Oliveira, in my opinion, gave us more excitement this tournament than any other SCII tournament in history. Most of the time, he's not as stable as Maru, as aggressive as Hero, or as precise as Clem/Serral. But this tournament, he came in with all of those attributes together. There will be amazing games in the future, but as far as series go, it'll be hard to top this.
I gotta be real with you bro, Clem is not precise in TvT in any way. I see him blow leads trying to break defensive positions a lot. Clem is great in TvZ and TvP because honestly, those matchups take less knowledge, and his mechanics can steamroll lesser players.
@@geordiehalma7323 I agree, but I'm not referring to TvT. I mean his mechanical prowess and precision specifically against non-terran matchups, which are most of his games. He and Serral play with really careful micromanagement even if their strategies sometimes aren't as perfect, which is why I mentioned them together. Time usually isn't like that, but this series he was god-tier.
I watched that game live as a huge Clem fan. Utterly devastated how he didn't win that one. Such a rare treat to be happy to switch sides and rout for the other guy by the end of the tournament!
Surprised at 12:43 oliveira didn't just drop behind the mineral line and hold position. Can easily pick off SCVs without getting in range of the planetary.

The Oliveira story has been so fuckin amazing. It's literally an anime unfolding before our eyes loool. Thanks real life anime protags for working so hard to entertain my gold league ass
Indeed! The absolutely unexpected peoples hero. Won our respect with his grit and determination, and our hearts with those emotions he expressed on that stage after winning.
Not quite, he is down so much on army supply with Oli at his side of the map. Not to mention his production is at the front. He is going to have to pull some miracle in the next 30 seconds to not lose the game. Or Oli has to make some stupidest mistake like sending his army back home for Clem to comeback.
Well, there is no easy way for Oliveira to kill Clem there. But you have to understand that this fight at the very least evens out the economy but Clem has a much inferior army composition with lower tank count and no air support. So the only reason he was ahead in this game is because he kept up the tempo and confined the economy of Oliveira. Winning from this point for Clem against a 5 base Oliveira with a better army is not impossible but a grueling task that Clem probably didnt want to drain himself on, on the first game of the first day. Its a "go next" gg to preserve energy.
He was behind massively in army. Oliveira double the army and he's at Clem's front door after that fight, so he'll set up his tanks to seige Clems production which is also in the front. Once Oliveira reinforcements get to his base it's over.
Oliveira was like Rocky Balboa in this match, took huge beatings throughout the game but kept on fighting, was behind on the scorecard the whole time, then he lands vicious blows that finish his opponent off in the end.
The strength of the commander, is not in the speed of his infantry, nor the strength of his cavalry, but the resolve of his heart. The grit to charge out at the right flank knowing a surround was coming from the northwest and southwest, and then sending his ravens to kamikaze matrix those tanks - that smells like a real deal. You could almost hear the Siege Tanks yelling in the last encounter: - HOLD! HOLD THAT LINE OLIVEIRANS! HOLD ON FOR LIFE'S SAKE!
I actually watched this game live because I really like Clem and TvT is one of my favorite matchups. I was upset with the result. Then I fell in love with olivera after the group stage was over making the run eventually to the championship. When they interviewed olivera and he said he was training with Maru it was like wow ok
haha seeing it in the perspective of what went down later you realise that maybe playing Oliveira in his very first match was a bit of a confidence killer for Clem. He, like the rest of us didn't realise that 4 days later Oliveira would be holding up the trophy after eliminating all the best players in the world
Terrans: complaining that you can lose your army in a few seconds of not paying attention vs p and z Meanwhile, loses entire army in a few seconds vs T while actively paying attention and having a 360 surround with a larger army
Bloody Brilliant game mate!!! LOL! Seriously though, i normally get bored watching TvT but this was a decent game. I'm one to root for the underdog but I just feel like in this game, Clem just did a lot better. He had more bases had more everything. I think he gave up way to quickly.... though I can totally understand his reasoning for it especially in the heat of the moment when your 3 pronged attacked fails into a 1 prong choke-point and everything dies. Rough. GG to Olivera though! Maybe we have a new upcoming name in SC2 to keep an eye on! :)
to add on a little bit to your analysis of that last fight: because Clem focused down all the Ravens with the Marines, they spent a lot of time engaging something that already had gotten everything they possibly could done in this fight, so they're already sort of dead weight. the Marines aren't attacking the tanks to even out the losses some, in that situation where all of your Tanks are already debuffed and the Ravens are pretty low on energy, i would say its very slightly better to engage Oliveira's tanks instead of focusing down the Ravens. just goes to show that sometimes focusing down the more expensive tech units may not necessarily be the best call to make. this is not to take away from Oliveira's excellent engagement, he did everything 100% right in that situation and just barely did it with extremely tight precision. at best if Clem *did* focus the tanks down, i think Oliveira would have still won that engagement. just maybe not win it so hard that it swings the game around.
This achieves to prove that air domination is crucial in tanks play. Strongly believe that libs with range would have packed up the game faster. I don't know why olivera stopped doing those
yeah lib range with viking advantage is so nice for pushing locations. I think Oliveira was just too poor to afford it earlier. I always prefer the libs cos I reckon they're easier to use in my games, but those ravens paid off big at the end!
Auto Turrets suck after they were nerfed. I want Blizzard to return them to their Wings of Liberty stats, and GIVE US BACK THE Seeker missile. they should have never removed that. THe only reason they did is because too many crybabies had to actually micro their units to avoid damage.
No. I've only ever seen Clem 'eliminate Serral and/or Reynor' once in any major tournament finals [Clem v Serral, Katowice 2021, R12, 4:3] He's definitely NOT the best Terran at beating those players.. The man who has dispatched both of those players, in major tournament finals, multiple times... his name rhymes with: "Maru". 😘👌🏼
He beats them very regularly in the EU regionals. Clem has been dominant within EU over the last 3 years. But he tends to go down at the big premier events to Korean Terran and Protoss players before he gets a chance to face them
@@popkhorne5372 Serral, yes, but Maru pulled back a little bit in 2021. Reynor, no, Maru actually becoming one of his "nemesis" when they play in big tournament.

Bloody Brilliant wouldn't you say? Reminds me of our old games. 🤘🤠🤘
Well, had thought you were an old friend of mine with the same name. Cheers Mate.

Similar experience for me. Was cool to realise the context after the 4-1 vs maru at the end of the event
The first match I saw Oli play was against Reynor, its cool to go back and re-examine these earlier games.
That was beautiful. Oliviera trancended to Starcraft Nirvana
Awesome grit & perseverance plus the usual unexpected factors' potential is what helps make the game stay unique, fun & fresh.
Didn't catch this one, thanks for sharing this amazing game.
Daaaamn that was so sick. Between this game, Maru vs Byun and Spirit vs Cure, we really got the sickest TvTs ever at this year's Katowice

I think the main issue was, that clem did not have any Air units out.
So much of the game is mental, it’s soooo true.
omg, the whole match Oliveira was hanging on his armpit hair but he came back in TIME to win!!!
This game was insane 😮
