    What is the best way to clean grease/water marks/stains on veg tan leather? Thank you for all the colors, big help.

    • @doubleccustomleather2623
      @doubleccustomleather2623  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try a leather cleaner. Grease is a tough one you can always apply more oil if it’s not too dark. For water marks I would just wet the whole piece and let it dry. I’ve also heard lime juice works to clean certain stains but I’ve never tried it

    I want to repaint a leather wallet. Should I remove the previous color or can I apply the dye strait on top?

    • @Handles-R-Lame
      @Handles-R-Lame 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say "paint" does the wallet actually have a coating of paint? Or has it been dyed? Depending on these 2 factors(among others), could make re-dying it very difficult.
      Personally I would recommend using either a deglazer or acetone to remove some of the original coating to help with the application of dye to adhere but even then you may or may not be pleased with the results..
      I would also highly suggest using darker colors to re-dye it, because if the original dye used was black, or any other dark color. Your efforts will be truly in vain.
      Hope this helps and best of luck to you!

    What causes my dark brown dye look green after I apply it to the leather the next day? How do I keep that from happening?

    • @doubleccustomleather2623
      @doubleccustomleather2623  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not 100% sure. I only use pro dye and have never had that happen. I also only use quality vegetable tanned leather. If your using quality leather, and pro dye and are still having issues I would look into the application process and amount of coats. Experiment on scrap until your happy with the result.

    Hello, I just stumbled across this video and became a subscriber. Very informative information, I'm looking to start learning how to make leather products myself in the near future and it looks like your vids can helpful. I’m not sure what kind of dye you would use to change upholstery color. Most upholstery leather is made with pre dyed and chrome tanned leathers. Sorry I’m just not knowledgeable enough on that subject to give you any good guidance

    Dude, no way, you HAVE to buff the oil dyes. That’s the point, you’ll get a totally different look.

    • @doubleccustomleather2623
      @doubleccustomleather2623  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not in my experience. I can buff for an hour and no transfer or change in color, feel or texture. Maybe you dye with a different method or amount of coats? Who knows but it works for me and gets good results.

    • @oakridgereview1359

    Fiebings turned my black car seats brown....DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

    • @doubleccustomleather2623
      @doubleccustomleather2623  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anywhere in this video do I recommend trying to dye the seats of vehicles with this dye? This is more geared towards veg tanned leather which I can almost assure you is not the same tanning process your car seats went through. If that is the seats in your Kia are even real leather at all. Should have done more research and maybe you wouldn’t have F’ed up your vehicle. Don’t try to dissuade others from a good product because of your idiotic decision.
