Guide still works but is even more of a pain now. You’re gonna have to attempt it a few times because this strat is like 87% luck/rng. I’m currently working on an update that doesn’t really rely on rng.
I can confirm this still works but is pretty RNG based. I have a few tips from my half a dozen attempts: 1) build 1 civilian factory first thing. This brings you up to 8, allowing you to pick up the psychological warfare upgrade for your spies pretty early. Every little bit helps. And it felt immediately more consistent since I started doing that 2) Greece seems now the most stubborn one, at least in my experience. After the Hungary trick I put my spies on them and leave them there. I get the illusive gentleman 2nd instead of the Marxist philosopher, just so I can get started with Romania earlier while keeping the first 2 on Greece. Also, I stop boosting ideology pretty early, the main problem seems to be stability instead of communism support. 3) turkey still flips pretty often if they have high communism before the February 1939 election. Sometimes I put my third and fourth spy there for a bit before Romania becomes a kingdom.
It is not because of the 1939 election It is because Turkey finishes a focus which gives them 120 political power. At high ideology support, most AI countries flip immediately if they have 100 political power. But due to other debuffs and you destabilized them to 0% stability, they almost never have enough political power to flip.

@thetibbiesshow Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I'm trying again but wondering if I should use spies this time to do a coup. It's weird because in a previous game they flipped easily and I even got Romania despite their having gone fascist. I screwed it up by denying Italy Dalmatia and they declared on me despite the NAP. Just ended up in a stalemate since I wasn't ready and Germany never did Barbarossa.
Actually, in case your country can't ever create a faction, you can alwasy try to jack one, such as the Chinese United Front :)) I also think if you mass deploy order 66 divisions (single battalion) Italy will always submit to your demands (I think division count is key, but could alwasy improve some relation).
Didn't see the "Is a faction leader" requirement: I was still war with the Axis (Germany was the only one left, Italy was my puppet via the civil war event). Halted all my attacks, moved troops away from the USSR and let them ruin their manpower, AI USSR is stupid. While the Soviets were losing their manpower, I built up my army and industry. I annexed Italy and shortly after got the option to take over the Comintern. Then Germany fell in less than a month 😄 United Balkan Federation is pretty op. So this achievement can be done also by joining the Comintern. It just might take little longer. The takeover faction can seem impossible at first sight (mine was to have 5 mil. deployed manpower and 400 factories). But when you don't help the Soviets, they will find a way to hurt themselves quickly. It took about year and a half when they had lost enough territory and men (and vice-versa for me to build up there) so that I could take over the faction. All in all a really fun game.
@@thetibbiesshow Well I just wanted to get the achievement and thought "Why quit when it had already taken like three hours to get here, one or max two hours more cant be so bad". 😁 Btw, you should try the Holy, Roman and an Empire achievement. I had to restart once to get it, because of a stupid event where Bulgaria gets Central Macedonia. My tactic was just to rush Yugoslavia to become my puppet via the decision and then justify against Bulgaria. Then just get Spain via the focus tree, join the Axis and beat the allies. You can attack Vichy France and Turkey with no pressure while in Axis, the German guarantee won't do anything😁
I really love the video in general and it's very helpful. However, I played along with you on the achievement run and didn't watch the video as a whole from the getgo. I therefore made the same mistake with disbanding my faction, which messed up my run. I wish you would change that right away in the cut, saying that you shouldn't do that... Otherwise good video.
Got the very end where u do the unification of the balkans but I don’t think I had enough troops deployed so I’m gonna have start again hopefully 7th time is the charm
You have till late 1939 because Romania will do their ideology flippy focus’s, Greece will go to war with Italy, and Italy will demande parts of yugo. If you can have everyone flip before July-September of 1939, you’ll be fine.
Did they change ideology flip mechanics or am I just really unlucky with rng? It takes way too long to flip romania, greece, and turkey to communist for me. They seem to need 80% or more communist support to flip, no idea why...
A lot of things are kinda broken right now, for example Mexico can’t get trotsky as leader because of a bug, so I wouldn’t be surprised if something was broken with the Balkans switching ideology. It was kinda broken before tbh, but after a new massive update, things will be extra broken.
Not a bad player, just got unlucky with paradox’s rng. Just keep trying based on this strat OR wait a little bit because I’m trying to come up with a new strat that doesn’t require so much annoying rng. Hopefully it’ll make this much less of a pain.
I’m pretty sure paradox made switching countries ideology harder since arms against tyranny. I gotta update this strat because it’s so outdated already.

If anyone want to do this, I would recommend doing everything pretty much as in the video, focusing more on Romania rather than Greece for boosting communism, but instead of lowering the stability via propaganda/spies I'd recommend boosting communism even more From what I can remember in my ~10 runs, stability doesn't really impact flipping to communism, either as much or at all after arms against tyranny, in the current run I am at (with which I will probably get the achievement) Greece flipped with something like +60% stability, Romania less stability but I have had them flip with 55, 45, 30ish - both flipped with high communism popularity, I didn't check day by day, but more or less, Greece didn't flip (or had a very low chance) unless it had 60% or more Communism support, Turkey generally doesn't flip but I have seen them flip with anywhere from ~60% to ~95% I would recommend taking "Bury Grudges" from the past as soon as Romania and Greece flip, don't ever wait for Turkey, the may flip midway through or they may flip 6 years down the line, then rush the focus to annex them, in my runs Romania joins the Axis and turns fascists after the first third of 1940, so take that into account (why I rush straight to annexing them, generally you have a very short window ) At this point, being Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Greece and Romania you can either use the option that gives you a free wargoal against Turkey (I assume they may accept to cede territory, but with an Army ~4 times larger they didn't accept) when you are ready and invade them, or you can coup them, if you do this, first, set the coup to start somewhere far away from Istanbul because there are some options (which I don't remember exactly their name, but are about where the boosting communism and destabilize countries are) to invite Turkey to your faction and/or join the civil war, if you do the later you get warscore, which you may be able to use to annex the aerea around Istanbul I did the second option and started a coup and it begun in Istanbul, so now I must kick them from the faction, invade them, and annex those aerea Sorry for the long comment but I figured that it would be better to read a long comment than figure out that the video probably won't work
I’ve personally never experienced this, but I’ve heard that it can happen. I’m trying to figure out a new strategy for this achievement that doesn’t use rng because it really is super annoying.
In my save Turked didnt switched when its %100 communist :/. But I tried it with no historicl and its switched faster then historical ai. @@snekksuperior

just tried this strategy and Italy lost the war in Ethiopia, with historical focuses on i have 1500 hours and first time it happens is when i need them not to certified hoi4 moment
You’re not alone. I’ve seen Ethiopia win a few times now and I’ve had multiple people in my comment section saying they’ve seen the same thing. Something in AAT changed Italy and Ethiopia.
2nd and its june 1940 tboth turkey and greece are on 70% commie and less than 15% stability and have been since 1939 but they still havent flipped romania just turns fascist and joins the axis

If you imporve relations and do diplomatic pressure, the Soviets will always agree to a non-agression pact. I cored all required states but I didnt reached achievement. What's the problem about that? Own the core states of romania, yugoslavia, greece and albania as core states didnt completed, game says. I did it with no historical.
They (probably) won’t flip at 57%. If you get it above 60%, they’ll get an event to switch. They may switch and they may not. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do at that point. It’s annoying, but that’s paradox for y’a.
This is not guide... This is series of coincidences. I have done everything exactly as in this video and there are always problems like: Romania does not turn, Turkey does not join... This achievement is same shit like Trotsky Mexico achievements. It is almost impossible.
The key is starting as soon as the non aligned gain power, and before they do their flippy focus’s, which happens in late 1939. It’s best to target them first after doing the Balkan federation project, do the destabilize option first because you can only do it once every 364 days (something like that). Use spy’s to boost communist support as well. They should flip, but I’ve had tries in the past where they just wouldn’t. The rng gods decide our fate and all we can do is try again and hope for the better.

Paradox really needs to give you the option to instigate a coup whenever they’re at like 70%. Leaving it to rng is just morally wrong.

I'm on a new run, it's September 1940 and turkey is at 21% stability and 82% communist support... they still haven't flipped

Turkey absolutely refuses to switch every game, Ive gotten them to 90% communist and below 50% stability and they still wont flip

For some reason the strikes didn't even trigger for me one game. The strat is less RNG but still painful, but I guess that's just hoi4
Yeah, hopefully paradox will come back and add a “coup nation” option for commie Bulgaria or something to make it less rng based.

romania never got flipped in my games, they have something like 57 communist support and 26 stab
They (probably) won’t flip at 57%. If you get it above 60%, they’ll get an event to switch. They may switch and they may not. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do at that point. It’s annoying, but that’s paradox for y’a.
For me yugoslavia didnt flip communist, how did you get them to do that?
Did they agree to the Balkan federation? If they do, they get .20 ticking communist support, but if they don’t they won’t get it.

No, it’ll just be harder to get. As long as you hold all your cores as the Balkan federation and are the faction leader, you’ll get the achievement.
