    I am glad that the black surface of these Spendors came out so well! I was afraid that the filler would mark the spots of the old screws more, but that´s not the case. Looks nice really nice!

      These ended up looking and sounding fantastic. I sold them to a lovely guy who really enjoys them. Funny, they sold for more than a actual pair of BC1

    Though I am used to seeing always these boring black Backsides of speaker cabinets, I must say, this light wood color in Birch? I think it´s called birch in English, is really really pretty! I love it! It looks noble. Really noble, compared to the ones I am used to. My big JBL Clones have no black backs either. Not birch, but I painted them in a light grey lacquer. This matches the creme-colored vegan Leather I applied to the Cabin - sides and top. Given the monstrous size of these Speakers, I am afraid to say: They look pretty boring in cream. But when planning and designing them on my PC, it didn´t look that bad. But in nature, due to the size, it´s overwhelming. lol... But now it´s too late. The speakers weigh about 150 lbs each, so I let them be in cream. Would I do it again? NOPE! I would take some Mahagony or walnut.
    My JBL Barons I am working on now will get a rosewood surface, and a grill in cream fabric. Maybe on the Front AND on the Back! Why? Because I plan to integrate them into a free-standing Turntable Console. With integrated Amp, Bluetooth, and the Turntable will be an original Lenco L 236 NOS that I almost stole! Almost. I did buy it actually, but so cheap, that you could speak about fraud lol...But the vendor did not ask for more, and I wanted a really excellent Fully automatic TT, so it was a done deal for me. And, that said, I would have paid 100€ more for it, and would still be happy...lol

    Hi Can you tell me which oil brand and type you use on these cabinets please? I am currently refurbishing my BC1 speakers and need to do exactly what you have done to my cabinets. Thanks

      Danish oil. Sanded with 240 grit

    Very nice, I am interested to know how you made the tweeter hole wider?
    Also any tips on how you would make a rebated hole bigger, I have a set of Castle Howard S1's and I need to replace the pincushion type drivers with round ones and thus need to make the rebated hole circular instead of squared with rounded edges.
    I have so many speakers that I have plans to do what you are doing to them, a wonderful set of Mission 700's that have just got the great Monacor sph210 and some Vifa/peerless Dg19's, I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the crossover network though, maybe I should send you an email.
    Please keep up the cracking work, it's fantastically inspiring.

    Great job and just about to try restoring my cabinets. Any tips on how to start and finish?? I like your handheld sander!

      Don't use anything more course than 240grit. Ideally use an random orbital sander. Be very careful when sanding the corners and edges. Don't be tempted to roll round the corners. It's easy to go through the veneer. I normally finish these with Danish oil. Good luck

    Which SP number is it from the B200 variants? I maybe like to do something like this on a pair of Ditton 15’s, replacing the baffle. Celestions becoming Spendors…

    Dear Sir , I really appreciate your work, I would like to ask you for your opinion about the tolerance of the condenser.Does it make a difference if the crossover capacitor is 5% tolerance or more, and which is better?

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the message. Capacitors typically should be within 5%. 10% at a maximum. If there that far out then there are likely to be other issues with them to like ESR.

      Thanks for the answer, sir, but when I buy new ones, would you rather choose 5% or 10%?@@haycrossaudio5474

    Do you know anyone with a 3D printer for the tweeter bezel?

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been looking into casing new ones by using one of the originals as a pattern

      @@haycrossaudio5474 Good idea, I just thought 3D printing might be an easier route if you know someone with that kit....Good luck!
