Man, i thought defeating Dracula on the Snes was impossible... i could only do it nowadays with the save device of the emulators lol. Seeing you killing him without taking damage is jawdropping!
This port of Dracula X - Rondo of Blood, made the last boss VERY annoying and much more difficult by adding all those pits where you can either fall, get knocked into, or accidentally JUMP into. Granted, at the time, this version pretty much pushed the limits of what the SNES/SFC could do. But I would still rather play the PC Engine version of this game over this port. On another note unrelated to me comparing versions, this was a very good boss rush. Nicely done! & without spamming sub-weapons too!
Brandon Hatch I don't know if it's the same for the SNES port, but you don't know how funny this is for Rondo of blood, the "key" to victory part that is. :p
Brandon Hatch That won't help you against rng hell bosses like Death or Dracula in Castlevania 1 (although the former can be neutralized with holy water) or the she-wolf in Akumajo Dracula x86. Sometimes you just gotta react.
***** I'll agree with you on the Grim Reaper, but Castlevania's Dracula was a pattern heavy boss with a mild unpredictability factor. All you needed to do was march Simon back and forth within the coffin area (at the stage's center), and wait for the Count to appear. The instant he becomes tangible, jump and whip him in the face, then whip him in the waist as you fall. The latter action will negate his fireballs, the only weapon he has against you that will kill you quite quickly, at least before his second form. When his second form becomes tangible, throw a holy water vial at him, and whip him 3-4 times before hitting him with another water. It would be wise to measure the length of time a stun will last on any given boss, so you'll know when to refresh the stun, and keep Blue Devil Dracula from stomping you to death. Follow these two patterns and Lord Vlad Dracul should go down for the count! P.S. As for the unpredictability I mentioned, he may occasionally appear in the center, and contact with his tangible form will definitely hurt you. I can't remember if his intangible form will do the same or not.
Brandon Hatch The thing is, dodging his fireballs or hurting him is not the hard part. It's avoiding him teleporting straight on top of you. And it's his teleports that are completely random. He teleports so fast, that he can easily land on top of you, and it takes some pretty tough reactions to make it out from under him before he telefrags you. You have to VERY quickly be able to perceive whether you need to move left or right before he stops "flickering" and materializes on you. It's never the fire balls that damage me, it's the telefrag. The fireballs and method to damage him is pure execution, but it's the "I never know when he'll teleport on top of me or what direction I'll have to move to escape" that makes Dracula's first form a harrowing reflex battle every time. The second form is indeed just knowing the gimmick though.
Saludos.
I can care less what anyone says. This version of DracX has better level concepts and art than the original. While the original has other effects, this version holds closer to the oldest Castlevania games and has better art direction. The art design is also alot more consistent in this version. The original seems to bounce back and forth with cheep concept designs to really good ones.
getting the best route as far as I can remember, the route should be : stage 1, 2, 3(get the key located at the candles before the boss),4 (there's certain door on the moving platforms. use the key to save maria there then don't enter before the boss, instead open a certain door before the boss room using the key again to reach stage 5 alt.), 5 alt. (save Annet. To save her, get down on the lower left platform by the water spout and whip the water spout until it breaks/stops. The water will now lower! Head downwards and at the bottom of the screen go left and you will see a scene with Annet and you'll save her!, 6, & final or shortest way is : At the password screen, simply change the bottom right fire to an axe.
You make it look soo easy. This Castlevania it's one of the most difficult games on snes.
Evan Tomiko I agree with that 110%. Even though he makes it look easy, believe me, it is NOT easy

This wasn't rondo of blood. It was the snes Dracula X.
Binder: do a flip! Richter: black flip like dragon ball z
why does Cerberus sound like a panther?
The KidGamer it's has the panther sounds sample in the game.
I don't think I'll ever get my answer, but when compared to their Rondo of Blood counterparts, except for Dracula, why is every boss is a total joke?
Why is no one talking about how Cerberus sounds like a mountain lion?!
Like a pantera rather ?
Thats because Cerberus is a three headed panther in this game. Yes its supposed to be a dog, but its also been depicted and a three headed monster.
Se é doido o cara é brabo!
Nice, I never got the perfect versus Death and Werewolf. 👍
In this game Carmilla has shaft' powers
Poor Richter's girlfriend
So what game is better Rondo or Dracula X?
Was that 3rd boss in the original Rondo of Blood?
Idk Ik it’s in PoR.
Boss of level 5A. If memory serves me right the other boss was carmilla.
I ain’t gonna lie to ya, Dracula is such a pain in the ass to defeat
Bloody tears Baby! Bloody tears!
For all Castlevania bosses, the key to victory is keeping to a tight pattern.
Brandon Hatch I don't know if it's the same for the SNES port, but you don't know how funny this is for Rondo of blood, the "key" to victory part that is. :p
toxic Itzi Haha!

Ate the food before Dracula died, disqualified :P
I honestly did not see the bosses before the cloak boss

Why didn't they put Castlevania: Rondo of Blood in an American TurboGraFX-16 in the first place, or better yet a Sega Genesis instead?
Probably because the TurboGrafx-16 didn't sell very well in the West.
I was never able to figure out how to get BOTH the little sister and the girlfriend. ( sigh)
