All songs were created from either fully arranged or partially complete instrumental musical demos of William J Tsamis, with the exception of “Behold A Pale Horse” & “Revelation XIX” which were originally written and recorded in full (that being all words and music) by William J Tsamis and were released on his ‘Lordian Guard' 1995 and 1997 releases.
All other lyrics and vocal melodies by Giles Lavery, except “The Bell Tolls” Lyrics by Jon Wilde and Giles Lavery and "The Watchman" lyrics and vocal melody by Steve Blaze of Lillian Axe.

With »Free Spirit Soar«, a brand new studio album by Warlord with all songs having been recorded between March and September 2023, it’s Drummer Mark Zonder and singer Giles Lavery paying tribute to the musical heritage of Bill Tsamis. They are joined by Jimmy Waldo on keyboards/synthesizer, Phillip Bynoe on bass and Eric Juris on guitars. “We wanted to finish these pieces of music ‘for Bill’,” explains Lavery, “and the material we felt was certainly strong enough to inspire us to do so.” Regarding the guitar parts he specifies: “Bill is there where we could pull his tracks off the demo recordings, in much the same way the Beatles were recently able to rescue John Lennon’s voice from an old demo tape. Eric does most of the heavy lifting on guitar, but all music was written by Bill and we stayed very very faithful to what he wrote.”
All in all, Giles Lavery is very satisfied with how »Free Spirit Soar« turned out: “It was a bit of an uncharted adventure delving into Bill’s demos and unfinished music, and also having to write lyrics and vocal melodies to the songs - the only two exceptions being the two Lordian Guard songs that we selected to ‘Warlord-ize’ …as has been tradition on every Warlord album since »Rising Out Of The Ashes«. Everything but two songs have vocals for the first time, so that entire area of the composition is new … As for the music, I think much of it is unheard, a few bits and pieces you might recognize from some of the catalogue reissues, instrumental bonus tracks etc. As producer of the album it was my job to sort through all the pieces and pull together songs.”

Good songs, BUT why did they put a re-recording of the Lordian Guard song 'Behold a Pale Horse' in the beginning of the album which sounds almost the same as the original song? They could have put this as a 'bonus' at the end of the album, but not as the first song.
Just can't express how thankful I am to be alive and have the possibility to listen to this record after the long time since The Holy Empire. THIS is not just Heavy Metal, it's so much more than just music...it's spirit, it's emotion, it's the heart and the source of Epic Heavy Metal. Even on this new record you can understand where the influence for HammerFall and While Heaven Wept came from: it's Bill Tsamis' Warlord and Lordian Guard. This record...this music is perfect. I would not change anything! This band deserves much more praise...and above all Giles Lavery is the best singer this band ever had. He's incredible. Thank you WARLORD!!!
Really cool to see Behold a Pale Horse and Revelation XIX presented in a different way. Those two were always my favourite Lordian Guard tracks. Epic as always.
Absolut unbekannt für mich, aber schon nach den ersten Tönen konnte ich mich nicht mehr abwenden vom Album. Es macht einen "hymnischen" Eindruck, wie "Quarton" (Bathory) ihn favorisierte, man kann die Stimmung schwer beschreiben, es hat etwas von den achtziger Jahren.
Like Lordian Guard...this comes straight from heaven...created by the gods!

Very good album and true to Tsamis' spirit, but the vocals don't fit, at least at the two Lady Vidonne's songs. Also, "Worms Of The Earth" & "For Whom The Bell Tolls" should have stayed instrumentals. Very professional and very boring. A lot of bands have had it all before.

@@goonerross4834 I have my reservations. I saw them live at Chania years ago with Leptos singing and Giles was with them just to sing a verse for Child of the Damned. It was like he was attached to the band for fear of being left out. And now with him being the producer I have a feeling that Giles was desperate to stay with the band. Just a feeling though, I may be 1000% wrong

Bill is on this record. Giles is on the last record. This is an extremely high level tribute to the brilliance of Bill Tsamis, in the same way that Riot V is a brilliant tribute to Mark Reale.
@@alexzoris7216 maybe their calenders didn't match up, Giles is from the other side of the world....and even if Bill didn't want him asthe singer.....the job he did live was awesome....and I'm more than happy to sing here.....as a Greek/Australian....I like that there is an Australian/NZ connection to the band
