i love that their suspicion of this bank seems so ridiculous on the outside. and yet. it turned out the bank WAS secretly evil, and the fact that they did not hand out pens or lollipops WAS meant to telegraph villainous intent. also i love the way u draw riz, he's just a funky little guy
Not to mention that Gorthalax mentioned the whole “Johnny Spells tried robbing a bank and the bank was weirdly super-armed” and no one seemed to make the connection between this story and the bank they had just come across. I specifically remember picking up that story hook when Gorthalax first mentioned it, though to be fair I then promptly forgot about it until the Bad Kids later made the KVX / Kalvaxus connection.
brennan literally said “there’s armored trucks and they’re hauling huge bags of gold” and no one caught on to that being an unusual amount of movement for a pretty solitary bank
They DID but Fabian was like "Are you guys TOO POOR FOR BANKS?!" - which being how rich he was, AND his father was targeted by them, it makes sense. But I can't help but think how hard Brennan was internally facepalming...
the fact brennan used the fact that the bank Doesn't Offer Free Lollipops and Pens as the fact they were evil (and they caught onto that!) is one of the best little details of season 1
I love how Gorgug always lows low on intelligence or insight checks, and instead stays in character and ignores what everyone else says and goes off his own check instead of listening to his friends.

honestly I'm rewatching season 1 now and there's many moments where they're about to do something important but there's so many pkayers that they get distracted (and Brennan seems to sometimes distract them on purpose) like when Fig wanted to check Johny Spells' dance studio and instead they went for ice cream, or when Kristen wanted to check if Tracker was okay at the club fight but suddenly they were leaving...
One of the many things I love about Brennan's DMing... is was this bank ALWAYS planned to be significant... or did he write that in because of this moment. Having DMed there are definitely moments like these that inspire you to write in callbacks... his just always fit so well I can never be sure if he planned it.
