Question! rebuilt top end no spark now? the coil is good don't know about power before coil? stator looked like new. what could it be do you have an idea? HELP!
It could be so many things. I would check for power at the coil first. If there is power then you need to check all wiring connections. (Check the connector that plugs into the stator) Possibly a bent pin or corrosion ?)
@@SeadooRefurb when you hook up the yellow and blk and yellow wires you should get a reading of some sort from the stator shouldn't you??? The wires going into the front of the motor with the grey connector where the plug grounding posts are.
I had a 2005 sportster and sold it and wish I had not. Now the prices have more than doubled. It was an awesome boat. I am looking forward to taking this one out !
Got my two engines working decently now! My fuel gauge doesnt work and was considering replacing the baffle or fixing it. The only problem is that it is right underneath the mpem electrical box on these boats. Is there any harm in unscrewing the electrical box from the boat and letting it sit on the head of the motor so I can get the baffle out? Thanks!!
Great video! Very nice to see methodical troubleshooting and repair. My new to me 95 speedster has one engine that hardly smokes at all, while the other engine smokes a ton and litters my lawn with oil...everywhere. I was thinking of doing a carb adjustment on the bad engine. Is there anything else you would recommend doing? None of my gauges work either but its a 95. Thanks again for the video!
These are so hard to diagnose without seeing them in person. Dumping oil is a sign of worn crank seals. You could also check the oil pump to be sure it is set correctly but unlikely that is the issue.
@@SeadooRefurb thank you so much for your reply. I think the oil is just coming out of the exhaust but it makes a pretty good mess on the lawn and gate mechanism. the engine sat for 3 years.
@@jasonfair5160 I bet he’s right. When the rotary gear seals go out, they leak oil into the cylinders. Sitting for 3 years definitely could’ve hardened them up to the point they allow that much oil by. Good luck with the boat!
G'day I have a 1998 speedster and I'm having a issue with it turning over . When I put the Dess on the pole it beeps twice as it should but when I push the start button it beeps 4 times and the engines don't turn over . I've checked all over the net and can't find the code for the 4 beeps I'm hoping you can help many thanks
4 Beeps means that the shifter is in gear. If you are not in neutral then it will not start. If the selector is in neutral and still 4 beeps then you have a bad neutral switch or bad connection to the switch.
I found a 96 for sale local to me for 2500 that neither engine starts, but I am a full time veteran auto tech. Do you think it's worth the buy or without knowing anything on either jet pump it's not worth the risk?
If you are in Canada the boat running is worth about 6,000.00 if interior is good. Engine parts could be as much as 2k each if the cases are toast. Try and get it for a little as possible.

@@SeadooRefurb I am having issues with the fuel gauge and also need to replace both of the impellers due to cavitation. @@rottengloryYT Oil light comes on at half a tank on a lot of the older machines. Nothing to worry about. Fuel gauge issue is either the small fuse in the fuel baffle or the sliding float has fallen off or is water logged. (Both are easy fixes.) I am also guessing that the baffle has a crack in it or is broken so you need more fuel as the baffle tube does not reach all the way to the bottom of the tank. You can buy the replacement baffles on ebay so no worries there. (repair video here : th-cam.com/video/UntxmG_VSTM/w-d-xo.html ) As for the drives. Yes..some have been installed with silicone. This is assuming you are removing the correct part and not the plastic housing which remains on the boat that the drives bolt to.

A lot of the dealers don't work on them any more. They say the parts are discontinued and not available. I would guess that a rebuild from a dealer would be about 3k plus any removal and re install.
You ever think about becoming a butcher? The way you split that case and tossed that crank around while it was still attached to the other case half, one might think that you were the previous boat owner / mechanic. You blew my mind watching you hammer on that piston pin. Save yourself and your viewers a lot of pain and wasted time by just buying a rebuild. Video the installation, the clean up, and then call it a day. In the future if you’re interested, the rotary valve, shaft, and gear can be removed without splitting the case.
If I did not remove the crank then I would not be able to properly inspect the brass gear on the crank. Usually with that type of damage the brass gear is forced to the pto side of the crank and jammed into the oil seal. It was actually shifted but only about 1mm.
Oy. So much shade tree mechanic going on here. First, get a piston pin puller. It will save you getting cranks rebuilt unnecessarily from bent rods and damaged lower rod bearings. Second, don’t use impact guns on flywheel pullers, it will save you from getting more unnecessary crank rebuilds from knocking the crank out of true/index. Third, don’t criticize others work, when it’s on par with what Everyone just watched you do.
I am loving this one. Just waiting on parts. I received the starter and the new throttle cable. Now I need the engine cases and the gaskets and we are good to go.
awesome video.... I have a 96 speedster and love it they are well built fun little boats but they didn't build these things "fixable friendly" by any means you have to twist fold and bend your body to get into that engine compartment and being 6'4" tall and 260 lbs makes it even harder lol
