I build the headboards bottom 4” below the top of the mattress. Overall height varies, but I will typically frame mount up to 30” above mattress, then wall mount above that. Thanks Dawn
@@MarksUpholstery I have a very heavy wood headboard (used to attached with side rails and footboard which I just ditched) so how would you securely attach the frame? with just wood screws? the existing metal is useless as it doesn't line up with the frame slots?

Why did you put the board under the headboard before drilling?
So the bed can be moved without dragging the headboard
