This nonsense of treating seriously disabled as equals has got to stop, its gonna get them hurt for real. I saw vid of a disabled kid "wrestling" and it was heartbreaking bc you knew the other kid was just playing along. Whats even worse is the effect it has on the other person asked to go along, and I KNOW bc I was asked when I wrestled in HS to wrestle a kid who was mentally disabled, but extremely strong. I was told to go out there an wrestle him, not go easy and I did what I was told to do - treat him as an equal. Yes, I won but felt like crap afterwards especially looking over to his mother condoling him!!! STOP ENCOURAGING THIS, its abusive.
What this guy can do, Dave Porter, though, is not rely on people's pity to get a degree he doesn't deserve. Seriously, would you call someone sitting in front of a piano, making silly faces and not actually playing anything a pianist just because they love piano music? Even if it is not their fault... No, you would not. And if they loved piano music so much, they would contribute to it in a way that requires them to put effort, not to rely on people's pity - like, for example, studying music theory and writing piano music. The same with the clown in the video - if he loved karate so much, instead of mocking it like this, he could contribute to it in some meaningful way - like writing a book on it, writing a film script, doing some scientific research on its history, etc. But people's pity wouldn't do his job for him if he decided to do something like that.
M7xR55 tl; dr. I am a musician and a composer, by the way. And I have spent a few years in practicing martial arts. Because I am not like the clown in the video, when I hurt my leg and could not continue practicing in the way that earned me the respect of the people I trained with, I stopped. I didn't demand them to continue giving me degrees out of pity.
+Tigermaster1986 ....Well I guess that is where "Karate-Spud" Dave rises the ocassion. I guess you just didn't have what it take to Dave's level of complete Zen.
The passion he has is admirable but c'mon let's face reality, he wouldn't do shit in a real life fight and when the demonstration part came, it was really hard to watch.
I watched this a second time, because i wanted to look at his movements again. I state the obvious when I say he cannot perform the motions as they are, but his puts his physical self into the closest possible likeness. How brave, I wonder, to get out and to that. That bravery is a mental blackbelt in itself. This is indeed the most authentic form of Karate I can perceive. It isn't about getting it perfectly right, it's about trying your damned hardest to get as close as possible to it and to show yourself what you are capable of.
Exactly! This is thee most PATHETIC event of PC bullshit to ever take place. This man is now fooled into believing he could fend off somebody. Being a "black belt" tell, us what could this guy fend off??? This is preposterous, and humiliating to even watch.
DRONE CO Why should we care? He probably knows he can't beat someone up (I hope). Just let the guy have fun. Also his a brown belt If you want to see when PC goes to far look up "MMA fighters with no legs or arms." That is humiliating for him and the other fighter.
i respect his compassion and dedication to karate but i deep down inside we all know what the truth is ... if you were there you would applause not for amazement but for sympathy
If this is how they promote their dojo with inclusiveness and anyone can get a blackbelt if you pay enough money then this dojo needs to be put to the real test and enter a proper tournament
Brown belt here. I understand where the mixed opinions are coming from, but this is what I think : its about the art. He won't be able to do actual combat, thats true. Which is why these are special conditions. But he IS doing the right movements, with the appropriate precision. That's what they're applauding. I'm sure this guy knows his limitations.
Yeah I agree, I’m shocked how many people think he doesn’t perceive his limitations. The demonstration though had me reflecting on my Karate experience. I went to one of those “inclusive pay for a belt” schools when I was a kid. However my mom would often take me to this dojo in the city and that place was intimidating. Breaking stacks of boards and full contact ring sparring was normal there. I was just a yellow belt but I realized how much I didn’t understand Karate at all, or the purpose behind any of it. I got beat up almost every time I went lol. There is so much more to martial arts than being a warrior but I felt the demonstration was too much here.
@@ThePhukst1k It gets me that people think he has any delusions about his limitations. The guy has to live with them everyday, he has had to push through them and learn to adapt... and people think he is oblivious? Plenty of able bodied people fantasize about doing martial arts and never get to a dojo. I have people telling me all about martial arts when they have never done them (or done very little). I've known fit, strong, able people quit because they can't figure out how to do kata... This guy does what he can. He has spirit. The demo was just a demo, everyone over does them.
@Toro Sentado lol, nope. It depends on the person who training karate, if the person is just going to appase his parents and not learning anything, it's the person's fault his money is going no where not the dojo's
Well, I guess he paid an arm and a leg for that black belt... twice. (Is it black, though? It looks dark brown to me at certain moments.) Seriously, this is a disgrace. What if you saw him sitting before a piano and making silly faces? Would you think he was a pianist? As I said under a different video featuring this guy, I have nothing but respect for people who overcome their disabilities to achieve what they want, but this guy overcame nothing. He only relied on people's pity to get a piece of clothing that only works as a symbol of abilities he doesn't have and can never have. Why would I respect that? It is degrading to him, and it is downright insulting to the martial art he is supposed to love. Flopping around like an angry sack of potatoes is not karate. If he loved the martial art so much, he could, for example, research it carefully and write a book on it - that I would respect. Alas, for doing this he would actually need to put some effort rather than just get what he wants from people who pity him.
Why did u take this whole time to express ur feelings about how much u hate his effort's when all you are doing is sitting in ur room writing nasty comments. All he is doing is trying a sport he loves. If u were handicapped and had exact disability as him and had the same body structure, he would whip ur ass. And I get it, he wouldn't beat anyone if he had to fight in real life but it's also a sporting competition which he can atleast try and do impressive moves for someone without arms and legs. Ur comments aren't appreciated and imagine u were that guy reading this, seeing all the people who are being nasty like u. It wasnt his falt he was born with a disability, he never chose to have no legs or arms. At least he is doing something with his life and all u could do is respect that.

Despite his physical limitations, the way he was able to preform moves similar to the girls and match with them was impressive. Respect to this man for his passion and work.
That karate is worthless, giving people a false sense of security isn't kool. You people need to stop making fools of people with disabilities just to feel good about yourselves.
At first I thought this would be unfair three women against one handicapped man. But I was wrong. they should have challenged him to a sandwich making contest
I trained with a guy named Dax Cowart years ago ,his name was Dax Cowart from Henderson Texas he was severely burned lost his hands and eyes not to mention how bad the rest of his body was he was truly an inspiration to me his training gave him purpose and drive kudos to this guy
I think it was pretty good. Karate has several modalities, one of them is more about the artistic aspect or the attitude while performing, and not real combat. I think he did pretty well in this scenario. There are obvious limitations but having these and still performing like this is a bonus imo
Imagine if the powerlifting para divison would declare someone the new record holder while the spotters would move the weight up and down in bench pressing lets say. This makes exactley as much sense as this guy pretending to be able to do karate.
I laughed, I'm going to hell, I'm ok with it. BUT, I asked myself: would I be able to do something similar if I were in his shoes and I truly wanted to? I'm nowhere close to have that amount of willpower.
There are so many hate comments and it is honestly a disgrace and it does not show the true development in themselves. Martial arts is ART, it is to be interpreted differently and so he has developed a style that works for him, it’s not always about the fight , it is about keeping tradition and growing in spirit. I may not know much about karate but I have been practising taekwondo for over 10 years and I can say that much perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit will take him very far, I commend this guy and honestly think he is a legend
I think you're naive and unrealistic. A legend for what? We don't even know how much effort he has put into what he does. Are you serious.... you really think "he is a legend?" Damn.

Bueno, es solo ejercicio. No es que la gente que practique karate se pase el día peleando. La mayoría no pelearán en su vida fuera del gimnasio y las peleas de entrenamiento tienen más de ejercicio que de batalla.
He could learn from an experience like that. Not to be mean but if he can’t defend himself against bullying it might burst his delusional bubble of karate hopes. It’s not realistic and the sooner he realizes that the better.

Yeah. That whole thing was so fake and embarrassing. He needs to do something he can really excel at so he can have a genuine sense of accomplishment. He's living a lie and others are promoting that lie.
Don't you see? He has an unbreakable defense... he is so low to the ground that all of their attacks fly clear over his head.

If he had a normal body I’ll promise you he’d whoop your ass.
This is not about or against the man with no extremities. It's how people made him believe in false self esteem. No matter what this isn't going to work for him. It is like a blind person competing in a sniper course in the military. It's just not going to work. As some say, not everyone should receive a trophy. This isn't for him. Only to put him in a more dangerously situation believing he can defend himself. I'm sorry
He should try singing.
That’s what I’m thinking. It’s just wrong as hell 🤦🏻
This guy's firece AF, no one was harmed in the making of this video 😂
I have the upmost respect for this guy but this is like telling him he can cycle when he is clearly incapable.
Lying doesn't show compassion.
I think you’re viewing it in the wrong way. If you’re getting at the fact that he couldn’t actually kick their asses, then nobody should do performative kata in front of an audience, because that’s also ‘lying’, it’s not a real fight, nor does it really resemble one.
So if that’s not it, what is it? If he can cycle with some tweaking of the bike or pedals, then whats wrong with telling him he can cycle, they’re not lying? I doubt this guys under any illusion hes gonna be a ufc fighter. Are you trying to say he’s not allowed to learn because of his physical limitations? By the same logic human beings shouldn’t swim because they can’t breathe underwater.
@@foxcks One doesn't have to be able to breathe underwater to swim. In fact, one of the whole points of swimming is due to the fact that we can't breathe underwater.
@@billsmith7673 right. Maybe a better example would be ‘humans shouldn’t dive because we can’t breathe underwater’. However, I noticed you didn’t refute anything else I said, because it’s logical, is a good argument, and all you’re wanting to do is be an ableist asshole on the internet.
@@foxcks Damn, dude, you are so wrong, I didn't try to refute anything else because I didn't necessarily disagree and was thinking open-mindedly about it.

M7xR55
tl; dr.
Just because he can't, means he shouldn't.
The passion he has is admirable but c'mon let's face reality, he wouldn't do shit in a real life fight and when the demonstration part came, it was really hard to watch.
i think it's safe to say that if he challenges you or you challenge him to a fight you'll win.
I wanna see him do a push up then I’ll be impressed
In his place, would you put up with this?
@@kaigsuma3362idk 🤔
I watched this a second time, because i wanted to look at his movements again. I state the obvious when I say he cannot perform the motions as they are, but his puts his physical self into the closest possible likeness. How brave, I wonder, to get out and to that. That bravery is a mental blackbelt in itself. This is indeed the most authentic form of Karate I can perceive. It isn't about getting it perfectly right, it's about trying your damned hardest to get as close as possible to it and to show yourself what you are capable of.
Plus... He's coordinated with
the others. Time perfect and he has very big complication. So: he gained my respect. Good Job.
If you listen closely, you can hear the extra chromosome.

i respect his compassion and dedication to karate but i deep down inside we all know what the truth is ... if you were there you would applause not for amazement but for sympathy
No
I would be embarrassed
If this is how they promote their dojo with inclusiveness and anyone can get a blackbelt if you pay enough money then this dojo needs to be put to the real test and enter a proper tournament
I applaud your honesty and realism.
The emperor has no clothes. This guy is a great representation of the current political state.

Guys chill, just let him do his karate.
Well, I guess he paid an arm and a leg for that black belt... twice. (Is it black, though? It looks dark brown to me at certain moments.)
Seriously, this is a disgrace.
Tigermaster1986
'Write' a book... I see what you did there
Bugsy Malone
Well, he could, actually. He could use some sound to word software converter or dictate his thoughts to someone to write them down.

Giving this guy a black belt just gives him a false sense if accomploshment.
Black belts are earned noy bought
Totally agree. It is so patronizing and demeaning. Nobody really thinks he's good at karate. Nobody would ever pay to see him. Everybody pities him. They're thinking "We have to clap for this disabled guy." He needs to be a computer programmer or do something academic where he might really be able to excel and have a genuine sense of accomplishment.
