Gott say I'm pretty jelly of that awning. I have to setup a ridgeline & tarp to stay dry. Hard to regulate or get even heat over a fire but the steak still looked delicious. Looking forward to seeing your next trip!
We had a little tarp awning for a while as well, it was nice for sprinkles or getting some shade but was pretty awful in serious rain or snow. Thank you! It was a pretty good steak 😄
I dig what your doing and what your about.. your obviously new to this but learning and that is awesome!! Keep on Keeping on!! and the next time your in the Ochoco National Forest check out the Mauri unit it's absolutely stunning at the top!
I just came across your channel, and am really digging it. I live on the Washington coast, but the best dispersed camping/over landing nearest to me is in Oregon. I’m always looking for a quick trip. Keep up the good work, and congrats on getting married.
You’ll get a much better crust and color if you cook the steak separate from the potatoes. The potatoes are essentially steaming the meat instead of searing it. Get that pan super hot and then pat the steak dry with a paper towel before you slap it in the pan. Take the steak out a bit before it’s done, then cook the potatoes while the steak is resting and still heating to the final temp.
@@ScaleofTwo they were purchased by a bigger distributor in 2020. But I just saw an article that they were expanding distribution to oregon, Washington, and California this year! It’s on every shelf in GA like Tillamook cheese is in Oregon!
Hey Tanner! The Oregon coast is tricky when it comes to dispersed camping. Not a lot, unless you go a bit inland. If you haven't seen this video: th-cam.com/video/ZWer_Vom9WM/w-d-xo.html, I'd definitely recommend starting there. If you're not looking to venture too far off the coast, paid campgrounds may be your best bet. But there is definitely areas to be discovered!
Ditto above - I've visited the OR Coast for 20 years & dispersed camping isn't easy to find. You definitely usually need to come substantially inland into the Coast range in most cases. I usually don't even go unless I have a confirmed spot or know of an area, it's just not as easy as the Cascades.
Man that place looks epic! And the food is delicious! You'll have to check out my homemade truck camper me and my pup travel out of on my channel! Keep up with the awesome content!
What the WHAT? That awning! So rad.
It’s very nice for the weather!
Definitely Pacific NW Coastal Camping. While I'm typically a ground tenter, it's nearly impossible in the Coastal range except for mid-late summer
Love camping on a rainy day in the coast range, sitting under the awning and drinking a beer!
nate
Super peaceful, especially with the nice creek in the background.
Oregon is a favorite! Didn’t get to explore it too much last summer because of the wildfires but still loved the coast
Bummer. You’ll have to come back and see the cascades for sure!
@@ScaleofTwo yes! Definitely!

Ok...now I want a steak!
🥩 get it goin!
FYI, water levels drop considerably during summer.
Nice little spot there at the river! Looks like fun, that awning looks like a game changer in the rain too!
It’s amazing! That was the first time using it in anything heavier than a sprinkle, super happy with it.
You should get a rain setup, like battery and electric stoves.
An electric stove would be great

Definitely need to explore more of Ochoco!
The steak looked just right. Congratulations to you and Kim.
Thanks Robert!

appreciate the kind words, David! Northwest Oregon is not a bad spot to be near 😄

Never thought about that, good to know. I always cook a bunch of things at once in my cast iron 😂
@@ScaleofTwo the drier the meat the better the “malliard reaction” and the steam won’t cook the middle of the steak
I didn’t see any complaints from Cooper about how well the steak was cooked 👍
Ha, he’s not too picky when it comes to steak!
Might check out Belmont station over on stark for beers like that, also John's market over on sw multnomah Blvd as well
John’s marketplace is amazing
“I’m just gonna pull ma steak outta here and let it rest” 🤔😂😂
😂😂😂 ya gotta let it rest
Watching a steak get cooked over a fire is so entertaining....and I don't know why. I blame my lizard brain. 🤣
Congrats and enjoy Mexico!
Absolutely agree. And thank you! We’re pretty scatter brained over here from wedding planning, but definitely looking forward to Mexico.
Sweet water in Atlanta GA! Do their tour if you're ever in the area!
Did they get bought out by a bigger company? I feel like I’ve never seen their beer on the west coast.

I know! I use to drink it so much, it was a very nostalgic experience to see it in a store in Oregon.
@@kevinzhang7275 Good to know, I'll keep an eye out
awesome camp spot, new sub here
Howdy! It was a great spot indeed!
What is the name of your prison plates , they look awesome for camping . I’d love to get me a set
What plates? Haha. If you’re talking about the dinner plates I believe they are GSI!
Doing a big coast trip this month, any recommendations on dispersed spots along the coast?
