float! Hoping to get back out there soon.
@@BRUjank Have you done the pine yet? Thats one of my favs. Fastest river in Michigan they say. The whole paddle takes 3 days.
Just did the Pine recently! It’s a lot of fun, one of my favorite rivers so far.
Nice video , subscribed
Thanks! I really appreciate that.
How did you get back to the car
For this trip we actually had to call a taxi. We got lucky that there is an actual cab company in Manistee. They were kind enough to bring their van with a trailer attached and brought our kayaks back to the car with us!
I've kayaked/camped the White River back in the day. 😎
I bet it was awesome. I am hoping to get back in it again soon.
Like this blogg of wv have u been there before
That was my first time in WV!
This is my favorite river to paddle, that is for sure! I love heading there during the weekday, so I have the whole river to myself. Next time I go out I want to paddle the whole length of the river.
This river is pure joy that is for sure.. I would love to do the whole thing as well! It gets pretty small further upstream though, is what the internet tells me anyway. That would be an adventure!
Isn’t the Pine River the river Nestle is stealing all our water from?
I guess I’m not sure of the specifics of it, but yea, they were after a bunch of our groundwater.
This was a truly informative video. Very helpful. Thanks!
Of course! Thanks for your comment.
💙 Amazing River! 💙
The best river!
Looks fantastic! 🤘
It’s always amazing! Thanks for the comments!!
All but are government included one running are michigan dnr

Looks like a great trip. My Son and i have only have red bridge to lake Michigan to do to complete the total Manistee river. Finding car shuttles are aways the tough part. can you remember who you called and how much they charged. That would be great to have someone pick us up with a trailer to get back to red bridge. Thanks
I think we called Manistee Cab Company. I am not sure if the trailer was an actual service they provide, or if they just did us a favor on this day.. The driver kind of mentioned it was something they were going to try out. it would be worth calling ahead if you are going to plan on this.. I do believe we payed a little extra and tried to leave a nice tip as well, maybe 40 or 50 bucks total. Otherwise one of the area canoe liveries would provide this service I bet.. pine river paddlesport center might be worth a call.
@@BRUjank Thanks for taking the time to reply. Adventure ON!
No doubt, you guys will have a blast! We just did the stretch out to Lake Michigan a few weeks ago!
Check with Bosman's (on the corner of 55/37) or Horina's (just to the south, on 37). I do believe both will pick up your vehicle and then "spot it" where you want to get out, when you want to get out. I do believe that both will take you (leaving your vehicle at their place) and pick you up. This summer, the wife and I rented a canoe from Bosman's, hauled it ourselves...put in at Hodenpyl and got out at Tippy Dam. We had the luxury of having a friend of ours at Coho Bend (down river...family has been there since the late 70's) that could drop us off and pick us up. Last month, we took my boat up there, put in at Loomis Landing (on Tippy) and just went out and found a spot for the weekend. The only reason we went there is because of over-night parking. The launch is...sketchy!!! Not bad for my little 16 footer though. We took out at the state launch though, across the bay...way better!
@@fermiticus4034 Thanks for the information
Learn to pronounce Kanawha like a native! (Kanaaa)
Yea, I butchered that one..
Wish you would've showed the portage at Newago. What it looks like on approach.
I think for this trip we exited the river at Henning county park. It is just a regular cement boat ramp, but it can sneak up on you if you aren’t ready for it. I will try to include approach shots in the future, that’s a good idea. 👍
What were the swimming options like? River nice enough to take a plunge? The grotto? Thanks!!
River is very swimable.. wonderful sandy bottom. Wouldn’t recommend that grotto though, water was a little stagnant and bottom was very rocky.
well you didn't have to do a bunch of paddling with that current!
Mainly just keep your boat pointed downstream! My kinda river..
Hodenpyle to Tippy is one of my favorite stretches on the Manistee. Some great camping spots.
It’s incredible 🙌
Were looking to canoe for 3 days 2 nights.. was thinking from harvey bridge to tippy dam? Is this doable with stops?
I have never actually been above the Hodenpyl dam myself, but I know the route is doable from reading online! You may consider that you would be paddling across Hodenpyl dam pond which is a larger body of water with a portage at the end. So just be prepared for a good mix of river and lake paddling on the canoe! I have paddled the tippy pond in its entirety and it took us a number of hours..
Where did you park at tippy dam?
I think for this trip we just left the car in the parking lot at the dam..
Thank you for your video. My family is from west Virginia. Been 30 years since I’ve seen these places. ❤
Thank you for your comment. West Virginia was wonderful!
Great video!
Thank you, I appreciate that.
And if that dude puts one more bag on that kayak he's going to sink
I think if a leaf had fallen off a tree and landed on the kayak I would have been swimming…
That was a very nice movie.😄
Thank you! I appreciate that comment.
First multi day trip i ever did was the white from hesperia to white lake. Still one of my favorites. Yes lots of down trees but that just makes it feel more wild.
That is what we were attempting to do here, just didn’t work out for us. I am sure we will be back, this river is a gem!
@@BRUjank i would highly suggest it. Just go into it expecting a few portages and some shoving over trees and it’ll be a great time. Good luck👍🏼
Did you find the trail challenging? I have been looking for a cool but fairly flat trail for beginners. I appreciate your video!
No it’s not challenging at all! there is some elevation change on the far north end of the island but it’s not much. thanks for the comment!
